This is a row home in a great location in DC, Capitol Hill! This neighborhood is safe, clean, full of families, quiet, yet close to the bustling downtown. Built in the 1890s, this beautiful home is full of historic charm! The house is actually part of the DC historical society. This listing is for the first floor 1 bed/1 bath apartment. Please note that with its age comes quirks - we call it charm! Please show up expecting a 130 year old brick home, not a modern, chic Ritz Carlton. Beds: 1 Queen in its own room 1 Queen memory foam sleeper sofa in the living room The space accommodates 4 people (It is most comfortable for 2, or a family with children, but will accommodate up to four adults if adults are willing to sleep on the pull out sofa bed). The full bathroom has a tiled shower/tub and fresh, fluffy towels. All sheets, towels, etc are freshly laundered prior to guest's arrival. There is a washer/dryer combo located in the apartment should guests choose to launder towels, clothes, etc. The bedroom also has a desk, reading chair, mirror, and closet. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots, pans, silverware, and whatever else you need to make yourself at home. There is a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, and microwave. The living room has a pull out sofa bed, TV, small dining table, and a bookshelf with a few awesome books for you to help yourself to! There is also a pack n play available for families traveling with small children.
If you haven't spent time in Capitol Hill/Eastern Market, you are missing out! This is the best neighborhood in the city, and its safe and family friendly! We are a few blocks from Lincoln Park where you can workout, or sunbathe, or have a snowball fight. Within a 10-15 minute walk there are tons of restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops. Every Sat/Sun there is a local flea market a few streets away - they make the best pastries and home baked goods! The house is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive from Union Station. Capitol Hill is really the best neighborhood in the city.

  • We highly recommend staying here, everything about our stay was great. It was very convenient being so close to the metro and we really enjoyed the neighborhood. Everything was spotless clean with a seamless check in and communication beforehand. Would come back again without hesitation!!

  • My mom and her friend stayed here a for a quick weekend trip in DC and had only positive things to say! Fantastic location with FREE PARKING, only a 10 minute walk from the Orange/Blue/Silver line which gets you quickly and easily to the National Mall, and a 12 minute walk from Barracks Row with its many restaurants. Also very close to Lincoln Park if you’re looking for a scenic neighborhood park. Check-in was seamless and the place was spotless as well. While they didn’t use it, they appreciated that there was a washer/dryer! The only thing to mention of potential concern is the noise level. The upstairs neighbors were not noisy, but the walls/flooring are extremely thin so even footsteps seem loud. If you’re a heavy sleeper this shouldn’t be a problem, but ear plugs wouldn’t hurt if you’re a light sleeper. There’s also occasionally street noise, as expected on a weekend night. Overall, they would definitely recommend this space to anybody driving into town looking for a lovely neighborhood in which you can easily access most of the popular tourist attractions!

    Natalie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location, beautiful, quiet, safe neighborhood, so close to the metro. Easiest self check-in, would definitely recommend to others, and would happily stay here again!

750 sq ft, with brand new EVERYTHING - an open kitchen, big windows & tall ceilings (both of which are rare for basement units). Fire place & ws/dr in unit. 2 Blocks from metro, a block away from Union Market, and step away from H Street night life!
  • We enjoyed our stay here. Very quick response time in getting a parking permit to us. Quick walk to metro station. Would recommend staying here.

    Claire2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Overall good experience since we were there only to drop our bags and spend the night. However, we could hear children footsteps running around on top of us so that shows how light the roof was. Although it was an entire place for ourselves, we didn’t get a full sense of privacy. It wasn’t a big issue, but something to point out if someone wanted to rest during the day.

    Arju2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place was very clean and extremely comfortable. It most definitely exceeded our expections! It played a huge role in how amazing our stay at D.C went! Thank you very much!

High-ceilinged private sleeping space, modern amenities and comfortable shared living areas. Works for solo travelers or up to four. With free streetcar, access to Metro and nearby shopping, restaurants and clubs - a city, not suburbs - the neighborhood is bustling and close to everything.
This is a private upstairs bedroom with gorgeous period details, spacious for two, comfortable for more, new beds in 2020! Enjoy the open plan ground floor, modern kitchen and living space. Key amenities include hardwood floors, central A.C., heated bath tiles. Double-paned windows may be opened for breezes, or closed for insulation from the elements.
The home is on a quiet street in a bustling urban area with ample parking. The neighborhood is called Kingman Park and in recent years it began a renaissance. A new recreation center and public library are one block away. A Safeway supermarket and liquor store are close by. Another draw is the new trolley line on H Street which connects directly to Union Station, terrific restaurants and clubs on H Street NE, and shopping at Giant, Safeway, Aldi and Whole Foods. The home is across the street from the rear of an elementary school. Cleanup of the nearby Anacostia River is reconnecting the neighborhood to nature, bringing bike lanes, kayak and canoe put-ins and nature walks, a short walk to the east.
  • Good location and easy check-in process. The house and room were very clean plus there are many stores neaby.Overall i had a good experience.

