  • To Whitney & Kyle, Thank you so much for hosting us. We had such a wonderful time in your beautiful cabin. It is absolutely stunning and so cozy. We hope to come back soon! We appreciate your quick responses to our questions.

  • This cabin was so cosy! We came up to the area to intro skiing (Super close to Sir Sams) to our kids for March Break... but due to the Coronavirus & Social Distancing our plans quickly changed. This cabin was a great escape from the world right now. It is a well decorated, super cosy space with a spa like bathroom! It is located well, and is close to Haliburton and tons of amenities. Great wifi, tv options for kids. The property included lots of trails to hike and explore ... there were lots of animal prints around, so we know there are bunnies, deer, skunks and squirrels ... although we only saw the squirrels ... without two 5-year olds you’d likely see more. The kids enjoyed it inside & out, and especially liked roasting marshmallows over the fire outside!

  • This space was the perfect relaxing getaway that we needed. Nice and quiet and surrounded by forest. The logging roads were great for snowshoeing as well

  • Cabin is as advertised. Clean and well appointed. Communication was easy. Would recommend a stop at the Haliburton Brewing Co in Abbey Gardens. Nice folk and great brew. Rhubarb restaurant was also a nice find.

  • Cozy, chic cabin in the woods. Very clean with so many thoughtful touches. It made it very hard to leave when our weekend was over.

  • We had a great time at Whitney & Kyle's. So relaxing and in the most serene setting. Who needs waterfront when you can have tranquility. The cabin is small but super cozy. We appreciate that the sheets and towels are provided as some other hosts ask that you bring your own. There's plenty of content on the Apple TV which we put to good use. If you do plan on cooking like we did quite a bit, do bring spices, cooking oil, coffee and sugar. Due to the size of the kitchen, there's only so much that can be stocked. It is a steep hill to get up to the cabin. It snowed quite a bit during our stay so, although, the driveway was sanded twice during our stay, we still struggled to get up the hill once and we were in an SUV with winter tires. I don't think it would be an issue in the summer or warmer weather though. Just plan your ride accordingly. The location couldn't be better. It's close to town, convenience store, lcbo and Sir Sam's Ski Resort literally 10-15 mins away. Even driving around the surrounding area, it was so beautiful with the snow. We loved it there and would definitely go back!

  • We had a relaxing time and Whitney and Kyle’s lovely cottage. A great sense of privacy and still close enough to several amenities; making it feel like a home away from home.

    Jessica2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Cranberry Cabin. We arrived right at the conclusion of a very large snowfall, so it was an absolute winter wonderland! The access driveway had been plowed, the heat had been turned on and some local craft beer had been placed in the fridge for us. We felt welcomed and were immediately impressed. The cabin is situated on a private wooded hilltop with no neighbours in sight. The cabin is quaint and charming. It is well stocked and super clean. The hosts were responsive and timely in their communication with us. We would definitely stay here again in the future and recommend to others.

  • We had SUCH a wonderful time staying at Sarah's house! The space is delightfully cozy with lots of thoughtful touches - chocolate when you arrive, tea, slippers, and super comfy towels. Everything exceeded our expectations! The location is great - blissfully removed from the main road but 7 min from the center of town. Great value and definitely recommend!

    Jeremy2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s home was sparkling clean and extremely well appointed with absolutely everything you need for a stay of one night or one month! • This was our second stay at the Sweet Country Oasis. We come up to Haliburton on a monthly basis to visit my dad in the local nursing home and Sarah's Airbnb is now our go to spot. Her unit is large, immaculate and in a beautiful location. We look forward to returning soon.

