Places to stay in Slaughter Beach
Our home sits right on the beach with a wildlife refuge just behind our house. Not your typical beach house decor. This is a sophisticated home furnished in the mid century modern / contemporary style. PLEASE NOTE- We have two very sweet Greyhounds. If you have pet allergies we may not be the best choice for you.
Our home is an open floor plan on the first floor with a deck and a screened in porch. Both the deck and the screened in porch face the bay. The upstairs consists of two guest rooms each with a queen sized bed. There is a full bath shared by the room bedrooms that can secured for privacy by either of the guest rooms..
While you are visiting Slaughter Beach, here are some options nearby: Slaughter Beach- From the Slaughter Beach town website: Slaughter Beach was founded in 1681 and incorporated in 1931. How Slaughter Beach got its name has been debated over the years. Early maps show a small creek named Slaughter Creek, which flowed through the marsh from the Cedar Creek south and emptied into the Delaware Bay just north of Prime Hook Beach. Just to the southwest of the town is an area called “Slaughter Neck”. Neck was/is a term used to describe upland areas between two key boundary areas. Another theory is the first postmaster for this locality had the last name of Slaughter. The naming of Slaughter Beach has two more colorful stories. In the spring and early summer horseshoe crabs come ashore to spawn. Wave action flips the crabs over where they are left to die in the hot sun, thus the “Slaughter of the Crabs.” The most colorful story has to be of Indians attacking early settlers in the area. Upon hearing the news, the leader of the settlers arranged a meeting on the beach with the Indian Chief so the settlers “God” could “speak” to the Indians and make peace. The leader had the Indians gather around their “God”, a cannon, and fired the cannon killing all the Indians – thus the “Slaughter of the Indians.” Like the naming of Slaughter Beach, the town has gone through many changes. Slaughter Beach in the early years was primarily a resort for Milford area residents during the summer months. In its hey-day, Slaughter Beach had a dance hall, hotels and a boardwalk. With the advance of the automobile and road systems, more and more people started traveling to the Rehoboth area and Slaughter Beach turned into a sleepy little seasonal fishing village. Present day Slaughter Beach has a full time population of 198 people with a much higher summertime population. Slaughter Beach also has become much more of a year-round community for part time residents looking to escape for brief periods from the “real world.” The following was posted by Debi on Eat Sleep Travel Repeat. It is an excellent overview of Slaughter Beach. I know the name sounds scary. But the beach is beautiful. The town, and beach, was founded in 1681. There is a lot of talk over how Slaughter beach truly got its name. Some old maps show a small creek named, Slaughter Creek, which flowed from through the marsh of Cedar Creek south and emptied into the Delaware bay just north of Prime Hook Beach. There is also a town called “Slaughter Neck”, Neck being a term that is used to describe upland areas between two key boundary areas. There is another theory is the first postmaster, whose last name was Slaughter, and the town was named for his locality. There are 2 more colorful stories about how Slaughter Beach got its name. The most unsettling story of the beach’s name has to be of the Indians attacking early settlers in the area. When the leader of the settlers heard of the attack, the leader of the settlers arranged a meeting with the Indian Chief so the settlers’ “God” could “speak” to the Indians and there could be peace. So as the Indians gathered around a cannon, the Settlers’ “God”, the settlers fired the cannon and killed all of the Native Americans. It was the “Slaughter of the Indians.” Most likely, or I would like to believe, the name of the town came from the horseshoe crabs. Every Spring and early Summer, the horseshoe crabs come ashore to spawn. The waves often flip the crabs over, leaving them stranded. The crabs then die in the hot sun. And it is the “Slaughter of the Crabs” Now Slaughter Beach is A Horseshoe Crab Sanctuary and A Certified Wildlife Habitat Community. SEASONAL ITEMS OF INTEREST: (FROM THE VISITOR INFORMATION OF SLAUGHTER BEACH) •April/May: Baby Diamondback Terrapin Hatchlings have been emerging and moving from bay side to the marsh. Keep an eye out as they cross the road. If you find one move it to the marsh side of the road. •May/June/July: Female Diamondback Terrapins will start nesting activity in the coming months. The females will leave the marsh and start looking for sandy areas to nest in. This means a dangerous crossing of Bay Ave. Please keep an eye out for them. If you find and move it, please make sure you send her in the direction she was going. •April/May/June: Shore Birds are returning. Please disturb them as little as possible, they have come a great distance to feed and fatten up before flying north to nest. •May/June/July/August: Horseshoe Crabs will be returning usually starting in May and lingering through August. The heaviest concentration is usually in late May through June. If you see one flipped on its back, just roll turn it over. Never pick it up by the tail and if you find a tagged one, please do not remove the tag and report the information following the directions on the tag. Volunteers are needed for the spawning survey, if your are interested see Bill or Rose at the S.B. Mini Mart. •September/October: Fall migration of the Shore Birds and Monarch Butterflies. Present day Slaughter Beach has a full time population of 198 people with a much higher summertime population. • My husband and I sooo enjoyed our weekend at Bill and Dan's beautiful home on the beach. Peaceful at night on the back porch listening to the ocean...relaxing bike rides...very tasty breakfast...accommodations were great--good nights sleep...and so enjoyed our hosts as well. Definitely a repeat for us!

  • Absolutely the best home we have ever shared! From Bill's impeccable taste to his amazing breakfasts.. We felt so special! The house is situated so there are water views even from the upstairs landing. The beach is right there! A huge factor for my daughter and I. You haven't had a relaxing, fun time til you've stayed with Bill. We are already planning a return visit.

  • What a lovely Place to stay ! Very comfortable , Amazing Enclosed Screen Porch for Lounging ! Loved It !