  • Read is a very nice host, good in communication and responsive. The house are warm so that I felt comfortable in the stay. I would like to book his room again when I come back to DC

    MEIYU2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. 1 min walk to street car that takes you to union station close to all the sites and it’s a free ride. Read responded fast and was flexible. Gave great tips. Room has a comfy bed and is warm and clean. Recommended !

    Nir2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, quiet house in a primarily residential neighborhood 10-12 minutes from Union Station by the free streetcar. The house is a block away from the streetcar stop on 19th and Benning. A shopping center and other businesses are a short walking distance away. Read is very knowledgeable about D.C. and will give you plenty of suggestions of non-obvious places to visit as well as contextual knowledge about the history of Washington. Would absolutely recommend staying here.

    Ryan2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed 3 nights at Read’s & had a very enjoyable stay. Comfortable bed, shower, and good location to use free streetcar to Union station. Quiet neighbourhood. Didn’t use kitchen but available and seemed to have everything you’d need. Read is also very informative and gives very useful advice on the city.

    Michael2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed doing yoga in Read's home and it was easy to take the bus or the streetcar when it runs to get to the convention center. I wasn't able to sleep on the single bed but the double futon was fine, even with my ornery back. Read has lots of beautiful furniture, heated floor in the bathroom, and he knows lots about the city! Metro is a 15 min walk. I liked the neighborhood!

    Anke2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Read's space was very convenient for me! An easy walk to plenty of restaurants as well as a Whole Foods and a Safeway for any little thing I needed that I may have forgotten at home. I'd totally stay here again

Great one bedroom in the basement of a Victorian House. Kitchen, private bathroom, hight speed internet. Furnished. In the heart of U street and 14th.
You will have full access to any part of the house/machinery and linens (bedding, tablecloths and towels). Once you get off the U street metro, take exit on 13th street. You will be just in front of the house. The entrance to the basement is on the back side. On the left side of the house you will see a small gate. Open the gate, walk through the corridor and make a right at the end. You will see a wooden gate that take to the house backyard and the entrance door to the basement. Very easy! For a time being the front gate is locked so you would have to use a back way to the house, which is marked on a map I sent to every guest once reservation is confirmed. The back entrance is just a 5 minute walk from the main one and it is completely safe. The guest will have full use of the house without interaction of the host, unless differently coordinated in advance. At night, you have three main choices in D.C.: Georgetown, where the tourists and frat boys go to party; Adams Morgan, where the frat boys go once they've graduated; and U Street, where you won't find any of the above. The strip of bars, restaurants and boutiques runs for about eight blocks between 17th Street and 9th Street NW, in a neighborhood called Shaw. The birthplace of Duke Ellington, U Street was once a center of African-American culture. Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong were regulars. After the 1968 riots, the corridor sat mostly vacant for far too long. But it is now finally, fully revived, jangling with sound and motion after dark. Check out D.C.'s best live-music venue, the 9:30 Club, just off the corridor at the corner of 9th Street and V Street NW. You can also find good, upscale restaurants and bars like Marvin, a bistro and bar with a rooftop lounge. But the icon of U Street is still Ben's Chili Bowl, a family-run, old-school chili-dog joint that opened in 1958 and stuck around when almost nothing else did. Take the green or yellow line to the U Street/African-American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo stop.

  • Yana's place is in a cool area. There are murals on buildings, a Trader Joe's, a Peet's coffee (try the horchata latte), a beer & wine store and Metro. We spent one day/ night out and one night just hanging out at the apartment. It was so convenient to cook dinner. There is a fully stocked kitchen, including a french press for coffee. Plus, a washer and dryer. It was overall a great experience. The price was awesome. Definitely consider Yana's place when checking out DC.

Enjoy your stay in DC in a small, cute, sunny, private cottage with a kitchenette, cable tv, and a private full bath. Located in a quiet neighborhood convenient to The National Mall, The Capitol Building, and great restaurants.
Private cottage with private entrance features a queen bed, private bath, cable tv, a kitchenette, WiFi, heating and cooling controlled by you and clean towels, sheets and bedspreads. This is a very small house and in order to maximize the storage possibilities the bed is about a foot higher off the floor than a regular bed. We have a stool to help you but if this will be a problem you may want to look into another place to stay. Conveniently located to Union Station, The Capitol Building, The National Mall, H Street/Atlas District, Eastern Market, great restaurants, and public transportation. Most of these locations are easily walkable or if you prefer to bike or take public transportation that is convenient too. This cottage is in our backyard. There is a field behind our house where we and many other neighbors enjoy playing soccer. We have 3 kids ages 9- 12. Check In is at 2pm. Check Out is at 10am. If you arrive early and would like to leave your bags in our storage room let us know and we can work that out!

  • Interesting location set up like an apartment building. Each traveler is given their own room and electronic key code. The room is bigger than it appears in the photos, and the bed is incredibly comfortable. There is also a couch that can be used as a pull-out bed. The room comes equipped with an empty closet, two desks and a television. The bathroom is very nicely designed, and the host left fresh towels and washcloths for my guest and I. (The shower is hard to customize between either freezing or burning to death, but that's not a slight on the host's part- just adjust the knob very gradually, future travelers.) Did not see the host due to odd hours of travel in the area, but the room and location was clean and felt safe. Would stay again, definitely. Thank you, Sherry.

