  • As our 3rd time back to RTF, I knew exactly what to expect. Though we used a camp site this time, Heidi was as gracious as always. I see many more return trips to RTF.

  • This is a really lovely, quiet and private camping space, minutes from a sandy, dog friendly Lake Michigan beach in cherry country! The hosts are wonderful, friendly and were so helpful when we ran into a small problem. We will definately plan to stay here again when in the area and highly recommend Rocky Top Preserve!

This tiny house joins the Torch Lake Tiny House and Torch Lake Bunkhouse as rentals available at the Torch Lake Tiny Russort. Just across the street from Torch Lake, this tiny house boasts a modern, industrial design. It has a dinette with frig & microwave. A queen bed is accessible via ladder in a cozy loft. Downstairs there is a full-size sofa sleeper. The space has a community area for other tiny dwellers, including a fire pit, fire table & bar. (The hot tub is no longer available).
You are steps away from Torch Lake public access. We have two kayaks for shared use and 3 beaches within a couple miles. There is a bar area outside and grill and fire pit. Ideal for 2-3 ppl.
Torch Lake is across the street. Walk across to see it and have access. It’s rocky there with small stones. Sandy beaches are close within a couple miles. Access is perfect for launching kayaks. Many adventures within a few minutes. Great restaurants, wineries, breweries and cider houses all with a short distance. Hiking, biking, beaches are close by!
  • Great place secluded especially this time Of year.

  • If you are looking for a unique place to stay I recommend Debbie's Sunset Tiny House. The Sunset Tiny House was incredible and difficult to leave because it is so charming! It was perfect for us to reconnect and feel at ease in such a great place. Debbie offered plenty of helpful tips and the entire property is set up for giving guests an incredible experience.

  • If you’re looking to stay a long weekend, this is the place to do it. It may be a “tiny house” but it felt like home for a few days. It was very clean and pretty spacious for 2 people. The outdoor bar area was so awesome and hot tub was a very cool touch.

    Austin2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Tiny House. It was a great location with easy access to the lake. A lot of nice little perks were included (such as kayaks, furnished outdoor space, and a hot tub) that made the stay very relaxing. I would definitely recommend it to others and would consider re-booking in the future. Would be a great place to stay with a small group when the other onsite properties are available.

  • Great place!

    Pat2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cute tiny house, very centrally located. Keep in mind no kitchen however plenty of great food options near by. The bed is incredibly comfortable, the metal ladder is a bit hard on the feet but the bed is worth it. The TV was a bonus with all the viewing options .

    Michelle2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house was a very cool set up in a camp like setting with two other tiny houses. Our particular house had a private inflatable jacuzzi which was pretty convincing and a nice treat after the beach. The house was well equipped with just enough to prepare light meals and prep for cooking on the grill. The communal deck with grill, gas fire pit and bar with chairs served as a cooking and dining space in the evening, and the hosts provided ample wood for a nightly campfire. Two nice touches were a frozen pizza and fixings for smores. I expected that the bed would be a ladder climb and I was right. There were handles that made it fairly easy for balance. There was also an option to fold out the couch for a slightly larger than twin bed. The location was across from Torch lake for Kayak access, but not a good spot for swimming due to large stones. The host provided several beach options and the closest was only a 4 minute drive.

    Kimberly2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny home is a perfect place to stay for visiting Torch Lake. It’s close to wineries, breweries and boat rentals. We truly enjoyed staying here.

This 1904 home has been loved by our family for more than 40 years. It's decorated with a fun mixture of farmhouse, vintage, and whimsical artistry to welcome guests. The upstairs is open and spacious with a tricky old staircase! The downstairs has a full kitchen, living area has a cozy electric fireplace, and the bathroom is sparkling brand new. With the exception of marble tile in the bathroom and vintage flooring in the kitchen, there are original wood floors throughout the home.
This turn of the century home will take you back in time...when there was no internet! In place of WiFi, we offer a Victrola record player and collection of vinyls for you to experience and a tv with local channels...or you can enjoy your own tunes on the Bluetooth option on the "modern" Victrola. Our "off the grid" location invites you to kick back on the front porch, back porch or large yard and just enjoy each other's company. Our village population is less than 1,000, so our streets are quiet for strolling, biking, or running. Within walking distance, is Intermediate Lake with docks for fishing, a park for play, small town shopping and dining. Lake Michigan, Torch Lake, Glacial Hills Nature Trails, Breweries, Distilleries, Wineries, ski resorts and snowmobile trails are all within 10 miles. Check out the bulletin board in the kitchen for local events scheduled during your stay that might interest you, and a list of where to find amenities you may need during your stay. And yes....the little shoe on display in the living room with the soul worn through, was found within the upstairs walls when the lathe and plaster was removed for remodel. Makes you wonder how many little pairs of feet wore that shoe and reminds us of how fortunate we are today!
Central Lake is a quiet little town with a population of approximately 950. We have no traffic lights and we're surrounded by a chain of lakes, forest, orchards, and farms. Several children live in the neighborhood and the elementary school is right across the street. We're minutes from boat launches on Intermediate and Torch Lake...both of which have sandbars to anchor and play. Also minutes from Lake Michigan beaches and several wooded trails to explore.
  • We really enjoyed the space, and we especially enjoyed the record player and old-timey decorations!

  • Great place! Over 100 year old home with some tasteful updates that have been done intentionally preserving the character of the home. Robin is a terrific and accommodating host offering lots of great little touches to make a nice place a truly great place to stay!

  • Cute, clean. comfortable

    Katrina2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical house! We wanted a place to stay for one night, so we could enjoy Short’s Brewing and some fatbiking at Glacial Hills. Robin’s home was so comfortable and delightfully decorated. We felt so welcomed. There were so many thoughtful touches. We enjoyed in the evening in the tv room and slept so well. Robin communicated quickly and check-in/out was a breeze. Highly recommend. We look forward to a longer stay in the near future.

Our cute little home is set back far off the road, surrounded by trees and wildlife. It’s not unusual to see deer in the yard, blue heron in the pond, or our resident hummingbirds on the bee balm. Great for colorful, cool fall days by the campfire. And your stack of summer books in the hammock. 📚
Hi! We are Andrew, Maggy, and Fern. This is our home. It has changed and grown with us over the years and now we want to share it with you. Since I was a young girl, I’ve loved this house. My dad helped build it for our new neighbor back in 1995. I spent summer evenings here drinking half frozen vernors around the campfire and watching SciFi movies. This place has been fortunate to be loved by a string of great people, which began with Kevin. An artist from New York City, who fell in love with this area and decided to build this little summer home. He spent nearly twenty years summering here, and wintering, when he just couldn’t take the busyness of the city. You’ll notice sculptures and some of his paintings peppered around the home and property. Our family came next. We transformed the home from the sweet little man cave it was into a place where our family could live and entertain comfortably, and warmly! (There was just a small wood stove when we bought the place!) When our family moved on to the next phase of life, we were fortunate to find two fantastic farmers who loved the home and land while we couldn’t. They transformed the place into one that provides heathy food for so many more people. You’ll see these two farmers out growing in the field and hoophouse now, so please say hello. They are part of this story. Now we welcome you into this little summer home’s story. Enjoy it. Love it even! Please leave it better than you found it. That is part of this little home’s legacy. The home has tile floors in the downstairs, so it stays quite cool and comfortable during the summer. The floors are heated for cool fall days and cozy winter nights. Our family adores winter nights, snuggling down with hot chocolate and good books as the snow falls outside. The upstairs is the sleeping area (with ac unit) with a queen bed on one end of the loft and a sofa bed on the other. There is also a balcony upstairs, great for stargazing or a morning coffee. Our Little House is a great place to visit during any season. The summer we have lakes and beaches, ice cream you can walk to, and a garden for reading and campfires. Fall brings intense colors, cool evenings, more campfires, and hot coffee in the garden. Winter is our family favorite season - cross-country skiing on our little trails or some of the local trails (Glacial Hills, Shanty Creek, North Street Trail), downhill skiing (Shanty Creek/Schuss Mountain, Boyne Mountain, Mt. McSauba), ice skating (local lakes, Mt. McSauba), snowmobiling, ice fishing, and early nights reading the stacks of books we’ve been meaning to get to, recovering from a busy summer. Spring is about the flowers! Tulips, daffodils, lilacs, and getting excited cause we all know summer is just around the corner!
We’ve got the coolest farm around- veggies, cut flowers, chicks, and two handsome, tubby goats. We might be biased, but you can walk to the ice cream shop and library from where we are. It’s less than a mile to town, where you’ll find Mammoth Distillery for the adults and Fudgees ice cream for the kids! Central Lake also has a great grocery store with just about everything you might need!
  • This place is wonderful. It was just what we were looking for. Nice and secluded away from the busy city life we are use to. The cabin was very clean and wonderful inside and out!