    Neal2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • I've never had an AirBnB experience as fantastic as this one. Bill's home is within feet of Slaughter beach, a very low traffic and gorgeous Delaware beach. We spent a lot of time walking the shore looking for sea glass as well as sitting in Bill's covered porch reading and watching the waves with his two greyhounds. The room was also very private and secure, and I always felt very safe. There was also an area to park for free. The best part of the trip though was getting to know the other guests and Bill and Dan. We talked with Bill, Dan, and the other guests for hours over a beautiful breakfast cooked by Bill. We felt very comfortable with them and really enjoyed sharing stories over breakfast. If you're looking for a relaxing beach weekend hosted by incredibly kind, smart, and hilarious people, look no further than Bill's!

There are tennis courts and a playground down the street across from the fire house, and swings in the front yard. The Delaware Bay is about 100 feet from the house. The bay is great for sailing, wind surfing, crabbing, or just swimming! The cottage has three bedrooms, two with double beds and one with twin bunk beds. There is also a couch which folds out into a double bed, which has privacy curtains. The Beach Cottage has excellent views, a cozy decor and a gas fireplace to complete the experience. Gary2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, cozy beachfront cottage, has all that you need to spend a relaxing week at the beach. Remember to bring water shoes for the beach, lots of horseshoe crabs around.

  • Great place!!

    Jeanette2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazingly cute and quiet little cottage tucked away by the bay. With beautiful sunrises and serene sounds of nature. All the amenities you need to enjoy a great family vacation. Came here with my family and friends and enjoyed toasting marshmallows on a bonfires, strolls on the beach, bbqs, building sand castles, pushing my nephew on the swing in front of the yard and bike riding to the marsh. Walmart is conveniently located only 18 mins away for everything you need. The host is very responsive with any inquiries usually within an hour. Bugs are quite troublesome at night and citronella and big spray was our friend but all and all we had a great time and will hopefully be visiting again.

  • This is a very sweet quiet spot on the beach on the Delaware River, which is a tidal river. The house is clean and has a very nice decor. The kitchen is completely stocked with every thing you would need, including many staples. Elisabeth is super prompt in her responses to questions, and an excellent host.

    Liza2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This house and stay far exceeded our expectations! The home is beautiful and tastefully decorated. When we entered, there were even fresh flowers on the gorgeous antique dining table. We have been renting in this area for a while and this was by far the easiest process so far. It was so convenient to not have to bring linens with us. Also, there’s not a bad view in the house. The master bedroom looks out onto the bay and it’s such a peaceful way to wake up. Elisabeth was such an accommodating host. We had some questions before our stay began and she was always very quick to answer. We enjoyed our stay so much and were so sad to have to leave. We will definitely look here again next year.

  • Elisabeth’s place was a perfect low key getaway at the Delaware Bay. Our visit was in late August giving us the benefit of enjoying the summer and fall experience. The fire pit on the beach was the perfect activity for a chilly evening under an amazing sunset. The view from the house made a spectacular storm fun while we watched movies on the big screen TV. On warm, sunny days access to the beach just steps from the house made it easy for our family to relax by the a water at each person’s own pace. Anyone could return to the house for snacks, meals and naps — which were all quite tempting with the deep couches, great view and well appointed kitchen. We also loved having a super comfortable king bed and the convenience of a gas grill on the deck.

  • We had such a wonderful time at this home. It had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. My adult children and i all want to come back. Thank you for making this such wonderful and restful respite from our busy city life.

    Carol2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. It was perfect for a relaxing vacation away from the busy beach towns but close enough to spend the day shopping in Rehobeth or going to the beach. We loved collecting rocks on the beach, fishing and playing games!

  • This house is what you think of when you want a beach house. From the decor, to the view, to the little extras the home owners think of to make your stay more enjoyable. From having extra things on hand that you may not even think of bringing from home, but would want for the beach and area, to the huge cooks kitchen. This house really was home for the week for us. From crabbing in the creek around the corner, fishing 50 yards off the back deck, to collecting shells with my 9 year old daughter, memories for a lifetime. We hope to come back again. Thank you for the week we rented from you!!!❤❤❤

  • This was our second year staying at this wonderful home on the beach and it was just as great as the first year. We had an amazing time on the beach finding shells and rocks. We loved looking out the back windows watching the wildlife roam. On the last night we watched dolphins swimming all over the bay and then we spotted two red foxes in the backyard. We loved walking around Lewes and the kids loved Funland at Rehobeth beach, Midway Raceway Park, Movies at Midway and also the Dupont Nature Center. There’s a ton of other great places a short drive away. We love that the beach and house is secluded and away from all the commotion of the large beaches. It’s great for little ones and if you want to go check out the other beaches it’s a short drive away. The house was super clean and well taken care of. Thank you for letting us enjoy your beach house another year!

  • This is a great place to stay and I definitely felt like I was home. The stay was very quiet and Mary was extremely helpful and understanding. I was running behind schedule and Mary was extremely flexible with my check in and check out time. It was very clean and the rules are simple and clear. I recommend this property to anyone that is in the area. I will definitely stay again when I come to Delaware.

Cute house on cul-de-sac that is just off the highway within city limits. It's quiet, clean, and minutes away from the heart of Milford. We're close to restaurants/bars, Walmart, Starbucks and many other stores, and within a 1/2 hour drive to beaches/resorts, wildlife refuge, and the capital of Delaware. Jerry and I work at least 40 hours a week and are very much on the go, so we are not home that often. We also have a friendly dog named Hombre who will not be in your way.
The guest room is downstairs in the basement across from the pool room, so you are can enjoy your privacy. Jerry and I are very clean and neat, and know how to respect another person's habits, daily schedules, and living arrangement.
Our favorite neighbor, Angela, lives just next door. She is an elderly Greek woman who enjoys baking us cookies and baklava at various times throughout the year. We have a Planet Fitness Gym just across the street, which is in the same shopping center as many other stores, including my favorite -- Starbucks!
  • Clean private room in a quiet neighborhood, close to restaurants and shopping.