  • We really loved Anna’s place. First of all, she allowed us to check in earlier and explained in details how to get to a nearest subway and grocery. Only a few minutes walk to a subway station. The place was clean, nice and had everything we needed. Only small issue was slow internet. Once I asked Anna about this, she immediately contacted provider to reset. This helped a bit but not fully.

Paul was available to help when we needed it and whilst we had access to the kitchen and dining room upstairs it was nice to have our own private space downstairs. Would definitely recommend!

Furnished room in charming 3bed/2bath home. 10-15 min walk to boutique shops, restaurants, and year-round farmer's market. Includes wireless internet, utilities, and washer/dryer. Refundable one month's security deposit due at lease signing.
Large and bright space. The room is a master bedroom and is 191 sq ft.
Quiet and residential neighborhood. Walking distance to downtown Takoma Park. 10 min walk to CVS and 15 min walk to 7 Eleven. Safeway, Giants, and natural foods coop supermarkets 1 mile away, Aldis and Shoppers supermarkets 2 miles away. Peapod, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Express, and other grocery delivery services also available in the area. Year-round farmer's market on Sunday's from 10am to 2pm just a 10 minute walk away. Sun Trust bank, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America within walking distance. Restaurants, coffee shops, boutique stores, and fitness studios nearby.
  • The room that I rented was as I expected, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen includes all things you need for cooking. You can get to DC downtown easily using only one metro or one bus. Also, there is a mall which is not far from this location: Silver Spring downtown mall where you find many things: shops, coffees, restaurants, etc. Really, I recommend this good location.

  • Diane is very welcoming, and is used to long term guests. She is personable and quick to respond. This home is extremely clean and Diane always took care of any issues that came up. I highly recommend this place for those looking for an extended stay.

    Benjamin2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Diane's place is great! She's really nice and knows a lot about the area. The neighborhood is quiet. The area has several affordable restaurants and coffee shops. It's not too far from the Takoma Metro station and doesnt take long to get to other parts of DC.

    Monisha2017-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Diane's place was perfect for what I needed. I was there for the entire summer for an internship. There was plenty of space for all my clothes and belongings, and space for me to have enough food to cook three meals a day. Because of similar schedule's, Diane was very understanding of my comings and goings, and made living there while working easy. The metro is a 10-15 walk down a road (with sidewalks) so it was a perfect way to start and end my day. The neighborhood itself was so cute and safe; there are great restaurants (a couple of which that have great bars) and the farmer's market on Sunday has a great variety and great prices. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Diane is really great! She is so helpful. On my first day here she took me around showing me all the near by supermarkets, bus stations and metro. The room was perfectly furnished with all the things I need. It really made me feel like home.

  • Our stay was everything we expected and more. Nana was highly communicative and provided very clear instructions around our stay. The house was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Also, having a place to park in back was huge as on-street parking is quite challenging in the neighborhood. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or recommend to anyone!

  • A wonderful place in a great location. It was perfect for our family and friends. Very clean and comfortable.

  • This place is great! Walking distance to the metro, local restaurants, and bars. I’d suggest renting scooters or city bikes one day and checking out the city. The whole place is spacious, newly renovated, awesome views from the back deck and roof deck, and great for a weekend visit in DC! We will be back soon.

Elegant private master suite blocks from the Pentagon City or Crystal City Metro Stations In-home master suite w/ attached private bathroom in one of D.C.’s best suburbs! Our safe, beautiful tree-lined neighborhood is just a few blocks (but a world away) from Pentagon City, Crystal City, Amazon's HQ2, DCA, and the city. DC is just 2 Metro stops away! With over 100 nearby restaurants and shops, you will be close to everything you might need. Free off-street and on-street parking is provided.
Secure in-home suite offers a private master bedroom with a Queen bed (new luxury mattress and furnishings), sitting area, bay window, walk-in closet, full convenience kitchenette with mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, and master bath with double sinks, glass shower, and soaking tub. High speed wireless internet (100Mbs) make planning your next days explorations or keeping in touch with clients a breeze. Come enjoy our fantastic region or do a little business and discover real comfort and luxury away from the cookie cutter options.
Our neighborhood was originally a farm that began to be developed in the 1930's with the majority of development occurring in the 1940's (while the Pentagon was being built) and 1950's. Over the last decade +, many of the original residents moved on and a new generation has settled in. A large (Virginia Highlands) park is at the end of our block with; lighted tennis and basketball courts; a branch library; and Fire Station 105 (1st on scene at the Pentagon on 9-11) with granite from the Pentagon and steel from the Twin Towers on display. The Pentagon's 9-11 Memorial is just a 1 mile walk. Our neighborhood has excellent amenities with a RiteAid (pharmacy and convenience store) and Harris Teeter (grocery store) within close walking distance. Whole Foods and CostCo are also within short walking distance. Though our neighborhood is very close to National Airport, we have almost no noticeable noise because we are not in the flight path for the planes and there is a largely commercial district (Crystal City) with tall buildings that block any sound between the airport and our neighborhood.
  • Absolutely remarkable hosts. This was, undeniably, one of the best AirBnB stays I have experienced. From the wide range of amenities to the luxurious decor, this living area was fantastic. There were no road bumps throughout the duration of my stay, and if I needed anything, the hosts were very responsive and helpful. Would highly recommend.