A truly STUNNING boutique cottage located in the heart of Haliburton. A scenic 2.5 hour drive from the GTA! Newly renovated with luxury finishes throughout. Positioned North West on the clear and pristine waters of Redstone Lake to take advantage of the jaw dropping views! Set on 4.25 acres, an enchanting set of steps lead you past exposed rock faces to 200ft of private water front with dock & decking area for diving, swimming & relaxing. A perfect couples retreat or family vacation destination!
INSTAGRAM: @THEBIRCHWOODCOTTAGECO Inquire with any availability or property questions. Please note - the cottage is located off of a private road which is plowed regularly during the winter months, however it is very hilly. For this reason, we STRONGLY recommend bringing an all wheel drive vehicle/SUV. From October to the start of June, the dock is removed and placed in storage for the winter. The Birchwood Haliburton is nothing short of awesome. The interior of the property has been lovingly and thoroughly renovated to provide you with a true Boutique Cottage to enjoy in its entirety! We like to refer to Redstone Lake as the jewel of The Haliburton Highlands. The cottage is elevated and perched proudly to take advantage of the expansive long lake views. If you are looking for privacy, tranquility & relaxation, look no further! Boasting rich reclaimed elm wood flooring throughout, our 3 bedroom sanctuary comfortably sleeps 6 across three luxurious king beds. – all linens & towels are provided with compliments. The Birchwood features an open plan living area with a cathedral ceiling finished in pine and double height windows – the interior is flooded with natural daylight to make for a light, easy & breezy stay. The new gourmet kitchen comes fully equipped with all of the small & large appliances & utensils needed to create a delicious meal to share with family and friends. Basic spices, olive oil, tea & coffee are provided with compliments. There are two full bathrooms – one on the main floor and another one the second floor which acts as an en-suite with full washer and dryer. The three season screened in ‘Haliburton Room’ acts as the perfect rustic escape from those super warm summer days, or as an evening retreat to crack out the board games! Our expansive deck can be enjoyed all day long with beautiful lounging & dining furniture, gas BBQ, and a hot tub with views that are second to none! Just off the deck to the rear of the property, there is a fire pit to enjoy on those cooler evenings. Redstone lake is part of a 3 lake chain for miles of exploring and crystal clear water for swimming, diving, relaxing - you name it! Down by our beautifully natural and rugged shore line, we upgraded two decked platforms and added chairs for you to relax and soak up some Vitamin D. There is a 4 person Pedal Boat, two Kayaks and two Paddle Boards for you to use with compliments - 6 adult life jackets in varying sizes are provided, as well as two youth life jackets. There are approximately 120 steps through the beautiful forest to access the water front. The cottage is just minutes from the 80,000 acre Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve with its groomed hiking and biking trails and world-famous Wolf Observatory. Nestled deep in the woods, The Birchwood Haliburton is a pristine gem in the heart of Ontario's vacation paradise.
  • My husband and I plus the dog had the greatest three night stay at The Birchwood. Talk about the most stylish cozy cottage on the most private scenic setting. We walked for hours on the frozen lake with views of rolling tree lined hills everywhere. It's truly a winter wonderland. After our long days outdoors we had a wood burning fire and a hot tub to come home to. This cottage is a perfect getaway any season of the year. I highly recommended connecting with nature and being spoiled with top notch hospitality. An A++ for both. Thanks for a perfect getaway at your beautiful retreat The Birchwood Ryan and Blair, we look forward to returning.

    Anita2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was hands down the BEST Airbnb experience we’ve yet to have. The space was more beautiful than the photos, and exceeded all of our expectations. Ryan was an amazing host, and really went above and beyond to accommodate us, and make us feel welcome and comfortable. Can’t wait to come back to The Birchwood during the summer, and to visit their new property when it’s ready in June 2020. Thanks again for everything!

    Kendal2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is absolutely stunning. The host Ryan goes above and beyond to make the place welcoming and comfortable. My family and I will definitely be returning in the future.

