Parks/Outdoors

Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, a scenic 2,700-acre portion of the Mayacamas Mountains, offers 25 miles of trails (single track and dirt roads) for hiking and equestrian treks. These range from the 0.75-mile Creekside Nature Trail to several 4- to 8-mile loops. A hike to the top of Bald Mountain (2,729’) will take you through forested riparian canyons, grassy meadows (filled with wildflowers in the spring) and, ultimately, chaparral along the upper ridges. Weather ranges widely throughout the year (cold in winter, hot in summer); layered clothing is always a good idea here. Park is adjacent to Hood Mountain Regional Park, with trails connecting the two properties. 5 min drive from the house.