    Joseph2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin was spotless and cozy. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maggie's cabin. The duck and chicken greated us every morning at the door! 😋. The bed was very comfortable and the personal touches were thoughtful. We toured 1914 cellars and got a few more tips about local spots for lunch and dinner options. We loved our time there!

    Kevin2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The space was charming, the hosts were extremely hospitable and the area was beautiful. Highly recommend!

    Emma2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little escape!

    Chelsea2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute place! My husband and I really enjoyed going into town to the Mammoth distillery for a drink and coming back to sit by the fire. Good location, not too far from all the lakes!

    Alissa2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Felt like kids again spending our last summer hurrah. The place looks small but is open and spacious once you walk in! Super clean, cute home with all the kitchen amenities for a dinner night in. Loved waking up a few times the roosters and having a coffee in the mornings watching the hummingbirds fly by! We stopped by a handful of the local joints they suggested, like “Bee Well” (our favorite!). We ended the trip with a nice fire which warmed us up for the night as we ate s’mores. They work hard to keep the stay comfortable and easy.. we are definitely coming back!

    Loretta2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely fell in love with this place! The hosts were amazing and quick to respond. Had lots of recommendations for places to go which was very helpful. The area in general is beautiful and lots of things to do around the area!

    Chloe2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house and garden is even more beautiful than the pictures show! We had a lovely time, and Maggy was great to communicate with. We cooked, and the kitchen was stocked with all the necessary tools. We wish we could've spent more than two nights!

Stunning sunsets, sandy beach, surrounded by trees! Enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Michigan. The cottage is located on Grand Traverse Bay just 20 minutes south of Charlevoix. It provides a dramatic view from a bluff about 20' above the water. The cottage provides all of the "must haves": - Wifi and cable - Main floor washer/dryer - Modern stainless steel kitchen with filtered water/ice & dishwasher - Air conditioning (1 ton) - Real log fireplace
The cottage has 1,300'+ square feet of living space. The kitchen has quality stainless steel appliances including refrigerator with filtered water dispenser, stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave and disposal. The unique concrete and butcher block countertops and a deep stainless steel sink give the kitchen a modern look with the feeling of “camp”. The kitchen gives you a lake view even when you are cooking. The cottage has three private bedrooms plus a large sleeper sofa. There are two bathrooms, one with tub and one with shower. The master bedroom upstairs has a large balcony that overlooks the lake. The second upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and a convertible lounger. It also has TV and games to serve as the “game” room. A modern bathroom with a bathtub is located between the upstairs bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and the other bedrooms have queen beds. The sleeper sofa is a “short” queen. The main floor bedroom is smaller and private for sleeping. The main floor bath has a shower and washer/dryer. High speed internet is provided along with ultra HD Netflix and streaming movies. Cable TV is available (during the summer and fall). Tivo systems are provided with the HD and ultra HD TVs and there are blu-ray players as well. There’s board games and video games for rainy days or just fun game time. To keep you cool there are three ceiling fans and a 1-ton air conditioner in the living/dining room (no central air conditioning). There are two kayaks, a stand up paddleboard and bikes that can be used to enjoy the bay.
Enjoy a fire during the cool nights in the fireplace or in the fire pit on the overlooking bluff. Just down the “switchback” pathway is your own private beach with plenty of sand to enjoy. The beach has sand and smooth rocks. The bay is shallow which makes it great for young children. There is a small grocery store with a great deli (and delicious summer BBQ) only 5 minutes away.
  • Wonderful cottage! Kitchen had every utensil/cookware/bakeware you would need. Plenty of towels/pillows/blankets. Everything was clean and fresh. Appliance modern and everything was in good working order. Loved that each bedroom had it’s own thermostat. Plenty of room for everyone! Loved everything especially the spectacular view of Lake Michigan. Our host Shelly was perfect!

  • We appreciated the well stocked kitchen and wood for the fireplace. Cosy and charming. Beautiful after the snowfall. Quiet neighborhood this time of year (late November) and reasonably close to many hiking and restaurant options.

  • Wonderful location. The view of Lake Michigan is superb. The fall colors were amazing. Saw an eagle, an owl, lots of deer and a cute rabbit! Thoughtful details included amazing recommendations and a great list of things to see and do locally. Highly recommended.

The Torch Lake unit is the back unit to an 1880 schoolhouse with your own private deck entrance. We are located 1/2 mile off Lake Mich & 1/4 mile off Torch Lake. We have TV with internet but no local stations. Whether you like to fish, kayak, hike, bike or just love to explore, we are located within 20 mins from the towns of Elk Rapids, Bellaire, Charlevoix or Boyne City for the breweries, wineries & shopping. Traverse City is 40 mins, 45 mins to Petoskey. No A/C at this time.
If you love nature or are a romantic, you can see the sunrise over Torch Lake and the sunset later over Lake Michigan all within a half mile from our home. Also experience the rising and setting of the moon. Torch Lake has been deemed the third most beautiful lake in the world by National Geographic. No matter what direction you come up US 31, you will have a spectacular view of Northern Michigan. We do not have air conditioning, but the majority of the time there is a great breeze throughout the guesthouse.
Less than a 1/4 mile down the road enjoy Scoops Ice Cream on your way to the Day Park at Torch Lake. Or walk a 1/2 mile to Lake Michigan. And only three miles north is a post office, Torch Lake Cafe, for food and entertainment and the Eastport Market, that has everything from gas, deli, hardware, groceries, liquor and one of the best beer caves. As of May 25, Torch Lake Cafe has changed their menu to a more upscale and pricier one. It might be wise to check out their website before visiting it. It might be more suitable for special occasions. Since this was done after we departed, I can not give a recommendation. The entertainment should still be a great place to visit if that hasn't changed. If you are up for a drive, I highly recommend Short's Brewery in Bellaire. Love their menu. Also, Bridge Street Taproom in Charlevoix. These have been a few of our favorites. It is also a fun time in Boyne City at the Lake Street Tap Room. We had a blast during their karaoke night.
  • Cute cottage feel!! Loved the host and the place!

    Katie2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were looking for something small and central to the areas we enjoy. We love visiting the Travers City and Petoskey areas and this was the perfect location for that! The rental was clean, cozy and perfect for 2. We didn’t spend a lot of time at the rental but it was a great place to sleep and relax in the evenings. The small kitchen was well equipped with utensils, cookware, coffee pot and tea kettle. The bathroom was spotless and the bedroom was very clean with plenty of space to store or belongings. I really liked that there was an option for a firm or soft pillow on the bed! Lezlie sent us easy to follow check in instructions as well as recommendations for things to do in the area. This was my first experience using an Airbnb so I wasn’t sure what to expect but I have nothing but good things to say about our experience staying here and would definitely stay again.

    Marcella2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin at Torch Lake was excellent! It was a lovely, cozy space, and Lezlie was a fantastic host. We can't wait to visit again soon!

  • The perfect little weekend get away! Quaint, clean, adorable and fairly quiet. We would definitely stay again.