    Stephanie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly, it doesn't get better than this! Ryan & Blair go above and beyond on every level possible. The cottage itself is IMMACULATE and every detail has been meticulously thought out for maximum comfort an enjoyment. The level of quality, from the mattresses & lines to the amenities & decor, is extraordinary. When you combine all this with the location itself and the incredible views, plus hosts who really care and want to take good care of you, you understand why this place is such a hot ticket. We had an amazing stay and we can't wait to be back! Thank you Ryan & Blair for being such great hosts!

    Lauren2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place was outstanding and we had a wonderful time. A slice of heaven and so many personal touches that it was everything we could have imagined. We will be back again.

    Scott2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Haliburton Birchwood exceeded our expectations. What a fabulous location with top notch accommodations. The place was fully stocked. The kitchen had everything down to blenders and bakeware. Our family had such an amazing family day week. The winter setting and 5star cottage accommodations made our week perfect. We look forward to returning.

    Melanie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Welcome to an experience you shall never forget. The most scenic of Views from the Deck overlooking the Haliburton Forest & did you notice that while looking you could be soaking in an expertly maintaned Hot Tub? We came up for Valentine's with winter in full force and temperatures hitting Minus 33. This I would imagine be challenging to a Host to stay on top of his game to make sure everything is functioning in this climate and I can say everything was above and beyond our expectations and functioning perfectly. These guys are Pros with Hearts big gold with special touches you will have to see to believe. So glad to have been embraced by The Birchwood and all of the Lovley that comes with it. Book it and you will see. 🇨🇦 Team Birchwood 🇨🇦 Karen & Troy & Donovan 🐾

    Troy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan and Blair were the most wonderful hosts! Communication leading up to our stay was fantastic - they provided quick responses to all of my questions and also provided a welcome manual, which was very helpful. Upon arrival, we found a welcome note along with complimentary wine - a great personal touch that made us feel very welcome! We were also provided with complimentary coffee, tea and cold brew, which our group really appreciated. Ryan and Blair also had the fireplace going for us prior to our arrival, so the cottage was warm when we arrived. The cottage is beautiful, very clean and spacious (there were 6 of us and we were very comfortable). Many items that we would typically bring with us were provided - basic ingredients for cooking, cookware, beach towels, board games, etc. We enjoyed snow shoeing, ice fishing, tobogganing and frequented the hot tub. We all really enjoyed ourselves and would love to return next year. I highly recommend Ryan and Blair's place for a fun and relaxing getaway!

Located in the heart of Haliburton County, in Eagle Lake this all year round cottage, located on private 2 acre lot offers 3 bedrooms, spacious fully equipped kitchen with island and harvest table, large sitting room with floor to ceiling windows. It offers great privacy on 2 acre lot, just steps from the beach and boat launch, a few minutes from Sir Sam's ski hill , walking distance from the grocery store. Lots of Hiking & Biking right at the doorstep. It is not a waterfront property.
The sleeping accommodations: 2 bedrooms with double bed in each, 1 bedroom with bunk bed - twin over double, pullout sofa in the sitting room.
The cottage is located on a picturesque hillside lot, close to Eagle Lake and on the way to Sir Sam Ski and Mountain bike Hill. Lots of hiking trails in the neighborhood and showmobile trails . Close to grocery store, and LCBO, 20 minutes away from Haliburton. 25 min from Haliburton Forest and Wolf Center, and its quaint little stores and art galleries. 1.5 hours drive from Algonquin Park Although we are not a waterfront property - there is a public beach 7 min walk, as well as boat launch. We do offer rare opportunity to rent weekends as opposed to entire weeks as most cottages do) There is plenty to see and experience in the area throughout the year from great beaches, picturesque trails, local galleries and sculpture park. It is really a great outpost for your day adventures. It is a great fit for outgoing fun loving families and friends. Please do a good research on the area before - some activities have to be booked in advance (such as dogsledding). The property is located on the hillside - it does get a bit precarious in winter (mostly towards the end as snow thaws and freezes back ), but if you feel yourself at home on the ski hill - it might me the right type of challenge:). It is not suitable for people with difficulty walking or disabilities.
  • This was a fantastic Airbnb Cottage. Myself and three friends went up for the weekend (End of Feb) and we had an amazing time. The cottage is that perfect mix of cozy and practical that I feel is necessary when staying at cottage up north. Its location at first might seem extremely secluded but then you realize the lake is across the road the location is awesome! It was a beautiful time to go up and the weather was perfect. Olga is a Superhost for the reason. If we needed to help with something she would message back almost instantly with an answer. The only thing I found to be difficult with the space was when it came to heating the cottage. The grey furnace in the front room and individual baseboard heaters in the bedrooms are quite outdated. Myself and my friends were confused as to how certain dials worked and found we were too hot most of the time, especially at night when sleeping. I feel like more detailed notes on how to use/turn on/turn off the heating components in the cottage would be nice added to touch to the already detailed House Rules of the Cottage. Other than that this is a 5 star cottage experience and I highly recommend staying here! We might be back in the summer, if its available!