  • Had a pleasant stay at Wayne's residence. Wayne is a gregarious host and has a cute dog! The space is on the basement level and provides for the essentials including: heating, air conditioning, and a television. There is also a game room (quite awesome) and a place to do laundry if required. Communication is quick and the check-in process smooth. Malls and local eateries are within a few minutes driving. A great place to stay for its value!

  • On a March trip to DE to visit family, we chose this quiet, clean, spacious apartment for our stay. The apartment, was well appointed with everything you would need and more. The eclectic decor with a mix of vintage schoolhouse and modern furnishings suited the farm like setting. We enjoyed being entertained by the goats and chickens in the yard. Convenient location between Routes 113 and 13. Enjoyed our stay!

You will be staying in a private guest suite with your own private bathroom and outside private secure entrance. The room is attached to the main house but there are no shared common areas. We do live in the main house full time so you may hear us rattling around from time to time and coming and going or working in the yard but most of our time is spent at the opposite end of the house. The room is completely private and inaccessible from the main house.
Just minutes from RT1 makes for a short trip to the Delaware beaches of Lewes (22 mi), Rehoboth (26 mi), Dewey (26 mi), Bethany (37 mi) and Fenwick Island (41 mi). Also close by is the sports at the beach complex (17 mi) and the Delaware Turf sports complex (11 mi)
  • Daniel was quick to respond to a minor concern. The room was very clean and comfortable. We did not hear anything from the main house & the surroundings were peaceful.

  • We LOVED our stay at Marylisa's! It was the perfect size for our family, spotlessly clean when we arrived, and the welcome book was current (which was really helpful as we went in the fall). Marylisa was very helpful with suggestions for things to do with our kids on a rain day and also very quick to communicate. It was so quite and relaxing. The views from the decks were a perfect way to enjoy coffee drinking in the morning. We loved our fall getaway and would definitely recommend staying here anytime of the year based on the cleanliness, location, and wonderful hostess.

We had planned to camp out this weekend but when the campsites filled up, the carport “glampsite” was the perfect step up!! No tent to deal with—added bonuses of a euro fridge/freezer, running water, flushing toilet, indoor AND outdoor showers (showering outdoor was amazing!) and two sweet/calm guard dogs to boot!! Nicholas was super kind & helpful. He went out of his way to accommodate every request. We would stay again in a heartbeat!!

  • Diane includes many amenities that are not listed that show how attentive to her guests she is, such as a Roku for the TV (with her own Netflix account for you to use!), a binder full of menus for all restaurants within walking distance, and even a little drawer with some games inside. This was my first time using AirBnB and Diane went above and beyond my expectations. The place looked very modern and was extremely clean. I will for sure be booking with her in the future if I decide to come back to Lewes!

  • Very cute set up with all the comforts of home. Definitely a great use of the space and a short 10-15 mins walk to the main area of town. Cape Henlopen Beach was definitely the better of the beach spots, especially Herring Point! Beautiful! Any of the beaches will need to be a car or bike ride though. Side note....the WiFi worked great but the router may need unplugging and plugging back in if there are any issues hooking up.

  • Two years here in a row and it's always great. You're within walking distance of everything, the food options are stellar, and the space itself is extremely charming. Worth the money to stay here for sure if you're going to be in Lewes or Rehoboth.

Beach front home located in secluded Prime Hook Beach DE. Feel the hectic world fall away as you drive through the scenic Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. Enjoy your morning coffee on the deck with the sunrise or a glass of wine in the evening watching the sunset. Activities such as birding, fishing or walks on a quiet beach right at your feet. Nearby is Dogfish Head Brewing Co., DE Turf Sports, Tanger Outlets, De State Fairgrounds, Historic Milton, Lewes, and Rehoboth Beach.
This season, since we had so many requests for nature watch/sightseeing cruises and fishing trips with Capt. Jack on our boat, we are offering them at reduced rates to our guests! The cruises offer spectacular bird watching opportunities particularly during the spring horseshoe crab season with birds such as oyster catchers, ruddy turnstones and others flashing by before they turn in unison, practically brushing the bow of the boat! Dolphin sightings are commonplace around the inlet, and the sunsets with the osprey chirping from their nests are spectacular! Short fishing trips offering light tackle bottom fishing in the Delaware Bay or Mispillion River offer you a chance to fish for a variety of species. Slightly longer big game trips in Delaware Bay can be arranged for big, booming (the boat literally vibrates when they are underneath!) black drum or sharks, particularly in spring and early summer. Our inlet is perfectly situated and we are normally fishing in fifteen minutes. Bait, tackle and ice are all provided and fish cleaning is available. Our boat has the very latest in navigational and fish finding equipment, and Capt. Jack has decades of experience operating headboats and charter boats. We hope that you enjoy your stay with us here in beautiful Prime Hook Beach. We truly believe that no other beach rental can offer you the range of experiences you can choose with us. We are looking forward to seeing our friends, old and new alike, this season!
Prime Hook Beach is quiet and secluded yet close enough to Lewes and Rehoboth for shopping. Fishing is allowed (with a license) and bonfires are always a welcome addition in the fall. Enjoy the quiet September evenings around a bonfire with a glass of wine and/or roasting marshmallow. Spring heralds the arrival of the horseshoe crabs who lay clutches of eggs and offers a veritable feast for the shorebirds before continuing their journey to the arctic. Sunny, steamy days encourage many to cool off in the calm bay waters.
  • From the minute we stepped on the property we knew we found a really special place. Super clean home with the whole second floor to ourselves. And the views from inside the bedroom to the ocean were amazing and very relaxing! Kathy added lots of special touches to make us feel welcome and pampered. We just got home and miss it already. Thanks again Kathy for your sweet hospitality and kindness.

