Traveler advice

What to pack

Layers

Ask a Coloradan how to dress and they’re likely to answer, “In layers!” The range in elevation in our state - you can ski in Breckenridge in the morning and sit on a patio drinking a craft beer in Denver in the afternoon - means temperatures can shift on a dime. Don’t underestimate the importance of layering up and packing clothes for year-round if you’re going to be exploring our great outdoors. No one wants to be the guy in the thick wool sweater who says “I had no idea it could get up into the 70s in February!" or the lady in a sleeveless tank who says "I didn't know it could snow in May!"
Getting around

Driving vs. Taking the Train

There is street parking in most of Denver's neighborhoods and many parking garages downtown. It's usually free, but may be metered in some of the more popular areas. There are limitations on certain days of the month for street sweeping so just be sure to check the signs. Denver has a good light rail network and our neighborhood sits between two stations that are each about a half-mile away from our house. It's a quick 20-minute ride to Downtown Denver on the train and can actually be faster than driving during peak travel times like rush hour.