    Jack2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Olga’s cottage is exactly as described- a rustic, comfortable and clean cottage. It was well-stocked with kitchen items. Olga’s explanation of how everything works made it very easy as well. It is in a great location for skiing at Sir Sam’s. Olga’s communication is fabulous-questions were answered within minutes if not seconds. We had a great stay.

    Shelley2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Second time we have stayed at Olga's place. Great location for access to Sir Sam's ski hill. The local store In Eagle Lake with LCBO is very close by too.

    Rob2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Olga is a great host. She is quick to respond and allowed us flexibility in checkout time which was great because we were skiing at Sir Sam's. There is living space up stairs and downstairs so that you can split into two groups (kids and adults in our case) if desired for quiet time and game time.

    Mike2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a week during Christmas week. Was wonderful to be so close to ski hill. Kids did ski camp there. Cottage was spacious for 5 people. Would be a bit tight for 2 families with kids as there is only one small bathroom. Everything was great and we had a good time. There is a local shop nearby 5 min where you can buy all the essentials. You do need a 4wd to get up and down the driveway in winter. The eagle lake is beautiful and the area must be very nice in summer. We visited the wild center, was very educational. Need to book dogsledding in advance. Would recommend and would try to come back in summer.

Lay in the hammock mid afternoon with a good book or just have a rest. Explore the three lake chain. Divers rock is fun for all ages. For those of you that love to fish we have the most delicious trout. Try a game of horseshoes while you are here. Lots of space to run around and explore.
  • What a place!! Beautiful log home, tastefully decorated, with the most amazing beds, overlooking a gorgeous lake trout filled lake! We felt as if we had the entire island to ourselves, seen two souls all week! Def recommended💯 Thanks for your outstanding hospitality Brian & Donna😊

The cabin is cozy and comfortable with all the amenities you could need. Would gladly stay here again!

    Kayla2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret's house was an amazing find for a short getaway in the middle of nature. Her place is sparkling clean, very stylish, cabin-cozy and comfortable. The hot-tub is a really nice addition - sitting in it with jets off and simply listening to the trees was a serene experience that is hard to replicate. Check-in was very easy - Margaret welcomed us and showed us everything we needed to know. The welcoming gift and card were very nice touches! Margaret is an amazing host... she was very responsive, kind, helped us plan local activities and did an outstanding job making sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. She deserves superhost status no questions asked. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend to a couple or small family looking for a quick retreat into the woods. Five stars across the board.

We had an amazing time and it is an amazing place.....great personal touches, cleanliness and just a terrific place. I truly cannot thank them enough and we enjoyed an exceptional stay. Wow!!

  • Geoff and Charlene’s place was amazing. So cute and cozy and had everything we needed. Super clean and Geoff was so helpful with anything we needed. We can’t wait to go back!