    Cendy2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a hidden gem! I was inspired by Delia Owens book ‘where the Crawdads Sing’ to stay in the marshes and explore the wildlife. This spot was perfect, the drive to & from the property spectacular. Kathy & Jack have a lovely, warm and welcoming home and I couldn’t have asked for more.

    Tiziana2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely spot. Right on the water. We were on the second floor so had a great view. We had our own deck and deck chairs that we could use inside or outside. It was a spectacular view of the water and beach. It was quiet and beautifully furnished.

    Terry2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts were available when needed and our space was very private at the same time. Beautiful views from private deck and beach is literally steps away.

  • Mckenzie is a great host. She had some really good info on local restaurants. The home was clean, warm and cozy. Would definitely stay there again.

    Michael2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Mckenzie's place is quite nice. Very comfortable and laid back, even the dog Roxi is super cool. Perfect for our time at a sports tournament at the DE Turf fields which are just 10 minutes up the road. Do make sure you know the 2nd bed is an air mattress which was fine for us but some may not like that. Overall a great experience and I would not hesitate to book again.

    Rob2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The place was exactly what we needed for a night. McKenzie was very polite in all conversations and left us the entire downstairs to use while we were there. There was a small dog that had free range of the house that made the stay even better!

    Michele2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely time here!! A great place and super sweet doggie!!

    Gulce2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice, clean and quiet space with on-site parking. Guests have a bedroom, private bathroom and an office area with a desk to work on, if needed. The hosts, McKenzie and Hunter are a young couple and are very accommodating. Most of the time they are either at work, out or in their private upstairs quarters so guests do have a good amount of privacy. They made space in their kitchen so that I was able to cook and store food and not have to rely on take out or dining out. They have a sweet and friendly lit small dog, Roxie, who will be happy to include guests in her “family”.

  • You will absolutely love staying at this Airbnb! It's so creatively setup! It's cute, comfortable, and well-stocked with a variety of great snacks and drink choices! I personally loved the tea choices and honey! Loren is an awesome, hospitable and cool host! Getting to see the beautiful horses, friendly dogs, and sweet cats filled my heart with joy! This was such a great and peaceful place that I wish I was able to stay more than one night. I am very much looking forward to making plans to stay again in the future and have already been telling others about this wonderful hidden-treasure of a location!

    Celena2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • You won't find a better host than Loren. The bed is SO comfortable. Amenities were abundant...coffee, snacks, beverages, etc. The animals were just as good of hosts as Loren! Kitties meow to you. Horses whinny. Dog tails wag excitedly. Close to many attractions. Ward's Wildlife Museum in Salisbury, MD is worth the drive. Then catch a Single A Baseball Game at Shorebirds Stadium, some nights with fantastic fireworks after. And, Ocean City or Rehobeth Beach Boardwalks are a must see.

Broadkill Beach is a must. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax, read your favorite book on an empty beach, fish or crab, this is the place for you. The cottage is located only 100 feet from the beach. Stunning sunrises and sunsets. Located near Prime hook National Wildlife Refuge, a bird watchers paradise. Also nearby is DE Turf and Sports at the Beach for those visiting the area to play in tournaments. In addition, you can visit the famous Rehoboth Boardwalk or Tanger outlets.
If you are a bird watcher, this is the place for you. Located near Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, you can view Bald Eagles, Osprey, Blue Herons, Snowy Egrets and more. Great fishing/crabbing off the beach or bridge. Another added feature is that bonfires on the beach are allowed without having a permit. It is a quiet beach community. Enjoy evenings on the deck. Enjoy the sunrises and/or sunsets. Beach chairs and a gas grill are provided. It is also located near Lewes and Rehoboth. Best seafood on the East Coast.
Broadkill is a quiet beach that has it's own charming convenience store. The store provides its very own handmade donuts on weekends. People from far away come to Broadkill on the weekends for their donuts. On Tuesday’s the Broadkill store also offers sticky buns. Year after year people talk about how good they are. Make sure to stop in and try a donut or sticky bun. The store has a gift shop along with a breakfast menu, full deli, pizza, cheese steaks, French fries, chicken strips and hand dipped Hershey's ice cream. It also has grocery items and toiletries.