    Melinda2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and many extras often forgotten in other places are included at Lezlie's place.

The Chain of Lakes watershed is a really beautiful area, and this campsite is located perfectly to take advantage. US 31 North is home to two rental units. This unit is named Lake Michigan because it is on the Lake Michigan side of the 1880 schoolhouse that is been renovated into a one bedroom, one bath with a full kitchen and living/dining area. It is situated on US 31, hence, the name. We are centered between the two lakes, a perfect place to catch a sunrise over Torch Lake and the sunset over Lake Michigan. We are not located directly on either lake, but within walking distance.
We are set up for two adults only. Or there can be two adults and up to two children with the sofa bed in the livingroom. The shower is new, but it is small. We were limited on what would fit in the space when renovating. For this, I apologize in advance. But the unit is nicely renovated and decorated. We have a large parking area, so if you are bringing a trailer, boat or kayaks, we have the space you need. There is a beautiful day park just 1/4 mile up the road to launch your boat. There is a $10 launch charge, but it is well worth it. There are other launch areas if you do not want to pay, or you would like to launch your boat in Lake Michigan. We do not have air conditioning at this time, but two doors to open, two ceiling fans and and several windows creates a nice breeze throughout. If you are looking for a place to invite friends, hold parties, etc, this is not a place for you. It is a place to come and enjoy the location between the lakes, have access to many quaint towns with shopping, breweries, distilleries, wineries, biking, kayaking, etc. Most are guests are on the go the majority of the time exploring all that Northern Michigan has to offer.
Even though we are not located on the lake, Torch Lake and Lake Michigan are close by for a great day at the beach. We are approximately 12 miles from Elk Rapids, 17 miles from Charlevoix, 17 miles from Bellaire (Shorts Brewery) 30 miles to Boyne City and Traverse City, 36 miles to Petoskey, 54 miles to Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and 72 miles from Mackinaw City. • Exactly as pictured, super clean and beautifully decorated! We loved staying in an old schoolhouse, it was such a unique experience. Would highly recommend! Thanks for a great stay!

  • Charming place, great location, and very clean! Great access to Lake Michigan and Torch Lake right up the road.

  • Lezlie’s home was exactly what we needed for our mini vacation up north! We were close enough to spend days in traverse city, Charlevoix, and of course, beautiful torch lake! Thank you for the great stay!

    Jennifer2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this adorable house!! So clean and spacious. If you are looking for a location not too far from everything this beautiful area offers, look no further!

  • As this was our first trip to experience Torch Lake we were told you have to hang out The at Sand Bar on the south end of the Lake by friends, and we did for 2 days, BUT we discovered the location of your cottage was PERFECT, because we found the Boat launch So easy and the North end of the Lake to be less congested and beautiful!!!! Your cottage is in between both ends of the different towns to experience different shopping , local sites and restaurants. At the end of each day relaxation was in order and your Place did the trick. The bed was comfy. The couch and chair were comfy. The state of art TV and WiFi were bonuses. The water pressure was perfect, never ran out. From appliances to dishes, pots and pans, quality towels, linen and decor she thought of everything. Super clean!!!We had a few little questions and text messaging replies were very quick. We had room to bring our pontoon boat too. As stated no air conditioning, we had a nice breeze at night. There are ceiling fans, but we brought an extra fan and that also helped to keep the cottage comfy. Air really isn’t needed if you are truly wanting to explore the area. Make it a great vacation and stay here. I don’t feel you would be disappointed!!!

  • Rocky Top Farms is a magical place. My girlfriend and I were looking to get away for Labor Day weekend to somewhere beautiful Up North and luckily I found Rocky Top on Airbnb. Right when we got there we felt that it is a special place. The air is pure, the yurt was lovely, and everyone we saw had a smile on their face. We spent time in Charlevoix (which is super close) and on the farm. Biking at sunset was so magical because it had just begun to feel like fall and the air was crisp and comforting. We'll never forget this trip and hope we make it back soon!

  • We had a great time at Rocky Top Sunset Yurt. It was peaceful and quiet and just what we needed. This was our first time glamping and we had a great. The place is close to the beach and a short trip to surrounding towns and events. We will be back John

    John2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Rocky Top was a very fun experience. The cherries were delicious and the yurt was a nice way to feel like we were “camping” but still sleeping on a mattress like at home. It thunder-stormed pretty hard the first night we arrived but the yurt kept us dry all night. Traverse City was close by which was a huge perk for rainy days.

    Jessica2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot!!!

    Joseph2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Preserve was simply wonderful. The grounds are so peaceful and we enjoyed feeling disconnected from our busy lives for awhile. We stayed at the Sunset yurt and really enjoyed how secluded it is, especially in comparison to a typical busy campground. Even on the nights when there were quite a few other campers, we still felt like our little area was private and quiet. It is obvious that a lot of time and care is invested in the grounds, which means an even better experience for glampers. The wild flowers, birch trees, and visiting geese were idyllic. Evenings were charming as we were serenaded by bullfrogs and crickets. The day we spent fully onsite it rained but the yurt stayed dry and it made for a great afternoon of reading. The only thing I would advise to fellow glampers is watch out for the Preserve's road signs, especially if arriving in the evening. They are set a little ways off the road and are a but difficult to see. The showers at the campground down the road were easy to find and use, costing 50 cents per shower. There is also a small store conveniently nearby with ice, gas, and a great selection of groceries. The site is also an easy distance from beaches and many cute Michigan towns. We highly recommend!

    Ryan2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at the sunset yurt at Rocky Top Preserve and I think it is one of the best sites on the farm (The Big Dipper was right in between the trees over the fire pit on the site!!!) and I checked out all of them once I arrived, I like to explore. All of the sites listed by Rocky Top are very much accurate, from the pictures they take of the sites, to the way they describe them it's exactly what you will experience. I ran into Heidi the first morning I was there and she made me feel very welcome, anything I needed she was there. After that I hiked out into the orchards wild turkeys were everywhere. I took my 12 year old dog with me and she had no trouble running around the grounds like she was a puppy. I thought my dog might have had to go to the vet and Heidi was there immediately to tell me where to take her and actually researched the concerns I had herself after I spoke with her about it. There are awesome beaches within driving distance and the hikes I went on were even better. I found some awesome stones in Lake Michigan which is only about 5-10 minutes from the farm, bring water shoes if you have soft feet!! There are stores within 10-20 minutes depending on what you may need, I was never upset with the distance I had to travel to get what I needed. First day I wanted to buy hiking boots, my shoes got soaked on a morning walk and I needed something else. I asked Heidi where I might find something like that and the store she sent me to had exactly what I was looking for and much more! My parents were able to come out and put up a tent on the site I had which is a really cool thing they let you do and they wanted to come back after just one night!! I see a lot of comments about the bullfrogs too...they do go off for about 30-40 minutes sometime between 230am and 400am but if you pick a site that is listed as having a pond you should expect that type of thing (come on people that were bothered by that), I actually find the sounds of nature soothing and would've liked to see what those frogs were doing!! Long story short I thought this place was awesome and brought more people to stay and they also thought the same our ages range from 29-39-63-65. I think its safe to say this place has something fun for all ages!!!

    Paul2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Rocky Top “Preserve” is a perfect spot to go “glamping” if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The farm provides the privacy yet is close enough to a market and restaurant if you don’t want to cook at the site. The wildflower and apple fields gave us a spectacular view when we practiced yoga. Very peaceful and serene place! The hosts were very responsive and gave us privacy. The yurts each had their own special touches to make it feel like home. Very nicely done and we would definitely come back to this farm.

Funky, boho decor in a 1969 camper located at Rocky Top "Preserve". Enjoy miles of hiking, biking, relaxing, beaches, popular wineries and breweries (can you say Short's and Bee Well!?). Quiet, unplugged relaxation. This camper is off the grid (no electric). Hand pump well for water. Clean Portapotties.
Guests have access to hundred of acres of our family farm. Dunes, woods, orchard, wildflower meadow. Bring your bikes and hiking boots. There’s a disc golf course here too.
  • This was the perfect spot for a quiet weekend getaway!