  • James and Cathy host a cleanly and cozy suite in a safe and friendly Neighborhood only minutes away from Capital hill. • Very convenient, whether flying out of National Airport or discovering Alexandria and DC. Our host met us and walked us through everything we needed to know and offered suggestions on travel and dining. Very comfortable bed and quiet (I still don't know whether our host's family was at home or not).

    Peter2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodations were just as lovely as the picture showed! The walk to the Metro stop took about 8 minutes, and I felt totally at ease in the neighborhood. There are restaurant choices near the Metro, and the accommodations include all you need to make simple meals with the fridge and microwave. I’m not likely to get back to the DC area, but I would definitely stay here again , if I have the chance.

    Chrys2020-01-20T00:00:00Z

Don’t waste money with expensive Airbnbs, at my place it’s easy access to the metro for affordable rates. Can’t beat the price and location. Best for short and medium length stays. Private bathroom, mini-refrigerator, private entrance, private bedroom. All you need for a good night sleep. About 1/3 mile walk (4-6 mins) to metro station provides easy access to the rest of the city. Self check-in, so no waiting around for host to arrive. Parking available also.
  • David and his wife are amazing people, they are pretty friendly, helpful, and funny. He answers quickly if you have any question, he tries to solve your extra needs like a hair dryer etc. It is obvious that he is not a good photographer, the room is better and wider than I expected, private bathroom is always plus for me. Easy access to the touristic places with green metro line and from the metro station to the home takes 10 min by walking. It is a residential area, the neighbourhood is also safe and full with friendly people. It is a perfect place to stay. If privacy and safety are important for you, and if you are on budget, do not look for the others. Strongly recommended. I stayed just 2 nights but I will always remember, I had amazing start for USA. Thank you for guesting me guys.

    Nesrin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • David’s place is a great value! It was perfect for me traveling by myself and would stay again. I enjoyed my stay and liked being within walking distance of the Metro.

  • Easy to find, easy to check in. Private bathroom is always a plus! The room was well heated with plenty of blankets, a desk, and a mini fridge (good for dinner leftovers!). There is a dog THAT STAYS UPSTAIRS — if the sound of a barking dog scares you, be prepared to hear it upon opening the door. Fantastic value! 5/5 would stay again!

    Gina2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely better than described. The room was clean, cozy, and comfortable. David was super on top of responding to questions and requests. Best value ever, especially considering the location.

    Jason2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as advertised. I didn’t need anything but a bed and a shower and this easily (and cheaply!) provided both. Desk and mini fridge were nice. Very easy check in. Short walk to the Metro. It’s described as a basement but I think ground floor bedroom is more accurate. Basically felt like a small private space which, again, was perfect for what I needed. Amble street parking. Would recommend.

    Tim2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • David was very quick with communicating and was flexible with check-in! He made sure I had made it in safely and didn’t mind me messaging him if needed for any requests. Great location, definitely worth the value. I would definitely stay again and recommend it for any one looking for a nice stay in the area.

Feel like a DC resident instead of a tourist with full access to our basement guest suite, including a covered off-street parking space and separate entrance. The suite features a queen size bed, sitting area, and full bathroom. Enjoy complimentary morning coffee while planning you day. Take advantage of the free DC Streetcar to ride to Union Station and all the exciting dining and drinking destinations on H Street NE. Located near tranquil Kingman Island full of beautiful nature trails.
Let this be your launchpad to a fabulous trip to the nation's capitol in our new and improved space! In December 2019, we shut down for two months of renovation. The suite now has an independent mini-split to heat and cool the floor. We've also installed some sound proofing measures in response to guest feedback. You have your own separate entrance and private covered parking space. Enjoy a newly renovated bathroom, couch and television, and queen size bed. The couch pulls out to a full-size bed allowing us to accommodate a maximum of four guest. We provide a mini-fridge and coffee machine along with complimentary coffee and tea. We don't offer a kitchen but that just means you have more time to enjoy all that the city has to offer!
Get off the tourist route by basing yourself in NE DC. Kingman Park is a residential section of Capitol Hill and is close to all the action (bars, restaurants, shows) on H Street as well as beautiful running and biking trails along the Anacostia River that will take you to Navy Yard, where you might catch a National's baseball game in season or try out a great restaurant. We are also close to the US Capitol and the National Mall with its plethora of free museums.
  • Jennifer and Randy are great hosts! They are super nice and welcoming. The place is very clean and is close to downtown. Will recommend to friends!

    Jessica2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's place is just what you need if your exploring in DC, a nice clean shower and a comfy cozy bed to rest in. It's also very close to the DC Streetcar, a Capitol Bike Share rack, and access to the Metro is just down the street. Super easy to get around. It is an older place and in the basement so overhead noise translates fairly well. If you're a light sleeper consider earplugs. If you are squeamish about gritty looking areas of town you may want to reconsider but I would urge you to suck it up;) Have fun exploring!