We looked high and low for the "perfect" beach property for years. We've spent many Sunday afternoons taking a stroll on the beach (even in winter!). We wanted a location that was quiet, secluded, and where we could enjoy nature and time with our family. Beachwalk fits the bill perfectly. It is quiet, secluded, yet close to major attractions (shopping, restaurants, theaters, golf, etc.).
Come and enjoy island time at your private beachfront escape. No hustle, no bustle, no traffic lights, no crowded beaches. In the mornings, relish the beautiful sunrises over the Delaware Bay, and in the evenings, the gorgeous sunsets over the wildlife refuge behind you. Relax on the beach watching the dolphins swim by, read that book you have been putting off, take a walk along the sandy shore, swim in the bay, comb for seashells and sea glass, or enjoy a bonfire on the beach with family and friends. Pamper yourself with high speed internet, three cable TVs, 100% cotton sheets and towels, a kitchen stocked with cooking essentials, and an open floor plan, with lots of windows, to enjoy the view. Your four-legged friend will appreciate the wraparound deck with a small gated run below that includes a convenient potty-stop, and the fact they are allowed on the beach (with a leash) all year-round. For the days you want more social interaction, it is only a fifteen to twenty minute drive to the following places: touring the Dogfish Head Brewery, shopping at the outlets in Rehoboth, taking in a movie at the Movies of Midway, walking the historic district of Lewes, Delaware’s first settlement, or strolling the boardwalk at Rehoboth (the younger ones will definitely want to tour Funland). We believe you will enjoy the relaxing atmosphere as much as we do. Our home has two queen beds, a bunk bed, and a pull out couch for a total of six guests. The house is built directly on the beach with trees on both sides giving the sense of real personal space. During the last beach replenishment, a double fenced sand dune was placed in front of all properties with access points added every few hundred feet. Our house sits right at one of those entrance points. The two garage spaces, under the house, are accessible from the inside in case of inclement weather. It is also where the grills are kept. Additional parking is available in the driveway. We are glad to assist in making your stay a 5-star visit. Our information book in the kitchen is filled with lots of helpful tips and local advice. We learned a long time ago that family & friend vacations were worth the investment; a small price to pay for wonderful memories and great personal connections. We count it a privilege to have you stay in our home, BEACHWALK PLACE. Brett and Natalie Venable
We are located at the south end of Broadkill Beach. Our home is right ON THE BEACH, so you can see and hear the waves and beach wildlife. Our section of Broadkill is quiet and peaceful. We are a short drive from the boardwalk and activity in Rehoboth Beach or the quaint shops in Lewes.
  • This is a beautiful, comfortable home in a gorgeous location.

    Shawn2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Natalie's house is perfect in every way. It is right on the beach, so the view is magnificent and you can hear the sound of the sea in every room. We loved listening to the waves while falling asleep and it's the first thing you hear in the morning. The sunrise from the porch is spectacular and we enjoyed taking long walks and seeing the sunset over the marsh. If you are looking for a quiet, serene, unspoiled beach, then I recommend staying at Natalie's! It is beautifully designed, super clean and well organized, with a fully stocked kitchen. She even welcomed us with fresh muffins when we arrived!

    Jana2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • I love this house on the beach super clean the only downfall it’s in the middle of winter and we couldn’t go swimming

    Alice2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • This house is wonderful! Comfortable, quiet, right on the beach with everything we needed!

    Susan2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a peaceful getaway from the noise then this is the place to go. Heck even my cell phone had 1 or 2 bars so it’s peaceful. There is great WiFi so no worries on staying in touch. Serene and clean and the beach is great and a November polar plunge was refreshing!

    Jeffrey2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay. The home was very clean upon arrival, the views were wonderful and the location provided very good access to restaurants and shopping. The hosts were very hospitable and were available when needed. We will recommend to friends and family and will very likely rent again. We very much appreciated this home being pet friendly.

    Matt2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay. The house is exactly as described, very well stocked, has amazing views, and is kept extremely clean. We brought our dog and this house is very well designed to accommodate a dog, as the large wrap around porch is secured on both sides, and there is a covered area under the deck that is also secured. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a quiet beachfront getaway, and I would definitely stay there again.

    Drew And Sheryl2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house was absolutely amazing! Very clean, amazing location and view. Natalie responded quickly to any questions. One of most relaxing vacations in a long time. The best part was being able to bring the dog. It’s so rare to find pet friendly vacation rentals that are so impeccably clean. We’ve been looking for an annual spot in the area and I think we found it!

Minutes out of downtown Milford, but feels like the country. Convenient to Dover AFB, Dover Downs, Dover, Raceway, Rehoboth and Lewes beaches and shopping. The lot is heavily wooded and faces a corn field. Heated mattress pad for cozy winter sleeping. Sitting chair, living room access, and sun room is available for a quiet place to work. Starting March 11, 2020 - PUPPY! It has plusses and downsides. I plan on sleeping in sun rom away from guests if nighttime fussing materializes.
Guest self-check-in with keypad lock if I'm not here. Check in after 9:00 pm only by prior arrangement with me. Message me with your reason for being late, please.
It's generally a peaceful country road, with little traffic, yet just off of Delaware Route 1. Wooded lot in subdivision equally quiet. We have a couple of neighborhood roosters. I like hearing from them in the morning.

Our apartment is light, airy with a beach theme. We are located in the quaint town of Milton, Delaware approximately 11 miles from the beach in Lewes and 15 miles to Rehoboth Beach. Many restaurants to choose from in Milton as well as Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and the Milton Theater, hosting many different shows each year.
The apartment was a renovated garage, but you would never know it! The soft grey walls, white trim and beach theme will invite you to visit the beaches without paying the beach prices! Enjoy the entire apartment to yourself with a keyless private entrance, full bath with washer and dryer to wash out those bathing suites, and a fully stocked coffee bar! There is no stove/oven in this apartment. We do offer a microwave, a small toaster oven and an induction burner with a small pot and small frying pan. At this time, there is no real outdoor space. This is a plan for us in the future, but at this time, no back yard space to speak of. However, with so many different beaches to choose from, outdoor activities are plentiful a short distance away.
Milton is a quaint town that is expanding their offerings. We have around 7 restaurants in town with a variety of food offereings (Mexican, Creole, Seafood, etc). Milton is also home to the Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and the renovated Milton Theater that offers a variety of shows and movies throughout the year. We are close to Lewes, Delaware, the first town in the first state where the Cape Henlopen State Park is located as well as the Cape May/Lewes Ferry that goes back and forth to Cape May, New Jersey. Further down the highway is Rehoboth Beach and its' Boardwalk. You can go to FunLand for small rides, get pizza at Grotto's Pizza or popcorn at Dolly's. There is the Nassau Vinyards, Briminghorn Meadery, or Blue Oyster Brewery in the Lewes area as well. This and much more. Come join us during the height of summer or the quiet of winter! Check out our Guidebook for listings of local eating spots, activities and other locations that may give you ideas of where to go and what to do on your vacation.
  • This is a wonderful Air BNB. Kathy and Jim have created a beautiful and spacious guest apartment in their cute town of Milton. The place is spotless, quiet, nicely decorated, and has everything a guest would need. My teenage soccer player really appreciated the snacks and cold drinks. We didn’t meet Kathy and Jim in person but they were easy and pleasant to communicate with. We highly recommend their place to others traveling to Delaware.