    Linda2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage couldn’t have been a better fit for our trip. It was right beside a local snowmobile trail, and also only a 10 minute sled to Haliburton forest, which for us was perfect. Geoff and Charlene’s place was a great cottage to relax in after a day of sledding; cozy and quaint. The space has a nice cottage feel but also modern in ways, with a gorgeous shower and not to mention the lovely heated bathroom floors. It’s right on the lake so as pretty as it was in the winter, I can only imagine it’s view in the summer. You won’t regret booking this cute little cottage, we had a great time and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a little getaway or just simply a place to stay.

  • We had a wonderful time at Geoff and Charlene’s cottage! The spot is amazing, and as other comments say pictures don’t do justice to the beauty of this place! The cottage is extremely well equipped, in amazing condition, and just really really cozy. The views to the frozen lake were just stunning!! Geoff and Charlene are very nice, helpful and even left us a bottle of wine to enjoy as part of our stay. We highly recommend for a lovely escape break!

    Pierrick2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Geoff and Charlene's abode was the most fantastic place we stayed during our road trip. From the prepared firewood to them making space for us to walk on the ice, I would go so far as to say that these two are definitely in my top 5 of hospitable AirBNB hosts! They're also really nice! Thank you both so much for providing such a beautiful cottage on Kennisis Lake for my friends and I to enjoy!

    Dezz2020-02-13T00:00:00Z

    Inderpreet2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend this location. Sharon and her husband were very welcoming. The room and the adjacent bathroom were spotless and ready for our arrival. What made our stay special were the small extras provided: home-baked bread and muffins, continental breakfast and a car brushing following a snowy night. Unexpected, but so very appreciated. I would absolutely stay at this AirBnB on any future trips to Haliburton.

  • Sharon is a wonderful and friendly host! She's always thinking about her guest's comfort and enjoyment. I was only able to stay one night and leave fairly early but I plan on going back. The room is done in red accents, my favourite colour and a good size. She had wonderful homemade treats which were so yummy! I had my morning tea and breakfast on her front deck overlooking lovely trees and the bubbling sound of her pond. I loved it!

  • This place is wonderful. I would like to say everything was perfect but it was our first time getting to stay in a cottage far from the city. However, everything we carried with us that we thought we would need was already there. The place is full of equipment for anything you will ever need. I never thought like "if they had this it would be good". The place is basically perfectly thought of whatever you may need. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They were there every time I needed them. And they were very quick to solve issues. All in all if I had so much fun in winter in this place, I can't imagine going in summer. Definitely gonna be back here at another time.

  • Exactly we needed!! I booked Nikki’s cottage for a girls getaway and we had an amazing stay!! The cottage is cozy and welcoming with a fabulous Canadian decor theme and tributes to her family and The Tragically Hip...loved it! Nikki was quick to respond to messages. The little things make a difference... there are plenty of games, books, and movies, the dishwasher is super quiet, beds are comfortable, spices and condiments to use, great water pressure in the shower, and a beautiful view to the river... what more could we have asked for. Thank you Nikki, we hope to stay here again!!

  • We had a great stay! Lee provided great suggestions for things to do nearby. We also enjoyed the hot tub very much! This cottage has everything you need. We would love to come back!

    Blair2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Nikki’s cottage! Nikki was very quick to respond to any questions we had. We were 4 adults and found the cottage to be more than enough room for all of us. The cottage is well equipped and we enjoyed the tv and game options in the evenings (and the hot tub!). The OFSC snowmobile trail is only a couple minute ride from the cottage which was very convenient. We would definitely stay again.

  • Nikki was welcoming and made check-in and out easy. The place was a great winter escape and the view of the water from the hot tub was perfect!

    Matthew2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Nikki's family cottage. The place was sparkling clean and so cozy. She left us a bottle of wine and a card which was such a nice touch. There were many board games and DVDs to choose from as well. While there are neighboring cottages, the place felt very private and was surrounded by trees. The river in the back of the cottage had no neighbors adjacent so it felt very private. The hottub was amazing and so nice to sit in during the winter. My only complaint was the construction that was happening next door - it was quite noisy for most of the day and started fairly early in the am, so if you are a late sleeper bring earplugs. However, this was a minor inconvenience in comparison to the lovely cottage and the construction finished in the afternoon. We would love to come back in the fall and use the firepit!