    Billy2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • They have an excellent conditioned basement suite, clean and with amenities, just as described. We also like the location with easy access to the free train and about 10-15 mins ride to the monuments and museums

    Michael2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay! It’s the perfect size for one person or a small party, and everything you could possibly need is here—there was even an umbrella provided (which I, of course, had forgotten to pack). I got to have my morning coffee and even do a small load of laundry. The H Streetcar is ridiculously close—and FREE. The air conditioning unit was perfect; it definitely cools down the whole room. I’d recommend this to anybody, especially if you come here without a car, because the H Streetcar makes everything so convenient.

    Andrea2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had a pleasant stay. The place was very comfortable, Jennifer provided great recommendations for food and places to visit.

    Maria2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's place was the perfect spot for my quick business trip to DC. There's a metro stop within a 20 minute walk, and lots of good food options nearby (which Jennifer pointed out in the helpful local info packet she provided!) Everything was very clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and there were lots of little thoughtful touches like a Keurig machine (with creamer, sugar, etc), little chocolates, and a great TV equipped with Netflix, etc. Jennifer was also very flexible about check-in/ out times, which I really, really appreciated - it was much nicer doing work in her space than having to drag my suitcase to Starbucks or wherever and work from there until it was time to go to the airport. Communication was always easy, fast, and professional. I highly recommend staying here, and I'm hoping to stay again when I return in December!

    Sara2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • location was convenient to train to H street for good food, bars etc. Just outside all the things you want to see i DC for half the cost. Enjoyed It!

  • Hi Jennifer, Thanks a lot for hosting us, the apartment is great. Your check in instructions are crystal clear and we had no issues finding the place in the middle of the night. We really appreciate the area tips you left in the flat as well. The entire flat was spotless and welcoming. It has a really nice homely feeling compared to hotel rooms, the fridge/kettle was very much appreciated. It was an excellent stay. If we are ever back in DC we will be back. Thanks, Lucy and Iain

  • Scott was an excellent host and gave great tips for my stay in DC. The accomodation has been accurately specified in the description and is very well located.

    Thomas2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Scott was a great host in a great area. Couldnt have asked for a better stay

    Bryan2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint area and the space was super clean!

    Deja2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Scott was friendly and welcoming, his house is simple and very well located, close to subway station and mini markets. The rental piece was the living room of the house, it does not have very good lighting and has no door for privacy. However the price is very convenient to stay here.

    Pedro Ignacio2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious room with a very comfortable bed. 10 minutes away from the metrostation, very convenient to get to the center.

    Rick2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • The room is a small room separated by a living room on the first floor. Although there is a door and a wall to completely close the room, the door is a kind of blinds that cannot be locked, so it is not soundproof at all. If you only need to find a room to sleep in for a short trip, this is still a good place. The sofa bed is not too soft, it feels pretty good, and the price is quite high.

    Natalia2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very convenient. Also, the room was pretty clean. The response of Scott was very quick. One thing is that the light of the room was dim, so it might not so good to read a book in the room.

This room is best suited for a quiet, solo traveler. You have your own bedroom with Queen bed, but sharing bathrooms with other guests. High speed Verizon Fios fiber optic Wi-Fi, over the air HDTV reception, free laundry. Free parking ON the street, bus stop around the corner, metro station is 15 min bus ride away. Kitchen/dining/living room are shared with everyone else in the house.
Our house is mostly covered by hardwood floor and tiles, so we do not recommend walking around bare foot. We suggest that you bring a pair of your own non-slippery slippers to walk around the house.
We are located at a quiet end street, there is a convenient store close by. We are also close to Four Mile Run trail that leads to the Potomac river, and a Shirlington downtown area with grocery store, library, theater, and lots of restaurants.
  • If you're in the Arlington area and need a place for the night or an entire week, I can't recommend Charlie and Amy's place enough. Its close proximity to the nation's capital, coupled with wonderful dining options not far away make this an ideal location. The room is exceptionally comfortable and at night, despite being in the D.C. area, it's absolutely quiet, guaranteeing a good night's sleep.

    Joseph2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • If you're staying in the D.C. area for any period of time, you owe it to yourself to stay at Amy and Charlie's place. The accommodations are spectacular and the location beyond compare. Additionally, the price point is very reasonable!

  • Amy and Charlie’s place was very nice. The location was perfect and the room was very comfortable. Would recommend for a solo traveler

  • Seamless check-in process. Great value for money. Spotless room, with some thoughtful gestures and clear instructions (and pre-communication) of how the shared space operates. Amazing location, a short Uber ride from central DC and within walking distance from Shirlington village. A must for anyone visiting DC or surrounds.

    Natasha2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Street parking is abundant by the place. The train station is a little far to walk (15 minutes) in the winter- but there was plenty of free street parking near the train station which was super convenient. It’s only about 20 minutes on the train to the city. The apartment is cute and clean with a private entrance which was nice. And Fiker was quickly responsive to messages. Overall a wonderful experience!

