I can't get enough of this restaurant. A real gem on the way to Landers. No reservation's just show up and put your name on the list, grab a wine or beer while you wait to be seated. Organic healthy eats, offering a good vegetarian selection also. They are only open for lunch

A great place to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner. Taco's are delicious and craft cocktails to finish the deal. Plenty of seating so there is generally no line to wait for a table.

Tours are typically available October-May, tickets are required and can be reserved ahead of time on: Recreation.gov In the high desert country that was to become Joshua Tree National Park, rugged individuals tried their luck at cattle ranching, mining, and homesteading. The story of William F. Keys and his family in particularly representative of the hard work and ingenuity it took to settle and prosper in the Mojave Desert. The ranger-guided tour of the ranch includes the colorful story of the 60 years Bill and Frances spent working together to make a life and raise their five children in this remote location. The ranch house, school house, store and workshop still stand; the orchard has been replanted; and the grounds are full of the cars, trucks, mining equipment, and spare parts that are part of the Desert Queen Ranch story.

In 1946 Pioneer town was founded by a group of Hollywood investors, including actors Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. They dreamed of creating an Old West set that was actually a town worth visiting, with 1880's-style false-front facades but interiors that had stuff for visitors to see and do too. More than 50 films and television shows were filmed here in the 1940s and '50s. While location shooting and business here have dwindled, the true desert find can be found at Pappy & Harriets.

Approximately 12 miles south of the park's north entrance is the 0.25 mile Cholla Cactus Garden Nature Trail; this flat loop leads hikers through 10 acres of landscape dominated by teddybear cholla. This unusual stand of cacti is located in the Pinto Basin, a large expanse of alluvial fans covered with creosote bush and burro bush for as far as the eye can see. There are very few teddybear cholla stands in the park. The best season to see cacti in bloom is in the Spring. Beautiful area to take photo's particularly at sunrise and sunset as the cacti will look like it is glowing! Carefull where you step, this cacti is also known as 'Jumping cacti' these needles will have to be removed with tweezers!! Well worth the visit though.
