Mount Morgan is a gold mining town steeped in rich history however it is also now a great place to visit for the mountain bike enthusiasts. The newest mountain bike trail network consists of 25kms of trails through Mount Morgan’s recreational and water reserve area, No 7 Dam. The trails consist of green level trails, offering less challenging rides, through to blue level trails, offering more remote, steeper and rockier terrain for the more adventurous rider.

For the more adventurous type, Rockhampton’s premier mountain bike trail network, First Turkey, is situated on the side of Mount Archer (Nurim) National Park offering 33 trails for all skill levels.
Make sure you stop at Rocky Mountain Cafe on the way to grab a coffee and a bite to eat before heading to the top.

A fantastic experience for all ages and all levels of ability. Tours of the extensive cave system range from easy to full-on adventure. The memories made here will last a life time. Just a 30 minute drive from the Rockhampton CBD it's well worth the visit.

If you have a full day to spare and the weather is 100% spot on, head over to Great Keppel Island for a spectacular day on the island. Catch the Freedom Fast Cat over and back for a very reasonable price, it leaves from Rosslyn Bay Harbour in Yeppoon. If you're feeling energetic, pack your walking shoes and walk one of the many trails on the island for amazing views and secluded beaches. Be aware that there are only a few places to get food from on the island. And if it's a busy day (i.e. on a weekend) be prepared to wait a bit.