  • Great location close enough to everything. We mostly used Uber to get around, but the bus and metro system is convenient also. The bathrooms are small, but were just fine for us. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen supplies were adequate. I would stay at this place again.

    Derrick2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Alex's place was definitely in a great location. We were able to get everywhere within a quick 15 min walk. The place was sparkling clean and had great linens. For a large group, it's hard to beat. Note: the house is an old row house meaning there are 4 floors with a narrow staircase. The bathrooms are very small and the showers are about 30"x30".

    Chris2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a blast staying here! For one, the location is amazing, many places in walking distance! He even provided a booklet showing things to do in the area. The patio was such a nice vibe. And my friends couldn’t get over how comfortable the beds and rooms were! All in all, we had a 5/5 experience. I will definitely be booking with Alex again if my friends & I have another DC outing!

Petworth is one of the most charming, local neighborhoods DC has to offer. Often described as a small town nestled inside of a big city, it is filled with young working professionals and long-time DC residents. It's one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in town. Petworth is bordered by Howard University, Columbia Heights, Shaw, Brookland, Catholic University, Medstar Washington hospital and Children's National hospital. The neighborhood has its own foodie scene, featuring nationally acclaimed restaurants like Pom Pom, Timber Pizza, and Call Your Mother, as well as local favorites like Homestead, Cinder BBQ, and Taqueria del Barrio. Petworth is also home to great cocktail bars and speakeasies like the Reading Room and Capitol Cider House. During the week, make sure you check out Apertivo Hour at Little Coco's for all you can eat and drink for $23! Our neighborhood also has great selections at Yes! Organic Market, the weekend Petworth Farmer's Market, Loyalty Books, and more, all within a 5-min walk from our home!
  • Samantha and Amir’s place is amazing! It’s in a great spot, really like 10 minutes away or less from most of the places you will need to go in DC and the place was SO clean. Even cleaner than any hotel or anywhere really that I’ve stayed at. It was such a homey and comfy vibe. Me and my boyfriend enjoyed our stay here a lot!

    Melike2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Look no further, this place is a gem! My wife and I are borderline OCD, and this place was SPOT LESS! Everything was super stylish and comfortable. If you’re staying in, they have a great “living area” with games and TV. If you’re going out, you’re only a stones throw from Zoo, nightlife, and shopping. The area felt safe and the house was really easy to get to. And if that wasn’t enough, fact that we could just park the car, feel safe leaving it there, and have it free was beyond ideal. We felt so comfortable the whole time, and hope to book with them next time we’re in the DC area!

    Katie2020-01-30T00:00:00Z

Enjoy your stay in DC in a newly renovated private suite with a kitchenette. Located in a quiet neighborhood convenient to The National Mall, The Capitol Building, and great restaurants.
Private room with private entrance features a queen bed, private bath, cable tv, a kitchenette, WiFi, heating and cooling controlled by you and clean towels, sheets and bedspreads. Conveniently located to Union Station, The Capitol Building, The National Mall, H Street/Atlas District, Eastern Market, great restaurants, and public transportation. Most of these locations are easily walkable or if you prefer to bike or take public transportation that is convenient too. This newly renovated space is on the ground floor of our home. There is a field behind our house where we and many other neighbors enjoy playing soccer. We have 3 kids ages 9 - 12. We are usually up and around at 7am on weekdays and 8 am on weekends and holidays. We will do our best to be quiet but this house is old and some of the floorboards are creaky. Please consider this when you are choosing to stay with us. Check In is at 2pm. Check Out is at 10am. If you arrive early and would like to leave your bags in our storage room let us know and we can work that out! Private entrance to your room and bath. Keurig coffee maker, microwave, mini-fridge, and a sink are in the kitchenette. Some snacks and coffee will be in the room. Clean sheets, towels, and bedspread will be provided for each new guest. We are home most days and nights and happy to give you some tips on getting around the city or finding a great place for dinner but we are also happy to give you the privacy to enjoy your stay. There a few other AirBnBs on our block so you might even meet some fellow travelers! Capitol Hill is a very family friendly, walkable neighborhood. There is a field behind our house where neighbors enjoy playing soccer. We are walking distance to a few parks, Eastern Market, H St./Atlas District and some great restaurants. We are conveniently located to most forms of public transportation. We are a 20 - 25 minute walk to Union Station and Eastern Market which both have metro stations. The D6 bus stop is 2 blocks from our house. This bus will take you to Union Station, downtown , and all the way to Georgetown. There are other bus lines that stop within 4 blocks of our house. This neighborhood is great for walking. But if you prefer to ride bikes, there is a docking station to a bike share program across the field behind our house. You can rent the bikes for the day and use them to travel around the city parking them at other docking stations convenient to most neighborhoods and sites in DC. Parking in our neighborhood is not a problem but if you want to leave your car for more than 2 hours you will need a visitors parking pass. If you are interested in this please let me know and if you give me your state and tag numbers I can get a parking pass for you.