    Susanna2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful find in a quaint town close to the beach. We found the place very clean with many special touches mentioned in the other reviews. We were able to walk into town for a show at the Milton Theater and were a short drive to our favorite beaches. We would recommend this location for couples who want space to spread out a little in a quiet neighborhood. Oh, and any fans of DFH.

Cute, roomy, snacks, coffee pods, hair drier, extra blankets & pillows, etc. Quiet neighborhood. We may make this place an annual tradition!

    Nissa2019-12-26T00:00:00Z

If you like sun, this is the place for you! Between the front door, three windows and a glass sliding door, it gets a lot of sun all day long and has a refreshing cross-breeze when you open the doors and windows! The neighborhood is quiet and close to everything. You could even walk to the outlets or the movies! The futon could easily be used for a someone around 5’ tall.
It is a quiet neighborhood with a mix of seasonal and full time residents.
  • TJ was a beautiful host. Let us check in a bit early. The space was clean and inviting. If we're lucky enough to get away without kids again, we'll definitely be back. Was a wonderful anniversary.

  • This is a five star AIR BNB in my book. The place is sparkling clean and equipped for a comfortable stay. You have many stores right there, movie theatres, restaurants. The beach is quaint and relaxing and just right up the road. This is perfect for sun or rain.

    Cheryl2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful space! The studio is about a 15 minute drive to the beach and the boardwalk, and is very convenient for shopping, restaurants, etc. It was very clean and homey, and just the perfect size for 2 people. :)

    Ashley2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place for my short r&r stay. Communication was quick, check in was very easy, the place was comfortable and very clean and the location was exactly what I needed. Thank you for the stay!

  • Our stay at TJ's place was incredible. She was always quick to respond and even checked in on us throughout our stay. Check in was simple and the place was just what we expected! She added the sweetest touches with a fresh bouquet of flowers and herbs and a handwritten welcome note. We had everything we needed throughout our stay and the place was very clean. The location is perfect to quickly get to the outlets, downtown Rehoboth, and Downtown Lewes, and yet was in a quiet and safe neighborhood. We couldn't have asked for a better stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone! Thanks for the hospitality, TJ!

    Vanessa2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean studio! Great location for fun filled events. Only minutes away from beach :) Amazing host. Thanks for a pleasant stay T!

  • WONDERFUL airbnb. TJ is a great host. Welcomed us warmly. Everything you could ask for in a place - private entrance, so close to the beach, fully stocked kitchen, clean and stylish decor. Would certainly recommend and would book here again. :)

Guest cottage backing to Primehook Wildlife Refuge and across the street from Delaware Bay. Ideal for nature lovers and bird watchers. The cottage is centrally located between DE TURF Sports Complex and the ocean beaches. Cottage is completely open plan (except for bathroom.) Indoor bathroom has shower (no tub); there is an outdoor shower as well.
Open-plan living in newly renovated beach cottage. Public access to private bay beach across the street; house is on nature preserve with water in back. Beautiful and peaceful retreat for families, couples and/or anyone who appreciates modern design.
Primehook Beach is a neighborhood of a few hundred homes with a mixture of full-time and summer residents. Perfect for biking, fishing, crabbing, walking, bird-watching and kayaking. Photographers love our incredible sunsets - nighttime sky enthusiasts appreciate stargazing without ambient glare.
  • This is a beautiful and quiet place to stay, off the beaten track of bustling beach towns. The cottage has an incredible view of the wildlife refuge - one could sit and watch the birds for hours. It's also across the street from the beach. As other reviewers indicated, the beach is unmaintained and bring bug spray. The peace and quiet cannot be beat. The cottage is well equipped, and stylish, and also a short drive from the many restaurants of Lewes and Rehoboth. Highly recommended!

    Mary2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoy the ocean breeze and the wonderful view of birds on the wildlife refuge side. If you have a screenhouse, bring it if you don't like to where bug spray. The front porch is fine from the sea breeze. The back of the house is buggy but a screenhouse would allow you enjoy the view from the outside. We enjoyed watching the birds from the inside. The view was great.

    Dianna2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a cool experience. Uber cute cottage fronts a bay with great birdwatching - swallows and swifts, egrets and herons, hummingbirds and ospreys, lots of butterflies. A short walk to the beach. Very wild and very secluded, felt like we had it all to ourselves. My son and i spend hours searching the tide pools for critters and shells. Water was warm and surf very calm even when beaches nearby were rough and cold. Would definitely return!

    Lance2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The beach cottage is located in a wildlife sanctuary. If you enjoy peace and quiet and to be surrounded by nature you will enjoy it...we sure did! The cottage has a great view of the salt marsh and it was great to watch the birds and wildflowers with a cup of coffee each morning. The bay beach which is right across the street is great to take a swim or relax on the sand with a book. If you have a kayak it would also be great for that. The beach is apparently a breeding ground for horseshoe crabs and there are many horseshoe crab carcasses on the beach which do smell a bit, so if you are squeemish about that you should be aware. For us it was not an issue. We saw many, many ospreys and other birds on the way in and out of the sanctuary each day and one bald eagle. The cottage itself is comfortable and cute and suited our needs well. The outdoor shower is great. Wine and cheese left by the hosts was a welcome treat. We couldn't figure out how to change the channel on the TV so some directions would possibly help but we are not big TV watchers so we didn't bother messaging our hosts to ask about that. I'm sure if we did they would have helped...they were very responsive to any messages we sent. Overall we highly recommend especially for nature lovers!