    Sarah2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Nikki's cottage was perfect for our family vacation. Everything was as expected and more. We would visit again and recommend to others.

  • Albert is a congenial and welcoming host. The house (and bed!) is comfortable, clean, and well equipped. Decor is very cool - both inside and out. And driving an electric vehicle we especially appreciated Albert's offer of an extension cord to top up our car overnight!

  • Such an amazing place! It’s perfectly placed at the northwestern edge of the local geocaching tour. But we’d have happily gone out of our way for this gem. The cottage is spacious and eclectically decorated. Exploring the art and collectibles was part of the fun. I just wish the weather had been better so that we could’ve enjoyed the fire pit. Next time!

    Julia2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Hippo in a Birdcage was a homey, funky place to stay, convenient to local attractions and neighbouring towns. Albert and Sandra’s hospitality was excellent, and they truly welcomed us and made us feel at home.

  • We had such a great weekend at Carol Ann and Aaron's cottage. The weather was gorgeous and the cottage was so cute and just like the pictures! I had a few questions and Aaron always got back to me very quickly and was very helpful. This cottage had everything we needed and is in a beautiful spot! The wall of windows provided tons of natural light and an amazing view. I would love to come back and stay at this cottage during the summer because I imagine the lake/property/view is even more stunning. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Aaron and Carol Ann’s place is a real gem. It’s exactly as it looks in the photos with a great large open concept kitchen and living and dining room with tons of natural light. Aaron was really quick with responding to any questions and let us check in early as we were traveling a good distance to get there. The fire was roaring when we got there, which was a nice touch. Miskwabi Lake is beautiful in the winter so I can only imagine how nice it is in summer. Overall the place is fantastic, neighbors are nice and very helpful and the hosts are 10/10. Couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks Aaron and Carol Ann!

The decor was lovely and it was easy to feel at home. Spotlessly clean! Had everything we needed. The lake was a bit farther than I expected, but it only took a few minutes to get there. Overall - great value and I would recommend this cottage.

  • Wow!It just like staying at a luxury resort. We had a wonderful time at this beautiful cottage. It was absolutely perfect holiday we feel after one week long stay. The cottage is far enough away from the main road, but just located the side of the lake with great views. The bed are so comfortable and we had great sleeping every nights. Cooking in the kitchen with top range appliances is a pleasure. The spacious outdoor cedar deck has a comfort sofa for sunshine afternoon tea and lovely table for dinner with nice sunset lake view. Specially the quality of toiletries at bathroom are even higher than in high star hotel. We enjoy the staying at this wonderful place and very appropriate to the Host-Snez!

  • Our week long stay was more than “Just Right” - it was absolutely perfect (weather included). The cottage is so fresh and clean and comfortable. The decor is new and modern but still has that cozy cottagey feel. We were impressed with the extras provided. The kitchen is fully equipped, the spa-like bathroom is complete with toiletries and robes, and even blanket wraps are provided when sitting outside on these now crisp fall mornings and cooler evenings. The upper deck and dock are large and new with perfect seating arrangements for just enjoying the gorgeous lake views and changing colours of the trees. Every detail to make ones stay enjoyable and comfortable has truly been thought of. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to enjoy your little slice of paradise at “Just Right”.

    Don2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome stay! A very well appointed cottage, on a beautiful lake!

    Ulrica2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you want luxury book “Just Right”, this property far by exceeded our expectations, from walking in and being met with a beautiful clean smell and being exceptionally well cleaned (and I’m fussy!) We had the most relaxing stay, we loved the comfy beds and fluffy towels. The kitchen had everything you may need. Then the outside space was fantastic and well maintained. As a family with young children (3 and 6 years old) we really appreciated the use of a washing machine and dryer. Any questions we had before and during our stay were answered quickly. Thank you for everything.