  • This trailer is great! Everything was clean. Property is amazing. Highly recommend if you are looking for something somewhat off the grid/camping, but still have a comfy spot to sleep.

    Jason2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you need and nothing you don't! We had a great stay at Rocky Top and absolutely loved the grounds. The disc golf course is TOUGH and gorgeous, and there is access to a clean port-a-potty and a decent well tap! Everything was smooth getting in and getting out, and the site itself is really beautifully maintained. There's no electric or plumbing (which was fine) but the place has sweet string lights, soft linen, and beautiful fire pits (and I even got two bars of cell reception!) The stars are unreal and the proximity to Traverse City and Charlevoix is awesome. We will definitely be back!

  • Looking for a quiet place with potential like minded campers nearby? This is it. Hospitality was superb, conversation and helpful area tips were easy to get from owners or folks at the gas station/roadside pie place. Very good location to see all of the Traverse City, Charlevoix, East Jordan area. Even made an easy day trip to Mackinac Island. Peaceful property with miles of orchardside walking. Just really enjoyable!

You'll be staying on a centennial farm that is still in operation today. You'll have access to over 1000 acres where you can feel free to walk, ride your bike, snowshoe, or cross country ski. YES, we do allow pets! :-) *First pet is free, there is an additional $20/pet after that No ATV/Snowmobiles please...
Original with the farm, the 100 year old house has been redone specifically for the farm experience. You can interact with the five full time farmers on the premises if you choose, or sit on the deck and watch the cherries blossom with Lake Michigan in the background. You'll be less than 10 minutes away from boat launches at Torch Lake, Lake Michigan and Intermediate Lake, so make sure to bring the boat, there is plenty of parking available. If you're a land dweller, OUR OWN WINERY CELLAR 1914 is located on the premises, Shorts Brewery is a 15 minute trip, Mammoth Distillery (which uses our cherries in their cherry bounce) is a 10 minute drive located in the heart of Central Lake. Ethanology which we supply corn for their whiskey and cherries is located 20 minutes away in downtown Elk Rapids. You'll have access to the apartment portion of the house in which we have redone. You will have a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen area (without oven, but with stove top and microwave) large living space, large deck with a grill and a newly added fire pit in the yard. There are stairs to climb to access the house and there are sounds and sights that happen on this farm that are beyond our control. ***** You receive one free wine tasting during your stay as well!
Some of us do not even lock our doors at night... Peaceful, calming and a great place to recharge the batteries.
  • This is our third stay at Shooks Farm, and we really love it. It is really clean, quiet and has everything you need. The living room is spacious and airy, and has comfortable seating - I love that rocking chair. There are large windows looking out over the orchards and the sunsets. Plenty of pillows and extra blankets. Everything works perfectly, and the hosts respond very quickly if you have any questions. An added plus is the 1914 Cellar which is the Shooks Farm Winery almost next door. This place has everything going for it, and we will be back

  • Shooks farm was the perfect cozy getaway. The living area was large and spacious. They were also great with giving ideas for things to do in the area. We brought our two young kids who loved the farm/animal atmosphere. We’ll stay again.

  • Great family, great place , amazing view

    Joshua2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Shooks Farm on our family getaway, including our dog. The place has a fantastic view looking out over their property, and Grand Traverse Bay and Old Mission in the distance from the balcony. Be sure to stop in the Wine Tasting Room while your there, and try some of their excellent wines and ciders. The wines are all estate grown, and our favorite was the Baco Noir. We definitely are planning a trip back up there for next year.

    John2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • One of my favorite Airbnb spots. We loved sitting by the fire at night, watching the stars. An amazing sunset view over Grand Traverse Bay. The winery on the farm was a plus! The hosts are very gracious, letting us pick fresh apples, peaches, and pears as we pleased. I will definitely be back.

    Janelle2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Shooks Farms was such a treat! We loved how beautiful the orchards were, the ease of being able to bring our dog, and the friendliness of the brothers at Cellar 1914. We were surprised at how beautiful the views onto the lake and rolling hills of north Michigan were and would recommend to anyone who asked! Easy day trips to Traverse City, Charlevoix, Shorts Brewery, etc.

    David2019-09-14T00:00:00Z

  • Rent this one. Trust me, if there are 4 or less of you, get this home. They literally thought of everything and had everything from coffee and water all the way to games to play and shampoo and conditioner. If I could give this home more stars, I would. We travel with Air BnB often and this has been the best one yet. Rent a boat when you are here and go to the sandbar, you won’t regret a penny. I can’t possibly say enough nice things for this home to get you to understand how much we loved this trip and home!!

    Madi2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time. The site is very peaceful and quiet. There’s plenty to do in the area with some interesting towns that are close by. The lake is gorgeous and hated to leave.

    Garrett2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful piece of heaven up in Torch Lake! The tiny house is spacious, so cute, and super clean as well. Knowing that the owners built it themselves was another added bonus as well. We brought our boat and there was more than enough space to park our boat as well. The common area was adorable and so useful as well. We will definitely be back because there is so much to do in this area. I highly recommend this!

    Steph2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Okay, we did it! Four adults in the torch lake tiny house. And it was AWESOME. We had so much fun! The space really didn't seem crazy tiny because of how well the house is designed. And the outdoor space is so great, you don't end up spending a ton of time in the house anyways (although we did stay in once for a movie night and that was just fine too). The outdoors has a grill, two fireplaces (one electric, one real), a great tiki bar, a pizza oven....we pretty much used it all except for the kayaks which we just didn't find time for. The area is obviously fantastic. You're practically right on the most gorgeous lake in the world. There were other guests on the property but we actually didn't run into them at all. We also needed a towel refresh one day and someone was over pretty promptly to help us out. All in all, an awesome visit that far exceeded our expectations. If you're hesitant to book, do it!

Our neighborhood is really rural and agricultural. Civilization isn't far away- Charlevoix- 15 minutes to the north Elk Rapids- 20 minutes to the south Traverse City- 30 min or so south Petoskey- about 35 min north Bellaire (home of Short's Brewing Company)- about 20 min east.
  • What a cozy little adventure! You immediately feel the owner and hosts love for their land and nature. All the little touches are above and beyond. Pops Pride is a cozy little place open to nature, from watching the deer cross the field while sitting by the campfire, to waking up to the little bluebird in the tree behind us. It's a little piece of heaven hidden off the beaten path. Loved this experience! Can't wait to visit again!!

    Connie2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a blissful stay at Pop's Pride. The property is stunning, super private and as charming as can be. The cottage was super cozy and cute. Everything you would need with lots of sweet touches. We love to disc golf so having a cabin on a top-notch disc golf course was a dream come true. We were lucky enough to have an 80 deg day in mid- September and spent time at Rex beach. An incredibly beautiful stretch of sandy beach with a lot of Petoski stones. We can not wait for our next stay at Rocky top.

  • Rocky Top Farms is such a pretty location and the set up is great. Good amount of space between campgrounds and bathrooms weren’t far away. The disc golf course was awesome too. Pop’s pride was super cute and there was everything we needed inside of it! Really the only downside was that we couldn’t get any sleep because of the mosquitoes buzzing in our ears and biting us all night, they were ruthless. If you can handle the bugs it’s definitely worth the stay.

Our cozy bunkhouse provides ample amenities and comfort in the beautiful Torch Lake area. It is across the street from the lake & public access. Fill your days with everything the area has to offer. A great glamping experience - leave your tent or camper at home. There are 2 kayaks available for use. This is a shared property with 2 other tiny houses that are rented out. A shared space is in the middle including bar, outdoor cooking area and fire pit. Ideal for 2-3 ppl.
The space has another two other tiny houses available for rental. Everything is arranged in a large circle with a fire pit area and deck with bar and additional seating in the middle. You’re in the middle of the quiet woods. While it rents for 4 ppl, it is best suited for 2-3 ppl.
We are close to everything! Beaches, launch sites, breweries, wineries, distilleries, restaurants, etc etc
  • The Bunk house was clean and comfortable. Amenities were great and allows you to meet new people. Great location with a short walk to a public entrance to the lake.

