Sightseeing

This is one of the most important churches for Greek-Catholics. The current Rococo ensemble was built in the 1760s by architect Bernard Meretyn. Opposite the Cathedral stands the Metropolitan’s Palace, an 18th century Rococo building constructed by architect Fesinger, displaying some elements of Classicism. If you have a minute, I recommend going inside of the church as the ensemble occupies an important place in the artistic culture of the Ukrainian lands. It has preserved and buried in its walls many prominent historical and artistic monuments of various times, in particular, those that belong to the most important and most representative for its era. However, due to historical circumstances, most of them are now outside the temple.

The church was built by the Latin Archbishop of Lviv Saint Joseph Bilczewski in the years 1903-1911 in the neo-Gothic style. I think it is the only building in the city built in this style. The interior was recently reconstructed to make the church look very modern inside.