    Rachel2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I just returned from our second visit to Just Right. We had a wonderful time again at this beautiful cottage. Every detail is thought out to make the visit enjoyable for the guests. Since we visited last year, they put in new kitchen appliances, a laundry room, and a new deck. Cooking in the kitchen is a pleasure with everything you could possibly need. We took advantage of the kayak, paddle board, and canoes each day. The beds are so comfortable and we had great sleeps after being on the dock all day. It was a pleasure to visit and hope to return in the future. Beautiful cottage on beautiful lake.

    Nancy2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is amazing. Do not hesitate for one minute to book it. The cottage was spotless when we arrived. Snez has left beautiful toiletries (like a hotel), clean robes and slippers. The dock has sun all day, there are toys for the lake, and the outdoor furniture is gorgeous. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the upper deck on the very luxe outdoor couches. It’s about 30 min to Haliburton if you feel like getting out for an hour or two. I can’t review this cottage highly enough. It’s modern but still cottagey. Book it!!! Oh and we were one couple, our 6 month baby and our nanny. Lots of room and privacy with the bunkie.

    Adena2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Heaven - "Just Right" really does describe this property. Far enough away from the minor road, far enough away from the lake side, secluded yet with an intriguing view through the pines to the lake, ample accommodation for a family of 4, multiple dining options - inside, on the balcony or down by the lakeside on the deck. Really thoughtful equipping - a kitchen with top range oven/hob & combi-microwave, fridge and (a personal bug-bear) wonderfully sharp knives for food prep. A good sized bathroom decked out like a spa - wash away the lake water in the shower or luxuriate in the bath. For leisurely days reading by the lake to more active days exploring the multiple lakes in the provided kayak, canoes and paddle board this place caters for all. With all this on offer it is difficult to think about venturing far but Snez highlighted the local attractions to us - we enjoyed the Husky cuddling session, we were transfixed by the Wolf enclosure and we had planned to do more at the Haliburton Forest reserve - just couldn't drag ourselves away from Just Right anymore. Cannot exaggerate how wonderfully relaxed we found ourselves at the end of our stay - no mean feat considering we've a 15 yr old boy and an 18 yr old girl with us. We all agreed that this was the best airbnb we have stayed in to date. Thank you so much Snez & Voja, we so hope to be back!

    Claire2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay with our family. The location is breathtaking. The lake water around the dock was weed free and great for swimming. We enjoyed the paddle board, kayaks and canoes daily. The cottage is sparkling clean, with high quality furnishings and touches. You can tell the hosts put a lot of care into making sure their guests are very comfortable during their stay. We highly recommend!

  • We really had a very special time at Kirby’s house. Sitting in the hot tub, near the river, under the snow covered trees was really magical. We came to ski at Sir Sams with our kids and they had a blast. We had lots of snowball fights and had great sleeps. Thanks Kirby!

    Maria2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Kirby's place looks even better than on the pictures. It is well located (just by a small river that you can hear from the garden), near town so very convenient. Wildlife on site, far enough from the road, and great Jacuzzi! Kirby is a great host, super responsive and is available if you need anything during your stay. Definitely recommend this place, and would come again for sure...

  • The place was fantastic and perfect for a quiet getaway from the city. The river was very beautiful. The hot tub was great although a bit finicky at times. There place itself was very spacious with a large kitchen. The beds were a bit hard but still comfortable and the plenty of closet space. Kirby had great communication and sent someone to check up on us. Would recommend too those wanting some peaceful R&R.