  • Really great experience! The place is cozy and perfect for relaxing. Kayaks available and rather easy to use and launch. Several good cafe’s nearby in Alden and Bellaire. Other properties on sight are close, and place can be a bit stuffy on hot days I’m sure, but super cozy and perfect to relax and enjoy the area. Highly recommended :)

  • Bring your own food! They have a gas grill, a pizza oven and a fire pit and a lava rock fire pit. It is hot and stuffy during the day, but we weren't there much during the day. The day park is about 9 mins away and it has a beautiful beach and everyone is very friendly!!

    Kathy2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Debbie’s for 4 days and couldn’t have been happier. The location is great! You can walk right across the street to public access to use the kayaks and drive about 7-10 minutes to get to a good swimming and hanging out spot. Debbie was great with suggesting places around town whether grocery shopping or beach spots. The bar area was super cute and great to hangout in the morning for breakfast and grilling out at night. The house is not insulated just as pictured, so be prepared for it to get pretty chilly at night. We visited late July and it got a little cold at night so maybe bring an extra blanket! The tiny house is more spacious than I thought it would be but it’s perfect for 2 people and that’s it. We can’t wait to visit again and rent out the whole tiny house resort! Torch lake is absolutely beautiful just like the pictures. Definitely recommend checking it out and renting out this place if you can

Our newly remodeled apartment is just minutes from Torch Lake and Lake Michigan (2 miles). Located just off of US31 between Traverse City and Petoskey, (between Elk Rapids & Charlevoix)
This apartment is attached to our home but has its own private entrance. It has a full kitchen, dining area and living room in an open floor plan. Large closet in the bedroom with a Queen size bed, it is a temperpedic memory foam mattress. The living room has a brand new queen sleeper sofa and a memory foam topper for additional guests.
We love our location and the quietness of our area! Close to many great things but far enough to be "in the country" and enjoy the beautiful night sky. Bike trails, kayaking, fall color tours, orchards, beaches, parks, or even skiing in the winter, everything you could want to do!
  • The place is good and as advertised. Everything is perfect, clean, organized, and comfortable. Michelle is a wonderful host and very responsive to any questions or communications. We had a very good stay at her place.

  • This was our first Airbnb stay and we were not disappointed. Great place with everything we needed for a comfortable and quiet stay after our days adventures in Northern Michigan.

  • Super cute and clean place to stay! In the middle of everything so it makes travel super easy! Would stay here again!

  • Very nice couple. We enjoyed staying there, and a perfect location.

  • Nice place outside Charlevoix. Easy check-in, very nice hosts.

  • Michelle’s place was the perfect, private place to rest on our quick but busy weekend trip. They really went above and beyond with little amenities that were very helpful, the check in and check out process was very easy in spite of our late arrival and early departure. The place was perfect, very comfortable, cozy and clean, with everything we needed provided. We didn’t get to meet Michelle but her husband Bruce was very friendly and helpful with tips on places to eat locally, and from the looks of their guestbook they love to socialize if you have the time and like that (we were just really busy the whole trip). I highly recommend their place! As a side note: Its a quiet, secluded area but still close to everything. Just don’t let Google Maps take you down Maple Hill Road, it’s a dirt road and not easily maneuvered unless you have a big truck with 4 wheel drive! We *may* have roughed up our rental car a little bit in the dark one night!

Relax in your own cheery cottage on a quiet private lane. There are two guest cottages on this property and they share parking just off the lane. This one sits behind our main cottage and the family home. While not directly on the beach, it is approximately a 150 ft. walk down your little path. There you have full Grand Traverse Bay/Lake Michigan beach access along with your own chairs, loungers, fire spot, and lovely waterfront area.
The friendly inviting cottage has open living and dining space. With ceramic tile floors and colorful rugs. The French doors allow lots of fresh up- north air, and the main door opens onto the floral garden patio with sitting areas. The kitchen is equipped with dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, and small appliances. We have extra pillows, blankets, sheets, bath towels, beach towels, and plenty of paper supplies for your use. We have games, books, and puzzles available for your use.
There are just a few cottages and homes on Antrim Lane, a private two-track no-outlet road. Most of them are summer cabins, with quiet neighbors who have been coming up for many years.
  • Pam and Al are the perfect hosts. After a wonderful stay just a couple of months ago, it was our first choice of destinations yet again, and just as wonderful.

    Whitney2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location with a private beach! Pam was a great host! Would definitely stay there again!

    Kristy2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • My parents enjoyed their time there while celebrating their 55th anniversary...Easy and short walk to the beautiful beach! Al and Pam are lovely hosts!

    Mary2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • First of all, Albert was there to greet us in Pamela's stead. He was warm and friendly with tons of useful information about the house, property and surrounding areas. He was close by (his home is on the property), should we need him, but allowed us to have all the privacy we wanted/needed. We, unfortunately, did not meet Pamela, as she was away for the weekend. The space is perfect! There is plenty of charm and the house is outfitted with the basics of what you'll need. We were able to cook and relax and did not find ourselves wanting for anything. Pretty perfect for 1-2 people. The location is OUTSTANDING!! You have a short walking path down to an essentially private lakefront beach. We walked down the shore, had fires each night and watched the most incredible sunsets. If you want to be able to unplug, relax, cook, read, etc- this is the spot to do that. If you want to get out a bit and go into town, you're not far from Charlevoix or Petoskey. We will definitely be back!

    J2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at this adorable cottage for his 30th birthday celebration. The cottage itself was super cute, clean, and close to the beach! It was also close to neighboring towns that we enjoyed exploring. Just the trip we needed- would definitely stay here again!

    Megan2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful lake views and a very cozy cottage! Pam is a wonderful host and I hope to be back again in the future.

    Elizabeth2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place is Heaven on Earth! We enjoyed the natural beauty of the area, walks along the shoreline, kayaks and rowboat, stargazing, campfire on the beach, and spotting two Eagles. It’s also a quick drive to activities in Charlevoix, Tracerse City, and Leelanau area! You can do as much or as little you like. I’d love to spend the entire summer here!

    Sheryl2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Pam's place is perhaps the finest of its kind that we have ever stayed at. It had everything we needed and wanted, including a quiet, accessible and secluded beach (with great views of the Milky Way and shooting stars). Pam herself was just as outstanding. In short, we can't recommend this place highly enough and will return as soon as we can.

  • Beautiful views, great conversation and your money well spent. It is in a great location as well. The only down side to this place was that there is no WiFi but even the cable tv made up for that.

    Mackenzie2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely outstanding. Crisp sheets, fluffy towels, and SUPER comfy bed. The hosts were lovely, the place was exquisite (the photos don't do it justice!) and the surrounding area was super fun. Kim was lighting-fast responsive to our questions and provided great suggestions on where to go and what to do. We loved the quiet, private, rural nature of "the Nook." And friendly touches like a personalized welcome and yummy fruit were so sweet! We hope to come back to the area, and if and when we do, we hope this place will be available.

    Amanda2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kim and Floyd gave me and my boyfriend a wonderful place to stay. We stayed over Labor Day weekend and explored TC, dunes, and Mackinaw. It’s about a hour from all the big attractions. They helped us start a fire outside which we appreciated a lot. The stars outside of their house are amazing. Every night we would go outside and star gaze. The guest house is very spacious and we were able to cook breakfast every morning. 10/10 recommend staying here. Can’t wait to plan our next trip up north this winter at Kim and Floyd’s. Thanks guys!

