Parks & Nature

Khandallah Park has a lovely walk through bush up to Mt Kaukau. You get fantastic views from the top but pick your day as it is very exposed!

There are a number of walks through Belmont Regional Park. My favourite is the Puke Ariki/ Haywards Korokoro Traverse - a full day's walk. Great views of the Hutt Valley, Porirua and Wellington.

Te Ara Piko is a lovely flat walk around part of the northern end of Pauatahanui Inlet. At the turning point is a wetland reserve and a good cafe (Ground Up).

Sightseeing

One of Wellington's iconic scenes - the Cable Car that goes from Lambton Quay up the Botanic Gardens. It can be very busy on cruise ship days, so if that's the case, consider walking up through the Botanic Gardens and catching it down.