  • Great little place to stay!

    Clraber306@Gmail.Com2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Diane and Yvonne are the most gracious hosts. The cottage is storybook cute and was the perfect space for our mini vacation. The outdoor shower surrounded by wetlands is amazing. Wine and cheese were waiting for me upon arrival. They go above and beyond. You will be very happy here.

    Heather2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at this darling cottage! Perfect for a relaxing getaway with very convenient location!

    Joseph2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great beach location. We had the beach to ourselves - just us and one other family. We loved it after seeing how crowded Rehoboth was. It was a good beach for my eight year old - the waves were manageable and the sand was soft. The woman in the mint green house offered us a beach umbrella one day, and cold drinks and the use of her outdoor shower! So welcoming! The cottage itself is cute and functional. We had everything we needed (thank you for the coffee creamers and the cheese and crackers!) The beds were super comfortable and we loved waking up to the view of the preserve every morning. Seemed like most stores and restaurants were at least a 15 minute drive, which was fine for us.

Light, airy cabin next to main house! We are a bit off the beaten path so WiFi and Internet can be a bit spotty at times. You will have a private entrance, stand alone building with towels, sheets, and toiletries provided. Plus, on site parking for up to 2 cars! Great fishing as the river on property is fed by brackish water from the Delaware bay! If you have more than 1 pet per stay, please request approval before booking.
Less than 3 miles to Delaware Turf Sports Center, 4 miles from Mispillion River Brewing, 7 miles from Bowers beach, 18 miles to Dover Downs Casino with NASCAR race track, 30 miles from Lewes and Rehoboth Beach.
This home is in a great neighborhood off the beaten path! Just 2 miles off route 1, a few miles from restaurants, and Milford city center!
  • Heather was an amazing host! House is the cleanest property we have ever stayed in! Nice access to the river. Super easy to load and unload our stuff, parking right next to house and only a couple of steps onto porch. We travel with two dogs and visited nearby Killeen State Park for several walks on the trails. Also visited a local winery and brewery. Photographed birds at Bombay Hook and Cambridge, had to drive a bit to those locations. Driving is a pleasure, no traffic and miles and miles of farmland.

    Beth2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful spot! Snug space but perfect for two and a pup (who loved swimming in the river even though it was 29 degrees...!). Everything was exactly as advertised. Would stay again :)

  • The river house is a fantastic getaway place while visiting the Delaware coastal area. Heather is a fantastic host with a great property well worth the price. It’s cozy and comfortable. This is my second time staying there and it will certainly not be my last. A true hidden gem. Thanks Heather!!

This house is in the perfect location! Very cute, updated duplex is perfect for small families and couples looking to enjoy the beach and the establishments Dewey has to offer, within walking distance to Rehoboth, too. A block from the famous Starboard, this great duplex still feels secluded and is very quiet. Enjoy your coffee or a drink on the front deck. Close enough to the beach to walk home for lunch or the bathroom! Close to outlets. All the best of Dewey in one place!
Two bedrooms, 1 bath with an updated kitchen and spacious front deck. Washer/dryer in unit. Tandem off-street parking.
Dewey Beach and Rehoboth have something for everyone! Dewey is more lively, and also has great restaurants and shops. The beach is clean, wide, and beautiful. Rehoboth has a slightly quieter, family-friendly vibe with a boardwalk, ice-cream shops and Funland to keep the kids young and old entertained. 3 large outlet malls are nearby for rainy days.
  • We had a great time here with the pup! Beach is just outside and house is the perfect, cozy size for a couple and fur child. Thank you for a relaxing weekend!

  • My boyfriend and dogs recently stayed at Erin's place and it was absolutely wonderful! You can't beat the location! This place is a block or less away from the beach - Dewey is dog friendly which was a huge plus! All the great restaurants and bars are within walking distance so it made if convenient after a long day at the beach!! Erin made our check in extremely easy and let us check in early! She was very accommodating and answered questions very quickly! This is definitely a place we would stay at again!

We just got back to PA and wish we would have booked another night. I would love to stay again next trip that's just the 4 of us. It was nice that the cottage sits back. It feels private and is a cool shaded place to eat lunch.

Brand new studio apartment just minutes from the beach, close to the outlets, movies, breakwater junction trail, breweries, and tons of restaurants and entertainment. Take a quick bike ride to Cape Henlopen or save time and money on parking meters with a bus stop just down the street. As a seasoned Airbnb Superhost, I'd like to give you the best experience possible when staying with us.
The studio is a farmhouse-style studio apartment set inside a detached garage, completely independent and private with little to no interaction with anyone else. The unit is fully equipped with all new appliances as it's completely brand new.
The neighborhood is very quiet, located off of rt 1 on the way to the Break Water Junction Trail. The trail takes you to Lewes and Rehoboth so you can ride all the way to either downtown locations, the beach or Cape Henlopen State Park. Nearby we have tons of tax-free shopping and dining and I'd be happy to give you tons of inside recommendations.

This beautiful home is the perfect beach getaway. Spend your days on the pristine beach and your evenings relaxing in a lovely home with plenty of living space. Located in Lewes, DE, one block from the canal, close to historic downtown Lewes, the Delaware Bay at Lewes Beach and the Atlantic Ocean at Cape Henlopen State Park. We have spent many happy summers with our family here. It is our pleasure to share the wonderful small-beach-town Lewes experience with you.
*Please bring your own linens - sheets and towels. We provide paper goods. *7 night minimum during the summer *3 night minimum during Fall, Winter, and Spring.
Our house is located at the end of a very quiet street. The area is filled with birds and very few cars. Lewes, Delaware is a charming and friendly quiet beach town, perhaps the most beloved in Delaware, and certainly a favorite for travelers who savor quiet strolls on boutique-filled streets, or a relaxing meal by the water at one of the town’s excellent restaurants.
  • my family and I ( including my dog ) enjoyed relaxing in the great room. Great location to main Lewes and friendly neighbors. I would consider to come back o enjoy the outside in warm weather.

