Centre In The Square is the region’s largest and busiest performing arts centre. Their venue boasts a main hall which is acknowledged as a technically state-of-the-art theatre making it acoustically superior and widely regarded as one of the finest performance spaces in North America. It was designed by Rieder, Hymmen and Lobban, and opened in September 1980.
For 40 years, the Centre in the Square have played a leading role in showcasing the best local and international performing arts. Last year, we staged more than 158 events to more than 150,000 people.
Centre In The Square operates as a not-for-profit charity, The City of Kitchener provides a yearly operating grant of $1.75M, which represents 22.25% of the yearly operating costs. Remaining funds are generated through earned revenue and generous donations by individuals and local businesses.
