Sadly the beautiful Kaputas has become over popular in recent years and it’s hard to see it at its best, which means with as few people as possible. However visiting early morning for a pre breakfast swim is fabulous.

We love visiting early evening and following it with a swim at sunset on the each just a couple of hundred meters away.

Patara is the nearest ancient site to Kalkan and regarded as one of, if not, the best. Over the years extensive archaeological digs have unearthed the city from the sand dunes, the on going work and restoration project present new surprises with every visit.
We love visiting early evening and following it with a swim at sunset on the each just a couple of hundred meters away.
A late afternoon swim at Patara is the perfect way to end the day. Arrive around 5 (in busy times the car park will be packed but don’t let it put you off!) when the sand has cooled down and you can walk on it comfortably.
Most people leave the beach early evening, but you should stay for the sunset.

A traditional village located 15 minutes inland from Kalkan. Kalkan locals decamp here for the summer months. The flat plateau setting and cooler climate make it a great destination for a walk during the summer months.,

Amazing mountain setting about 50 minutes drive from Kalkan, one of the best ancient sites in the area. A short drive uphill beyond the site brings you to the Sakli Vadi trout restaurant, worth a visit.

This is a fun place to visit, though can be crowded and the market stalls are tacky! Go early to avoid crowds, walk the Gorge first whilst it is peaceful then do the tubing down the river. The restaurants offer basic fare and interesting decor!

An absolute must see, an hours drive from Kalkan on the edge of Demre. A small historical site with a beautiful museum. Andriake is often overlooked by visitors to Demre who tend to head to the better known attractions of Myra and the Church of St Nicholas.

There are a number of restaurants offering traditional Turkish breakfast- Kahvaltı, along with lunch and dinner. Trout is the specialty thanks to the abundant spring water flowing through the village. Bodamya Tepe restaurant offers a lush green garden setting.

If you want to spoil yourself spend a day at Zest. It’s the more expensive end of the beach club scene but has a pool as well as sea access. The most comfortable sunbeds in Kalkan for sure!
