The courtyard is beautiful. Lots of lush plants and trees and gorgeous natural lighting inside. The menu offerings are fresh and delish. My favorite is the spiced tomato soup. There’s the Mermaid Bar and vibing background music. Trendy Mediterranean feel

The vibe is super relaxed (cocktails help!), the flavors are legit Jamaican, and the friendly staff are colorful conversationalists! I always order the island sampler and hubs loves the jerk ribs (full rack of course!).

Yummy pizzas. Get the charcuterie board and a glass of Chardonnay! They offer a fantastic tomato chutney, and good brisket on the board (It’s from a neighbor restaurant called Lockhart’s Smokehouse. So good! )

Are we allowed to call an ice cream parlor “captivating”? Azucar is captivating!!! The flavors are anything but mundane. The store has Cuban/Miami origins and is bright and vibrant. Their ice cream is made fresh EVERY day. We enjoy the vegan cookie butter and the Willie Cherino (bourbon and cherry…yum!).

The food and service is worth the higher price point. I wish I could eat like this every day! The risotto and the gnocchi offerings are delicious.

A tranquil, light filled space with fresh coffee and delicious iced matcha beverages. We ordered breakfast tacos and really enjoyed them. Great outdoor and indoor seating options. Midcentury modern furnishings. Beautiful space at the edge of Bishop Arts district.

Good coffee (they produce their own brand I think) and extensive comfort food menu. They even serve beignets

Gourmet tacos for CHEEEEP. Their tag line is “don’t judge a taco by its price”. Order the Trompo and Bistek tacos, the Weech and Gringa quesadillas. Gastro-art street tacos… OMG!

Quaint spot in Bishop Arts for breakfast, lunch, tea and pastries, or cocktails. The desserts are freshly made and EXTENSIVE. Friendly staff with great service. We enjoy the pecan bars, croissant chicken salad and fried chicken salad.

Delicious Mexican food in an upscale tasteful space. There are several areas to sit, both indoor, upstairs, and a covered patio. Beautiful, artsy, and comfortable. Service was attentive and consistent. Fresh and seasoned tortilla chips, flavorful salsas (the green tomatillo salsa makes you lick your fingers!). Delicious cocktails (I like the “Gold-digger” and the mango frozen margaritas). The food is A+. Salsa, cumbia, and merengue music is played throughout the restaurant and adds to the great mood. So no soft vibes here. Highly recommend.

Winnetka Heights is the second largest designated Historic District in the City of Dallas, Texas. Winnetka Heights residents enjoy living in one of Dallas’ most vibrant urban neighborhoods but remain dedicated to the preservation of the neighborhood as an enduring symbol of early 20th century life . The front porches of many of these historic homes are amazing to see. D Magazine named Winnetka Heights the “Best Neighborhood in Dallas” and the “Best Place to Live for History”.

My favorite shops

The Urban Owl sells the best gifts and wonderfully unique items: custom crafted jewelry, candles (“The Introvert” candle is my fav!), fragrances, barware, gardening gifts, stuff for pet lovers, interesting toys and books… it is woman owned and operated and that inspires me.

Beautiful and interesting floral arrangements both fresh and dried. They had fresh ranunculus flowers available in the middle of summer in Texas. Unique one of a kind gifts, arrangements, plants and containers. It’s fun to walk around the store browse and shop ( it’s like a botanical gallery).