Cozy sleeping for 2 in the "Blue" room of this Historic Country Inn in the quaint village of Central Lake. This room is one of 7 private rooms with a private bath in each room. The pastel-hued rooms outfitted with delicate quilts have a vintage vibe. Includes kitchenette and lounge area shared with other inn guests. We are located about 20 min from Shanty Creek Resorts, and about 35 min from Boyne Mountain Resort. The rooms are located above The Blue Pelican Inn restaurant.
Located in the Building of The Blue Pelican Inn that offers an amazing dining experience. With outdoor Tiki Deck and bar seating, inside Sun room Dining and the Side Door open Thurs-Sat they have something for everyone. There is an outdoor horse shoe pit and bags for hours of entertainment.
Central lake is a small Northern Mi town that is close to many up-north attractions, be sure to visit our locations at Adams Madams and in Bellaire at the Chief Golf Course.
  • Very clean and nicely decoration. The snacks and drinks were a nice addition.

    Mary2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • It is very fun to stay at the Blue Pelican and sleep over the restaurant. It is very clean and quiet.

    Carol2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed at this location twice now (different rooms). Most recently in the blue room. Both experiences were great. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and check-in and out were very simple. This is a cute small town with a few local shops, but there is plenty to do nearby. We reccomend staying for dinner. The menu has a bit of everything and was tasty.

  • Enjoyed our stay, beautiful place!

    Brad2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • A sparkling room and big, comfy bed (we had the "Blue Room"). Easy in, easy out and a friendly atmosphere. Quiet, cozy and in a great location (only about 30 minutes from Traverse City).

    Tom2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed staying in the Blue Room and found that the staff at the Blue Pelican was very friendly. We thought that the room was bright and sunny, and I loved that there was no TV in the room.

  • Great place with great hospitality, would definitely stay there again. Restaurant & bar in the building!!

    Mike2018-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The blue room is a lovely, spacious room. The bed is comfortable and the room was immaculate. Wi-fi was a plus too. A free continental breakfast is a nice perk too. We only needed a place to sleep and this was perfect. We didn't get to try the restaurant but, we've been told it is very good. We would stay here again.

Pet friendly! This second- story, custom built cabin in the middle of a cherry orchard has huge windows that allow for great natural light. Polished concrete countertops and floors with radiant heat. Sleeps 6 people max. One bath. Shared hot tub. Large decks. Basic kitchen. Please read this listing completely.
Up north at its best! The Treehouse sits on a pond among the birch and pines in a working cherry orchard. Built by my husband and me, with a whole lot of help from many friends, it clearly has love in the details. Large windows bring the daylight in and allow for dreamy star- gazing - maybe even the northern lights! Six person outdoor hot tub is shared with the cabin also on property. Locally made art. Access to trails for hiking, groomed cross- country ski trails, and mountain biking all around the orchard and ponds. Minutes to Lake Michigan and Torch Lake beaches. The cabin makes a great getaway for couples and families. There is a sleeping loft which can sleep four and a private bedroom which sleeps two. It’s not a big place, so don’t expect tons of room to roam inside. Limited kitchen has a smart oven, countertop two burner range, microwave, sink, coffee maker, electric frying pan and refrigerator. We provide pots and pans, knives, and table settings. The Treehouse can be rented in conjunction with The Cabin at Rocky Top Farms. Towels and linens are provided. You must have four- wheel drive to access the Treehouse in the winter, or plan to hike the 1/4 mile from the barn. If you have to be towed out, the cost is between $50- $100. Please note! This is a cabin and not a traditional treehouse! We don't mean to mislead with the name- The Treehouse is what we have always called it. *Please read this listing entirely! This cabin isn’t a hotel. It’s got heritage, patina and whimsy. It doesn’t have brand-new anything. (The kitchen table is almost 75 years old, and was in my Grandmother’s cottage.) It’s a creative and fun place, that is an eclectic mix of character and style. We love it, and we hope you do too.
We adore our very rural neighborhood! Just a couple miles from both Torch Lake and Lake Michigan-beaches abound! Ask us about our favorite spots. Hiking and paddling opportunities are plentiful. We are not far from XC, downhill skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Rocky Top Farms is centrally located between Traverse City and Petoskey. We are located just off 31N. Our nearest towns are Elk Rapids, Bellaire, and Charlevoix, and East Jordan. The closest villages are Torch Lake, Ellsworth, and Central Lake. There are so many things to check out while visiting- or- just laze around the farm!
  • A wonderful relaxing stay. The cabin is cute and comfortable. The property is great. We went hiking on some of the trails, and canoeing on the pond. It's a 15 minute drive to Charlevoix and close to beaches.

  • We absolutely loved staying in the treehouse cabin! Very private and relaxing and a great location! We loved the goats they were so sweet! Hoping to plan a return trip next summer!

  • Wonderful getaway to enjoy nature at its finest in the beautiful woods of Northern Michigan. The treehouse is so fun and gorgeous!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Rocky Top. The treehouse was very clean, bright and colorful- with so many beautiful windows. The location is perfect- in between Charlevoix and Elk Rapids- and not far from Traverse City. Hollie was very responsive while we planned our getaway and she left us tips to find the best dog beaches and restaurants. Definitely recommend!

    Julie2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place beautiful setting a must visit

    Cheryl2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Rocky Top's Treehouse and loved it! It is a genuine cabin full of charm and positive vibes! It was very clean and had everything we needed. It was perfect for our family of 4. The land it sits on is beautiful and made for great walks. There is a pond and lots of wildlife to enjoy. Heidi provided a great list of local things to do and great beaches. It is close to Charlevoix and Petoskey and Torch Lake. We'd love to stay there again if we ever get up to that area again!

LAKE MICHIGAN: Charming log cabin with spectacular views and sunsets directly on the beach with great privacy. 12 miles South of Charlevoix. 2 Bedrooms and full second floor loft with two separate sleeping areas. 1 bathroom, washer/dryer, linens/towels furnished, Fully equipped. Awesome porch fronts the lake. Peaceful place surrounded by nature, ideal for a getaway, a romantic time or simply the best family time. Picnic table and fire pit on beach. Full year lease available.
  • Great location with lots of privacy, sandy beach and beautiful sunsets. Close to Charlevoix for the rainy days that don’t allow lots of beach activities, but plenty of room inside to play games, read, or even watch a movie! Love the screened in porch with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. Would love to spend another week there and enjoy the summer on Lake Michigan I had growing up!

    Shannon2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was the first vacation we have taken in over ten years. Carly Jean's place was a great location for our family vacation . At the last weekend of our stay we had a total of nine people seven adults and two children and we were all very comfortable. The beach house was clean and kept up. The porch over looks Lake Michigan. The beach is absolutely beautiful and we had fires on the beach every night. For swimming we had to wear water shoes because the shore had a rock bottom. My grand kids didn't mind they were in the water all day. This is a great beach to look for Petoskey stone and other fossils. This is just a great location to just relax and unwind.