  • This is an attractive and spotlessly clean space that fits everything a person would need into a compact and well-designed area. The location is great--a quick bus or bike ride into the heart of Washington, DC, with good local restaurants. This was my second stay at this address and I wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Basic and pleasant, quiet, private room, share house with me, 1-1/2 baths. Full bath w/ shower & tub, dbl sinks. Kitchen, backyard, laundry facility. Walk: 8 min-Union Station, 4 min-H St, 10 min-US Capital, 20 min-Mall/Museums. In case you are wondering, the rear window is not missing any glass as one reviewer erroneously reported.
Great price, great value, mellow atmosphere, good location, quiet neighborhood. Bedding included. In case you are wondering the rear window is not missing any glass as one reviewer erroneously reported. This is a fixed window and In summer months the entire window may be fitted with a reflective cover to improve cooling efficiency. There is glass behind the cover.
This is Capitol Hill, its a very pleasant walk to the museums and tourist attractions or use convenient public transportation.
  • Very good choice. A few blocks from the Union Station, where there are all kinds of services and transport: trains, buses, subway, and the "circulator" (bus service to all places of interest only 1 dollar). Michael makes you feel like you're at home and always willing to help you. The room is extremely comfortable and clean.

    Fernando2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Really good overall. The room was spacious and the bathroom was nice and friendly and nice.

    영훈2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful stay, and I would definitely stay again! Michael is kind, considerate and welcoming. He is always ready to help and make your stay as comfortable as possible! The location is super convenient - close to bus stops, DC Circulator stops ($1 bus to most tourist attractions), Union Station (where you can take the metro, Amtrak, etc) restaurants and markets. Overall, cannot recommend enough! Michael has all these great reviews for a reason!

    Marifer2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Place near the heart of washington. Near union station. Also the places is so quiet, for anyone who want to get private place to relax, here is the one.

    Ishak2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Was looking for an inexpensive place in brief walking distance of Capitol Hill, found this. Great location! Definitely away from the hustle of major roads, yet still close to stuff. Inside, it's a two-floor house -- first floor is kitchen and small living room, second floor is the bedroom and bathroom and host quarters. Bedroom is a larger bed, a single bed to the side, and a small desk spot with chair if you need to get something done. Good, simple place to spend a couple nights and head out during the day.

    Jeff2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is comfortable and spacious. If you like to walk this is what you looking for. Is 20 minutes from Capitol building. A lot of restaurants nearby. Michael is a very nice guy and that’s make this place unique.

    Eduardo2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, great guy. I'd recommend to anyone.

    Sterling2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's Airbnb is five blocks from H Street. Which was Whole Foods, CVS, Restaurants and Bars. One mile from the metro train off Capitol and Second. Along with The Library of Congress, Amtrack Station, and The Capitol Building. Michael's place is outstanding. The place is your home away from home.

This is a newly and beautifully renovated house (almost done) in the lovely SE Hillcrest neighborhood. It is a little slice of heaven, nestled near a wooded area on a quiet cul-de-sac and frequently visited by deer. Plenty of street parking and easy access to Uber. Cats with distinct personalities live here. This room is one of two Airbnb options available. Come visit this loving family and rest peacefully in a super comfy, luxurious king bed. Not a good spot for “romantic getaways.” :-)
Your designated room and the upstairs common areas are yours to enjoy! You are also welcome to grab a chair outside and hangout on the patio. It is so nice on a beautiful day. We often have the windows cracked to take in the fresh air. :-)
Driving toward Hillcrest, you drive through a transitioning area, but our neighborhood is an older one with beautiful homes and wonderful neighbors. It is quiet and peaceful. It is ½ a mile to a running path along the river on the SE side, 10-12 min ride to the Capitol, 20 min to almost anywhere in town. It is a great, easy access location - even if you need to go to Maryland or Virginia. Close to 295 and 495. 10 min to the new SW Waterfront (I love it there!) One of the few streets without zoning for parking, so no zoning or time bound parking tickets!

