Charming Secluded Guest Suite near Woodland Park

This secluded and very quiet, 370 sq ft in home apartment, space is nestled in the trees with a territorial view to the southwest. If you have an appreciation for hand crafted details this is the place for you: hand made windows, a bed frame made from salvaged fir bleacher seats, owner designed light fixtures, and traditionally crafted woodworking details throughout. The Chestnut stays cool in the summer and cozy in the winter with its heated concrete floors. Open all twelve windows south and west and you might think you’re in a treehouse. This space is thoughtfully designed as a restful retreat after a long day of exploring or hectic day of business travel. If you like to cook, the kitchen is complete with a gas range, a full size electric oven, microwave, under counter refrigerator/ freezer, farm style sink, and all the needed utensils. The Chestnut has its own secure entrance and private patio. It is accessible by stairs only. I am here and happy to help. Perched on the hilltop above the historic business district, the Chestnut provides easy access to Fremont neighborhood and many delicious restaurants and local shops. Look for the many public art pieces nearby or walk along the gorgeous ship canal. There are plenty of food options within walking distance and a number of buses that will easily take you downtown, east to the University district, west to Ballard, and north to greater North Seattle.

Hummingbird Cottage in Quiet Residential Arbor Heights

We are 20 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from downtown with easy access to the beaches at Alki and Lincoln Park. Your quiet backyard refuge is newly remodeled with everything you’ll need for a weekend or a month. We are just a half block from the bus stop and access to Seattle’s great transit system. Whether you’re here for Business, visiting family, or on holiday, Hummingbird cottage should fill the bill. You have off street parking and the entire space to yourself, with laundry facilities and a full kitchen at your disposal. If you need a highchair or pack-n-play crib for your little one just let us know. I’ll be here to greet you (unless you come in very late), in which case I’ll give you the code for our August Bluetooth lock to get in when you arrive. We’re only 50 feet away if you need us but will give you your space if you don’t. Arbor Heights is a tranquil neighborhood halfway between the airport and downtown, plus only a few minutes from grocery stores, restaurants. and parks with amazing views. Alki and Lincoln Park beaches are also easily accessible. Seattle is a good city to get around in by car but if you’re going downtown you might want to leave the car and catch the 21 bus to save the parking hassle and cost.

Your guide to Seattle

Introduction

Sandwiched between the waters of Puget Sound and Lake Washington and between the mountains of the Olympic and Cascade ranges, Seattle is a city of stunning views. Combining that allure with its gentle, outdoors-focused lifestyle, the city is an ideal spot for an urban getaway or as a base for a longer trip to explore western Washington. Green parks and tree-lined neighborhoods spread across the city, while Mount Rainier and the iconic Space Needle anchor the skyline. The latter offers a stunning view of the city’s many hills and waterways, including the houseboats along Lake Union and the ferries shuttling passengers across Elliott Bay. Though its surroundings provide a stunning backdrop, the city also lives up to its much-deserved reputation for great music, strong coffee, and ubiquitous flannel shirts.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Seattle

Seattle’s reputation for rain precedes it, but most visitors will find their trip unaffected by it: The rainy season runs opposite tourist season, with the bulk of precipitation coming down from November to March. Additionally, the rain that does fall rarely comes in stormy sheets, but rather in a constant drizzle — the kind that can feel endless to residents, but which rarely calls for canceling outdoor plans. A waterproof, hooded rain jacket provides better protection from this kind of rain than an umbrella. Cool weather arrives in winter, but temperatures rarely drop below freezing during the day. The dry summer season brings delightfully pleasant weather, and is an ideal time to book one of the city’s vacation rentals, with daily high temperatures averaging in the high 70s Fahrenheit and cool evenings in the mid-50s.

Top things to do in Seattle

Fremont

The self-proclaimed “Center of the Universe” epitomizes the quirky, friendly nature of Seattle neighborhoods, with its ample public art like the “Waiting for the Interurban” statues and a waterfront park created from a former gasification plant. Home to many of Seattle’s big tech companies, Fremont also offers an exciting slate of shops and restaurants catering to young, hip crowds.

Olympic Sculpture Park

The outdoor arm of the Seattle Art Museum, this free nine-acre, multilevel public park features temporary and permanent sculptures from internationally renowned artists. The installations dot a hillside cut through by a zig-zag path that leads down to the picturesque Elliott Bay, where it meets up with Myrtle Edwards Park and the Elliott Bay Trail.

Pike Place Market

Dating back to 1907, Seattle’s beloved and enormous market, perched over the waterfront, enjoys fame around the world for the fish from nearby waters. But the colorful displays of flowers, farm stands full of fruit, and dozens of local culinary producers deserve equally high billing. On the lesser-known lower floors and outer buildings, hundreds of craft artists, small businesses, and restaurants serve the community.