  • Beautiful place to stay in Lewes. The pictures don’t do it justice.

    Bridget2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great location without being in the high traffic area yet close to downtown Lewes. Everything our family needed was present in this roomy, comfy home. The bright morning sun will jump start your day. Our Host promptly replied to all our questions and provided great tips. ++++++

  • Liz's property was perfect for our family vacation. It's right near the water, the historic downtown of Lewes, and is easily accessible from the interstate (we drove in from the Philadelphia airport.) It easily accommodated 6 adults and could have accommodated many more without feeling crowded. The living area gets a ton of sun in the morning, and I was able to spend a lot of time chatting over coffee with my family in that room. Liz responded within minutes to all of my emails and texts and sent clear instructions for check-in well ahead of time. I know an airbnb is a good value when we get there for a vacation and no one wants to leave because it's so nice, and that was certainly our experience here. Way better than a hotel. Thanks Liz!

    James2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed Liz's home and felt like we had lots of space to explore, including a lovely deck, covered porch, and backyard. The home is right in town, super close to restaurants, shops, and the beach. Everything went smoothly, including easy checkin/checkout with a lockbox and fast and friendly communication with Liz. The house was perfectly clean and we enjoyed the special touches like board games and tips for dining and activities in the area. Hoping to return next summer!

    Erin2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great space and a lovely large back room with wonderful light and restful design. Nice screened porch. Very comfortable for families and a great quiet location close to downtown Lewes. We loved our stay at Liz’s place!

    Lisa2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Liz’s space was perfect for my family’s weekend getaway! The house is beautiful, comfortable & homey. Liz was responsive & helpful- would definitely stay here again & would recommend :)

    Jennifer2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, well-appointed vacation home that worked very well for our family of four and our dog. We loved the backyard, deck, and great room the most as they were perfect for chilling out and hanging together as a family. It's a very clean and comfortable place in a terrific location for exploring on bikes, hanging out in town, or heading to the beach. The beach chairs came in very handy and we all loved using the ping pong table, croquet set, and basketball hoop, especially as the first few days of our stay weren't great for the beach.

The ferry leaves Cape May and arrives in Lewes, DE which is only a 20 min. drive north to Slaughter Beach. Our neighborhood is quiet, peaceful and not crowded. It boarders on the Delaware Bay and the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. It is not uncommon to see migratory waterfowl, ducks, geese, shorebirds and other reptiles & mammals common to the marsh & beach habitat.

Our decor consists of thrift store finds, items (ripped carpets) left by former tenants, & donations from friends &family; It’s not fancy but it’s functional(just a tad tacky) lol The property is shared w/ our landscaping business so there are materials and equipment scattered about (not safe for children sorry, NO CHILDREN UNDER 18 ALLOWED) and there’s not much “curb appeal” but is a work in progress (very slow progress lol) We really hope you enjoy the home&all of it’s lovely imperfections.
Located approximately 2.5 Miles from Historic Milton and Dogfish Head brewery, 10 minutes from Broadkill beach and 20-30 minutes from tax free outlet shopping and resort town beaches. (I may have space blocked so if a night is not available, ask just in case I have a trick up my sleeve lol)
We really enjoy the tranquility that being surrounded by nature provides. The home is just far enough off of the road to enjoy a mostly quiet environment.
  • I stayed at Kristan and Mike's while doing some work in Lewes, DE. It fit exactly what I was looking for, which was a place to crash for the night with a private room. Thanks for the stay!

    Katherine2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place is perfectly described in the ad. WiFi worked great. If you need a place to simply shower and sleep, this is your spot. The owners were very polite with their communication too

  • Perfect for a weekend at dogfish. Only 5 mins away too. Easy to come and go and is a cozy spot to rest for the night.

  • I only stayed for a quick one night visit, and this place is just as described- nothing fancy, but it is super clean, comfortable, practical, and a great value. Very close to Dogfish Head (about 2 miles), which was my main reason for staying here, and a short drive to nearby beaches. Check in was really easy, and communication with Kristan and Mike was quick and clear. Definitely recommend staying here, and if you're going to eat in Milton, I definitely recommend Po' Boys Creole.

  • Beautifully appointed space. Quiet, peaceful, comfy bed and lovely shower. We only stayed one night, but look forward to the next time we can visit. Eugenia’s suggestions for local dog-friendly breweries and eateries were very helpful. We checked out each one and were always greeted warmly by everyone. This community seems so incredibly friendly. We really can’t wait to go back again.

  • I had a long enjoyable day visiting my daughter and wanted nothing but a great night's sleep and this place was perfectly conducive to that end - clean, quiet, and comfortable. Thank you Eugenia for all the tips and looking forward to another stay soon when we can enjoy the lake!

  • We had a great stay at Eugenia’s place. The apartment was very clean and the scenery was beautiful. Excellent location, as it was near lots of parks / outdoor adventures. Made for a nice weekend getaway.

  • Euginia's place is fantastic !! The unit was impeccably clean and comfortable, and Eugenia is a wonderful host. We felt right at home for our short visit to Delaware. Kind of wish we had more time to relax and enjoy all the amenities offered. Thanks again!

  • Everything described and more. The location is exceptional, especially the view over the lake. Cleanliness and hospitality are excellent. The landscaping is meticulous, wish I had your gardener. We will definitely be back.