This is a one bedroom unit with a giant King bed, a full kitchen, washer/dryer, a futon, a daybed, backyard patio area, four bikes to borrow + your own private entrance! Lots of perks for kids from a crib to a play kitchen. *Airbnb laws in DC changed in October 2019 and this is a legal DC short term rental. Yay!*
This is a one bedroom apartment in the lower level of a DC row house. You have your own private back entrance. The back concrete patio area is a great spot to soak up some sun. The unit has great wifi and one smart TV with cable in the main room and another not so smart TV with an HDMI cord and Mac adapter in the bedroom where you can stream from your own computer. There are four bikes to borrow and helmets and yellow safety vests are also provided. KIDS There are lots of perks for kids - childrens books, a play kitchen, kids silverware and plates, sippy cups, wooden toys, a baby bath, a stroller, a pack and play and a kids table with two kid seats are all provided. The home has a pack and play AND a crib. There are also two bike helmets for kids. BIKES There are four adult bikes provided to borrow (more can be picked up at near by Capitol Bikeshare). There are many adult and childrens bike helmets and yellow safety vests for biking for you to borrow. This home is in an excellent location for biking. COFFEE & TEA The home also has coffee and tea provided. There is a coffee pot, a french press, a moka pot, a kettle, a tea brewing pot, an electric kettle and various teas and coffees for you. KITCHEN The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need from a spice rack to a blender. The home has a toaster, a blender, pots and pans of various sizes, a Crockpot (slowcooker), baking sheets, etc.
This home is right near the 11th Street bridge and Anacostia Park. It is a five minute walk to the Busboys + Poets (a lovely restaurant, coffee shop and event space), the Anacostia Arts Center, Turning Natural (smoothie shop), Open Crumb, 7-11 and Subway. There is a bike share 4 mins from the house. There are always scooters in the neighborhood. It is super easy and quick to bike/scooter across the 11th Street Bridge. You can bike to Navy Yard and Eastern Market in 10-15 minutes and you can be on Capitol Hill by bike in 20 minutes (or less if you are fast!) The Anacostia Metro is a 15 minute walk from the house. There are multiple bus lines a five min walk away that will take you for to the Metro, over to Eastern Market + H Street and there is even a Circulator (my favorite bus) which is $1 and takes you to Union Station (DC’s main train and bus station - also the stop for the US Senate). In the other direction it will take you to the Anacostia Metro. The Anacostia Park is an absolutely beautiful place to run or take a very long scenic bike ride. The Anacostia Park has a giant pirate ship playground for kids. It also has an outdoor covered roller skating rink that is super fun in the summer. I highly recommend it!
  • I highly recommend staying in Laura’s Airbnb. It’s just a quick 10 to 15 minute Uber ride to all of the historic monuments, and museums. Parking was not an issue. And the air BnB was clean, and comfortable!

Available mostly year-round. Both long-term and short stays are welcome. Long-term stays are for one person only or there will be an additional charge for two people over a 7-day stay. In case you are allergic to cats, there are few running around though they do not go in the guest room unless you want them to and only one of them would be mildly interested in getting your attention! I am a musician, lots of fun, and enjoy meeting new folks. I have a cozy private bedroom with a double bed and private entrance in a 1919 bungalow in Hyattsville's historic and arts district, which is less than two miles from the D.C. border and within five miles of the University of Maryland College Park, Catholic University, Howard University, Gallaudet University, and Trinity Washington University. Also about 20 minutes from NOAA, NASA, Discovery Communications, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington Navy Yard... It's a 1.3 mile walk/drive from the West Hyattsville metro on the Green Line, which is 1 stop outside of DC (15 minute ride to Gallery Place, 10 minute ride to U Street). A shuttle bus to the metro is just a block from the house, which operates on weekdays. The house is within just a few miles of major thoroughfares such as 495/95, 50 (to Annapolis), and 295 (to Baltimore); 30-40 minutes from BWI; 25-35 minutes to Reagan National Airport, and about an hour from Dulles International Airport. We are about 20 minutes from Union Station. The house is also walking distance to the new Arts District development - Busboys and Poets restaurant and events venue, Yes Organic Market, Tara Thai, Franklin's Brewpub, Vigilante Coffee, Pizza Paradiso, Shortcake Bakery, Chipotle, Elevation Burger, a frozen yogurt place, and a yoga studio. We also back up to Magruder Park, with walking and bike trails connecting to DC. We are within a few miles of the Chocolate City Brewing Company, New Columbia Distillery and Union Market. We are also in the middle of the burgeoning Gateway Arts District, with the Washington Glass School and Studio, Glut Food Co-op, & Joe's Movement Emporium (drop-in yoga!) just a mile away. Parking space available.
  • My partner and I loved our stay with Janine. She was a very welcoming host, and our stay was great value for money. Janine went out of her way to help to do our laundry, give us a ride to the metro station, and offer us home-baked cookies (which were delicious!). Janine also gave great tips and recommendations of places to visit in the city. Thank you Janine for your warm hospitality!

  • We had a great time at Janine's. She is very welcoming and warm ! She recommended some nice places in DC. The room is very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend that you sleep at Janine's house !

    Candice2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • I’ve had quite a few wonderful Airbnb hosts but NONE compare to Janine!! She was incredibly hospitable and made sure we felt right at home. I can’t imagine what our trip to DC would have been like, because she helped us out so much. Seriously, Janine is the BEST! She even made my boyfriend coffee in the morning and shared homemade cookies with us! Her home is so cute and very clean—really just an overall wonderful place to stay!

    Kelly2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Janine is a very caring landlord who can accurately capture the needs of the guests and help you as much as possible. Every day, she uses the car to take the subway. Every day, she staggers the time with us to use the kitchen, and also gives the whole table to us, although we only have two mothers and daughters. I lived in Janine's house for 10 days. This is the first time I have lived in the same place. Her cookware is very complete and very easy to use, especially the silicone shovel. I bought it online. set. Janine will also teach the child to learn a piano piece quickly, and the child will not forget to prepare a small gift for the child's birthday. In short, it is a very beautiful person.

    Hong2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Janine’s house and Hyattsville all together! The house is stylish, just the right amount of vintage and quirky as well as clean. The neighborhood looks lovely, has multiple very nice local restaurants and coffee bars and feels safe. Also, very conveniently located just out of D.C.!

    Robin2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Janine's place is really awesome and in a fantastic area. During our stay there was a heatwave in D.C. and Janine really went out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable.