This is the perfect Northern Michigan hideaway no matter the season! The Maple View House sits high on a knoll surrounded by lush forest and expansive views of the countryside and beautiful Torch Lake. Escape the hustle and bustle in this secluded spot while still being close to all the fun in the area. Whether you're looking for a quiet weekend reading, or a comfortable place to crash while you spend your days on the go, the Maple View House is going to please. Perfect for dog owners!
The space is comfortable, warm and welcoming, yet simple. You'll get that 'at home' feel that a hotel or condo just can't offer. The natural setting of The Maple View House makes it exceptionally peaceful and unique. Large growth trees surround the house keeping it cool, yet the sloping hills mean you have wonderful views and a breeze. Spend a warm summer night eating dinner and lounging on the deck and then move to the yard for a bon fire as the sun goes down. The quiet maple forest surrounding the home and the long driveway is a perfect spot for you and your dog to walk. No close neighbors. We provide dog dishes and a doggie bed for Fido. There is an abundance of activities to draw people to Northern Michigan: - The Lakes! Torch Lake, Lake Michigan, Intermediate Lake - all within minutes. Dozens of public access for swimming, beaching or launching a boat. - Biking: Glacial Hills for mountain biking is nearby and if road biking is your thing, the house is off of East Torch Lake Drive a favorite for road bikers. - Wine tasting: There are several wineries within 30 minutes and even more on Old Mission and Leelanau Peninsulas - Picking Cherries! Northern Michigan is the Cherry Capital - lots of agri-tourism and fresh produce to be found - Golf: World class courses in every direction Winter Specifically: The Maple View House is a cozy and quite winter getaway. Get the wood stove going and curl up with a good book. The woods and views are amazing in the winter, you can see nearly 180* of lakes in the distance when there aren't leaves on the trees. Please note that you will need four wheel drive if there is snow on the ground. We will keep the driveway plows but there are steep spots that will require 4wd. - Downhill and Nordic Skiing at many resorts - Shanty Creek (30 minutes), Boyne Mountain (40 minutes), Nub's Nob (1 hr+), Boyne Highlands (1 hr+), Crystal Mountain (1 hr 20 min). - Tubing at Shanty Creek Resorts - Avalanche Bay Water Park at Boyne Mountain - The remote roads and woods around the house are great spots for snowshoeing
Torch Lake's clear turquoise waters are world renowned and the beauty of Northern Michigan is equally as stunning. The Maple View House is just a half mile off of Torch Lake and a 3 minute drive to the famous Brownwood Acres (make sure to get there early on Sunday morning before the line for the hot donuts gets too long). There are small towns and attractions in every direction: - Central Lake: 5 minutes - a cute, but small town. - Bellaire: 15 minutes - home of Short's Brewery! - Charlevoix: 25 minutes - restaurants, ice cream - Traverse City: 45 Minutes - lots of restaurants, breweries, activities galore. - Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes: 1.5 Hours
  • We spent New Year's Eve at Juliette's place and it was a magical getaway. The wood stove made for cozy relaxation. We did a puzzle, read, and made lots of food. Since it is a bit of a drive in wintery conditions, we brought a few of our meals and were so happy to be tucked away with incredible views. We did adventure out one day and hit up Shorts and Shanty Creek for tubing. It was a great location for all of that! The house itself has been updated and has charming touches. Juliette was quick to respond to questions and was very kind! We've already talked about coming back in the summer to take advantage of the closeness to torch lake!

    Mackenzie2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perched on a hill, overlooking soft rolling hills, and a view of Torch Lake, it felt more like an English countryside cottage, than a cabin near a lake. Stylish and thoughtfully prepared, the home is warm and inviting. Our puppy just loved wandering in the woods, while we watched wild turkeys waddle on by. Snow covered picture-postcard memories, sledding and relaxing evenings. We hope to gladly return some day.

    Kevin2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • A peaceful retreat in the woods. We slept, cozied up by the fire, hiked, and enjoyed seeing deer and bald eagles. Juliette was a very accommodating host, especially as a winter storm approached! Can't wait to go back!

  • It was the perfect location for our weekend to view fall colors and to visit the nearby town of Charlevoix. The property is beautiful —up on a hill and surrounded by trees. There is also the ability to have a bonfire on cool nights! The home was perfect for our family and dog. We loved our quiet walks among the beautiful fall foliage. Loved the deck off the living room with a beautiful view while enjoying a cup of morning coffee! This is the perfect place to retreat to nature in Northern Michigan and enjoy nearby towns. Juliette was a wonderful and attentive host. Loved our stay and hope to be back someday!

    Cheryl2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stylish place and in the woods! Two of my favorite things! Juliette was responsive and helpful. Great place!

  • This was exactly what we were looking for. Very peaceful with no obvious signs of neighbors. The pup enjoyed walking in the woods and we made a nice bonfire in the yard. The house was clean and equipped with everything we needed. A perfect weekend away from it all.

  • I was expecting a private home. Surprised that was an inn. However the sleeping room was fine. The bathroom was huge. Having the adjacent common area was great. Everything was spotless. I will recommend it to others and will stay there again if in the area.

    Charlie2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • My stay in the Sunshine Room at the Blue Pelican was very pleasant - clean, comfortable and very quiet. The bathroom was huge and light! There was no eating allowed in the rooms, but a common room at the end of the hall offered a place to sit and have complementary snacks and coffee. Board games and TV were also there as well as the opportunity to visit with fellow guests. A safe, clean, comfortable room with basic amenities = a good night’s sleep 😴

  • Bedrooms/beds were very small but worked out okay. Bed linens, towels, wash cloths were very nice. We had 6 adults and it worked out great!

    Amy2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute and clean cottage, perfect for six adults. My only regret is that we didn’t plan for a longer trip. Very helpful booklet with house rules, and local good stuff like where to eat, shop and attractions. Definitely recommend!

    Stacy2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Pat & Michael did everything they could to make sure our stay was a pleasant one. They even left us some Amish made baked goods which were delicious. Would definitely recommend a stay in their little cabin!

    Brittney2018-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Pat's home is located in a very peaceful spot and a rare find with 3 bedrooms. It was spotless and had everything you could need for a stay near the water. The special bread she left for us and a very handy list of local businesses were very appreciated. She made our visit easy and each of us enjoyed ourselves immensely!

    Anne2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Pat was a wonderful host and the cottage was beautiful and clean. It was very close to many locations and fit all six of us comfortably.

    Emma2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • A very quiet neighborhood, close to the lake. The home was very clean and Pat and Mike were great hosts. Highly recommend this place.

    Sushant2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Pat was an amazing host! Very easy to communicate with up to our arrival. The cottage was just what we needed and comfortably slept 6 adults. We have already talked about coming back.

    Cody2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Pat was the perfect host, answering every question we had prior to our stay. She met us at the house and showed us around the home and property. The home was quite simple but met most of our expectations. The only thing I would recommend is at least one queen bed in one of the bedrooms. My wife and I had trouble sleeping together in a double bed. The chain of lakes is gorgeous! Fishing was by far the best on Benway Lake as we managed to catch dinner one day! We will definitely be coming back next summer!

  • Everything about my trip was wonderful. The property was an adventure through and through. I loved exploring and finding all the hidden joys that the hosts have sprinkled throughout the property. They have paid meticulous attention to detail in making sure that everything you could possibly need is ready and waiting for you. This was my first time camping, and I did it alone, never once feeling lost or unable to do what I needed, because the hosts made it so perfectly accommodating. I cannot wait to come back with my family, and absolutely on my own again!

    Holly2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This orchard is so beautiful and secluded! Only a few minutes from the most beautiful beaches in Michigan. The campsite was very cozy and had everything we needed. The porta potty was by far the cleanest I've ever seen. The Crystal clear sparkling sky and the howls of coyotes in the distance was an experience like no other. We plan to return next year with a group of family and friends.

    Sharon2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect in every way. However - if you’re traveling when it could get colder..: like 39 degrees on an August Summer Night, be better prepared than we were!!!

    Becky2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our weekend at the "glampsite." These tents are located in a great area not too far from Traverse City and some local public access beachfront. Our site had a tent with cute lights, a comfy queen bed, a few tables and a chair, pillows and towels, a grill, a small firepit with wood, and a small table outside. Our site was a little closer to other sites and more exposed than I expected, but still felt private. The port a potties were super clean and well maintained. We enjoyed our stay!

    Melia2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful. The host was so nice and the “glamping” was incredible

    Thea2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it here! The tents were very fun. Beautiful scenery. A little bit of highway noise. We brought our dogs which was fun! Heidi was super great and recommended restaurants nearby. A very thoughtful place :)

    Heidi2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for being a great host. Your site made camping easy. I haven't been camping since I was kid and this made it pretty easy. Also the night sky sheesh, amazing.

