The setting used for Pemberley in BBCs Pride and Prejudice. The home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. A stunning stately home with beautiful gardens to explore. Guests can visit the house, the garden or buy a combined ticket . There are super walks throughout the estate and also a garden centre and farm shop with cafe on the edge of the estate. The garden centre is located at Carlton Lees and the farm shop is at Pilsley village, near Chatsworth House. All are just a short 15 to 20 minute car ride away.

An Elizabethan manor house run by the National Trust. It has beautiful tapestries and is set in a lovely park, with superb views. Stainsby Mill (also National Trust) and Hardwick Inn, are also located on the estate.

A very interesting working flour mill to explore., plus you can also enjoy a courtyard full of craft workshops, a tea shop and a gift shop.

Ashbourne is a lovely old market town. It has lots of shops, a park and is close to Tissington historic village and hall, plus Dovedale and Thorpe Cloud, two well-known places of interest for scenery and hiking trails.

History- the Industrial Revolution Arkwright Mills and Cromford Canal.

An interesting mill /museum that show the area's importance as the birthplace of the industrial revolution here in Derbyshire . The mill compkex has a nice courtyard with tea shop and independent craft and book shops. Plus the Cromford canal across the road has a tea shop and is nice for a stroll. Parking by the canal or in the mills car park .

Lovely old market town with lots of shops, a fine church, a museum and a lovely riverside park. ideal for shopping, lunch or a stroll with family. Bakewell's outdoor market on Monday is also very popular. Bakewell is also the home of the famous Bakewell pudding and Bakewell tart.

Matlock is 15 minutes drive away. It has a pretty Victorian park, plus lots of tea shops, antique shops and bric a brac shops. Matlock Bath a mile further on, is like a seaside resort inland It has a museum, a pretty riverside walk and lots of shops. It also has the most fish and chip shops inland of anywhere in the UK!

A lovely place to walk, its just on the edge of Chesterfield and has a nice cafe along the towpath at Hollingwood hub. The canal does barge trips too.
