“Since the antiquity the area of Kalithea (Καλλιθέα) was known for its thermal, therapeutic springs. In 1927, under the administration of Mario Lago, a systematic study of the waters was initiated headed by Gustavo Gasperini, his son Carlo and Enea Brunetti (who later became the of the director of Terme di Calitea). The study concluded that the water had a range of important properties and proposed the development of the area with the creation of a Thermal Spa Institution that would function in accordance to the stringiest health requirements of the time. Today Kalithea Springs is considered as one of the most distinctive landmarks on the island of Rhodes. Although the spa is no longer in operation, this fabulous building and unique architectural monument, surrounded by palms and pine trees, has been recently restored, converted to dinning and cafe facilities. ”

“The beach at Anthony Quinn bay just 4.5 km. is one of the most beautiful beaches on Rhodes. The waters owe their deep emerald colour to the lush green vegetation which surrounds the beach. Ladiko beach offers fine sand, small rocks, sun beds, umbrellas, tree-clad hills all around, emerald water, showers and a taverna. It is very popular, especially in August. ”

“The Butterfly Valley is located in the northern part of the island, 26 km from the city of Rhodes and 6 km from its west coast. From Kritinia is about 25 km. The Valley of Butterflies stands out for its exceptional natural beauty and of course its winged "inhabitants".It is located near the village of Theologos, on the northwest side of the island, and is one of the rare habitats of Europe. The area is the summer shelter of the butterfly of Rhodes called Petalouda or Quadripunctaria or Panaxia Quadripunctaria. In the area thrives a rare kind of plane tree that favors the attraction of butterflies, as a substance in its crust acts like a magnet. Visit the Natural History Museum to admire the butterfly hatchery showcase as well as samples of the flora and fauna of this unique habitat. ”
