Pier
“Walk the pier or visit one of the many restaurants, bars, and beach front attractions. Dory boats come in through the surf early Sunday mornings bringing their night's catch to the fresh fish market on the beach. ”

Theme Park
“Great place for an afternoon of fun! Balboa Fun Zone has gift shops, little restaurants, penny arcades, a ferris wheel and a couple of other large rides, plus other attractions (street artist who draws portraits of you for a fee; boat rides, etc.). Beautiful Pacific Ocean and a clean beach to the west, swarms of happy people, some of them experiencing for the very first time the many delights of a tacky, low-tech amusement park with a penny arcade and an excellent place for "street photography" because of opportunities to take photos of the colorful ferris wheel, of tourists sporting colorful tattoos, of kids clutching melting ice cream cones, and so on.”

General Travel
“Crystal Cove is a great place to step back into the past! See what California was like decades ago with renovated beach homes, a lovely beachside restaurant and the famous Shake Shake on the cliff. You can spend ALL day here and want to come back for more. Hiking, beach time, great food, history, nature guided walks and so much more. One of my all time favorite places!”

Seafood Restaurant

“The story of the Cannery covers nearly 90 years of American history. It began in 1921 when the first commercial fish cannery was built along the Rhine channel between 30th Street and Lido Park Drive. The location was, and still is, the hub of commercial fishing boat activity in Newport Beach. The new Cannery Seafood of the Pacific is committed to continuing its promise of delivering the best and freshest seafood, steaks and chops. Ron and his staff are not reinventing the wheel, but with one eye on the Cannery’s rich history and one on the future, they are changing the ride.”

“Arguably one of the best Italian restaurants on the peninsula, this is a long time establishment that isn't going anywhere soon. The food is stellar - order "the pink sauce" with your meal and enjoy this family style environment. They don't take reservations and during popular diner times the wait could be up to 2 hours. Luckily they serve beverages and small bites while you wait. I recommend, come early, sign in, and come back 15 minutes before your estimated seating time.”

Mexican Restaurant

“This is a "see and be seen" place with lots of beautiful people. The food is good and the atmosphere is very lively. There are a lot of drinks being poured, so the place gets louder the later it gets. There are some high rollers here every night, so don't leave your confidence at home. In the same Crystal Cove Shopping Center, there's another place that's similar but more intimidating and it's called Maestro's. The food is amazing there, but quite pricey. I've only been there once. ”

Movie Theater
“Small local theater with first run movies at $5 for Tues/Wed. $8 regular ticket. If you don't want a huge popcorn, get the kids pack for about $6 that comes with popcorn filled in a tray, a small drink, and a candy. About 15min walk in the Triangle Plaza.”

“Right on the water, view cannot be beat. The wait can be long so check in and they will give you a buzzer and an estimate of the wait. Go for a beach walk and then come back...sandy feet allowed! Remember to get your parking ticket validated.”

Natural Feature
“The Wedge, A Beautiful place to watch the Waves at the end of Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach. Waking distance to the pier. Very romantic, usually more remote area. The waves are much higher here due to rock jetty, keep that in mind if you choose to surf here.”

“With casual surfer vibes, this local seafood spot has rightfully earned its reputation as one of Newport's greatest! Pretty much everything on the menu is amazing, but their claim to fame is the Tuna Poke. If you're a first timer, trust the locals and order the Poke - you won't be disappointed. ”
