Take a Walk!

If you feel like taking a walk, besides walking into and out of shops on Warren Street, you can log a good number of steps and enjoy fantastic beauty without going far!
Walk down to the riverfront park, just beyond the Amtrak station. Also has a parking area and restroom. Dog friendly (leashed). Have a picnic, stare into space, watch the barges go by, play frisbee, cricket, soccer, play catch, or just set a spell on a park bench or bring your own chair or blanket. You can ride the ferry across the River and visit Athens. The park is the former site of oil storage tanks.

About an hour south of Hudson. This is where FDR grew up, and where he thought of as home, though technically it was his mother’s house until her death. Franklin and Eleanor are buried here. Excellent guided tours of the house. Also, on the grounds, the FDR Library and Museum. Also, Eleanor’s personal cottage ValKill, the greatest she-shed ever, is a short drive away, and guided tours are available. FDR’s personal space, Top Cottage, is another short drive away, and is likewise fascinating, and guided tours are available.