Apple Orchard sits on 5 acres of very private land on East Torch Lake Drive. It is in a rustic setting with very natural landscaping. There is no water frontage to Torch, but it is very close by. It has a lovely covered deck area and a huge new firepit area. It is a cottage, and has its imperfections, but comfortable to spend a peaceful weekend! The master bedroom is huge!
  • Expect a clean, well maintained, and well organized stay. Kara is a great communicator and takes time to help make your stay the best it can be. The cabin is tranquil and peaceful. It feels like you are far off the beaten path, but you're really just minutes from all the action in the area. We can't wait to find another vacancy here!!

The foot bridge is the first step to the charm of Bridgewalk, it leads you across a meandering brook to the front porch where you may enjoy the rockers or porch swing in the shade of wonderful old maple trees. Built in 1895 by James Cameron, a lumber baron, the Inn reflects the gracious appointments of a more elegant era: large airy windows, pocket doors, high ceilings, woodwork of birds-eye maple, cherry and mahogany. Relax in common areas by the fireplace, or play the baby grand piano with us.
One night in this room and you'll be hooked. Relax in a queen size bed while you listen to the sounds of the brook through the french doors. Ceiling fan and private bath with shower.

Clean Portapotties. Hand pump well for water. You have access to hundreds of acres of orchard, forest, dune and meadow for hiking and biking. There are several ponds for paddling and fishing. Sometimes we hold events like weddings, concerts and yoga/meditation retreats. This site is rustic and intended for camping purposes only.
Just a couple miles from Torch Lake and Lake Michigan beaches. Many amazing farm stands, wineries, breweries, and art galleries in our area. We are located halfway between Traverse City and Petoskey.
  • Absolutely LOVE rocky top farms. My friend had found this place last year and a few of us went up there. My boyfriend and I loved it so much it was the first place we thought of when we were booking our trip this year! I can’t imagine wanting to camp anywhere else.

    Maddie2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very peaceful even with other campers nearby. Lovely property. Very kind host. We couldn't have asked for more and it was a perfect home away from home for us for the weekend.

    Kelsey2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Rocky Top is right off the highway and easy to find. Camping is primarily in a large meadow with scattered trees. The host was great in finding me a more secluded place tucked in the forest.

  • Great place to stay! A hidden gem!

    Joe2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely stay at Rocky Top again. What a gem! Campsite #2 had sufficient space and privacy between the other sites, thanks to a large grouping of pines. Water and toilets easily accessible. Stunning property and beautiful views to wake up to.

    Lindsay2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is an A++ camping stay. This is a gorgeous site with great amenities, perfectly located for the area! It was a quick drive to the Torch Lake sandbar and Lake Michigan, and the Eastport stores are stocked shockingly well for a small area.

  • Stayed here for our 5yr. Anniversary and was very pleasantly surprised by the amenities set out for us. We stayed at camp site #3 and upon arrival had fresh chopped firewood set out for us. There was also a table and two folding chairs and a nice bench at the fire pit as well. The porter potties were very clean and not smelly at all like most usually are. There is an area to chop and haul your own wood if you need more. The location is great for exploring all kinds of beaches and breweries just a short drive away. This place is so relaxing and beautiful. Lots of privacy. We had a lot of fun and will be back for sure! Highly recommend!

Up north at its best! Stay in a custom cabin in the middle of Rocky Top Farms, a cherry orchard. Please read this listing completely!
Pet friendly! Custom timber-frame cabin was built by my husband, father-in-law, and me with the help from many, many friends. The little cabin is in the middle of a large cherry orchard in the heart of beautiful northern Michigan and is situated on a pond surrounded by birch trees. The love is in the details at this very special place. Climb a ladder to the romantic sleeping loft and gaze at the incredible northern night skies! Wonderful front porch! Locally made art. Amazing soapstone wood stove for cozy warmth and romantic, flickering firelight. Shared outdoor 6 person hot tub. The small kitchen is equipped with all you might need to make some wonderful meals. Fridge, sink, oven with stove top griddle, microwave. Pots, pans, mixing bowls, utensils, dishes, cups, mugs, basic oils and spices are included. OH~ and coffee maker complete with coffee. Towels, bedding and firewood are also provided. Enjoy acres of Michigan orchard, prairie, and woodlands. The north end of Torch Lake is just a couple miles away. Lake Michigan beaches are within minutes of driving. Ski resorts, breweries (can you say SHORT'S BREWING?), wineries, restaurants, farm markets are all within reach for great day trips. This property is best accessed by four- wheel drive during the winter months. You could say we are off the beaten path. This cabin can be rented in conjunction with The Treehouse at Rocky Top Farms- check it out! The Treehouse is near The Cabin, but both buildings have been designed to have a feeling of privacy. There is a wall of pine trees between the cabins. Please be reminded that this is a working orchard. You may hear ambient tractor noises at various times. There are goats, chickens, dogs, cats and children who live on the property. You should have 4 wheel drive to access the cabin in winter- I am not joking!! Surrounded by lakes, beaches and hiking opportunities abound! We are located 15 minutes south of Charlevoix and 20 minutes north of Elk Rapids. Bellaire (home to Short's Brewery) is 20 minutes away. Traverse City is about 30 minutes to our south. See the guidebook for a listing of our favorite spots. No public transport around here, sorry. You must have 4 wheel drive to visit the cabin in the winter.... Otherwise, prepare to hike about 1/4 mile to the cabin, and park at the barn. If you have to be towed out, the cost is between $50-$100. The water here is well- water. It isn't the city water you might be used to. It does have a yellowish cast because there are many tannins in it. If this description sounds like it suits you, and you want to visit, we will welcome you in and make you feel right at home. And- you’ll be back to visit again.
We love our rural neck of the woods! Surrounded by lakes, beaches and hiking opportunities abound! See the guidebook for a listing of our favorite spots. Our immediate neighbors consist of farmers, artists, a college professor, bee keepers, a massage therapist, a chef, an energy conservationist and a professional star-gazer_ truly! Our neighborhood is spread across many miles, but we are look out for each other and are friends.
  • The little cabin is a super cool cozy spot! Decor is super fun and the entire place is super clean! If your looking for a private romantic place to get away, unplug, and enjoy your partners this is it!!

    Jason2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time relaxing at the little cabin. Had so much fun exploring the local beaches, hanging out with our golden (Maple) and meeting their pups too! The hot tub at night was such a treat to star gaze.

    Amilee2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at the Little Cabin for (a kid free!) 3 days and 2 nights. It was the most relaxed we’ve been in a long time! We hiked the property to the disc golf course. Lots of snow! Beautiful course. We made dinner together. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need. We sat in the hot tub under the stars, amazing! Played some intense games of Yahtzee. My favorite part of all was just drinking coffee by the fire, relaxing and listening to music. We stopped at the gift shop on the way out and purchased a few more jars of our hosts delicious cherry preserves. Our stay at the Little Cabin was just what we needed to reconnect with each other and reset. It was a wonderful experience and we can’t wait to return! :)

  • You couldn't ask for a better trip up North. The little cabin was a perfect getaway for my husband and me. It was easy to find, check-in was a breeze, and the cabin was very thoughtfully stocked. We especially loved the addition of the growler bottles for our trip to Shorts. You'll find plenty of DVD's, books, and games to keep you company if you wish. There is no microwave so keep that in mind. (I warmed my cold coffee up on top of the woodstove in just a few minutes) The place is decorated beautifully with hooks and shelves everywhere you need them. We snowshoed across the property, built a snowman out in the woods, relaxed in the hot tub both day and night- talk about STAR GAZING! We ran into their herd of goats a couple of times and were visited by the best farm dog, Rosie, every morning. The wood-burning stove took us a few tries to figure out and it does take some tending to while you are there but it was wonderful. Be aware that anything you bring into the cabin will leave smelling like a campfire, even my makeup bags have some aroma, no big deal but keep it in mind when you're packing. The hosts were super responsive to my texts/questions. Overall, this is the perfect place to relax, unplug, and enjoy the great Michigan outdoors. We will be back!

    Stephanie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