    Daniel2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a home more than a cottage. Lots of room in the upstairs bedrooms and a huge living room with super comfy couches. A huge kitchen to cook and eat in. Best was the use of the big deck and bbq which are sadly missing in the city. We enjoyed our family get together BBQ in such a peaceful and picturesque setting. The rushing river is oh so beautiful and relaxing. Just minutes to the store so it was easy to pick up three times those amazing in-store hand baked yummy pies. All thoroughly enjoyed and fast to disappear. A great location and a responsible and caring host.

  • This place is incredible! The bathroom and kitchen were spacious and modern; the living room and bedroom were so comfortable and charmingly rustic. Everything was sparkling clean, and the kitchen and bathroom were well-stocked. We felt at home right away, sitting in front of the fireplace and reading. Sarah and Steve were immediately welcoming - they even baked cookies for us before we arrived! They gave us a number of suggestions for where to hike in the area, checked-in throughout our trip to make sure we had everything we needed, and Steve even helped dig our car out of the snow. We would definitely come back!

  • Sarah and Steve's home is absolutely beautiful. Not only is it one of the loveliest homes I've ever stayed in, but also so warm and inviting. The room is gorgeous and the bed extremely comfortable. They are the perfect hosts making every effort to ensure I was comfortable and enjoying my visit. The breakfast was fantastic! Overall, just an amazing value. Definitely look forward to my next visit. Thanks so much to you both.

  • I just loved my time at Sarah’s and Steve‘s place! The house is so beautiful and super clean. The whole interior is wonderful and made me feel comfortable and like home right away. Furthermore the house is well equipped and especially the kitchen has everything you might need to cook dinner. Sarah and Steve both are lovely people who made me feel at home immediately. Depending on what you want you can have interesting conversation with them or just have your privacy. They also shared some recommendations about things to do in the area with me. Everything was just perfect and there is nothing I could say that I did not like. If I had more time I would have stayed a few days longer. All the best to you two!

  • This is a beautiful space. It's on a dirt road but only a couple hundred meters from the highway so don't be dissuaded. Every part of the house is just fantastic.

The little Piece of Paradise cottage is located on Paradise Lake (Haas Lake on a map), about 5 km out of the main town, Haliburton where there is Fleming College, School of the Arts, Sir Sam's Ski and Bike, Stores, Shops, and Restaurants.
The Cottage has 20 feet of lake access and is a short 1 minute walk to the dock. The cottage property is an "L" shape and has a small lane-way separating the waterfront property to the cottage. There is a private dock to enjoy, a paddleboat, row boat, canoe, and kayak to enjoy the lake. There is a ladder to get into the water from the dock. Since it's a smaller lake the water is usually very warm all summer long, so great for swimming!! The waterfront is not sandy and there are weeds so for swimming we recommend using a floaty or the ladder and avoid touching the bottom. 5 km from the main town of Haliburton which has: Foodland, The Independent, Gas Stations, Restaurants (some include Subway, 2-4-1 Pizza, 2 Pub Style Restaurants, Breakfast Places (The Kozy Korner, the Donut Shop), Shops, Gas Stations, LCBO, The Beer Store, Jug City, Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, etc. Sir Sam's Ski and Bike is about 22 km from the cottage.
The lane-way that the cottage is located on is very quiet and the lake is also usually quiet with few motor boats. The highway is close to the cottage but separated by forest so there is some road noise from traffic in the distance.
  • Cozy cottage with everything you need in kitchen and bathroom. Comfortable couches and good view of the lake. Very quiet weekend retreat. Hosts went out of their way to help get an extension cord rigged so we could plug in our diesel truck overnight (-29C).

  • Laura was an amazing host and very easy to contact if needed! Her place was a perfect spot for a weekend getaway. The cottage was super clean and cozy and had everything we needed. I highly recommend this place!

  • The little piece of paradise surpassed its name for sure! We were so thankful for all the thoughtful touches added around the cottage. Would highly recommend staying here! Laura and Heiko are invested hosts who created an atmosphere to really enjoy what the cottage has to offer. Already thinking of coming back soon!

    Meaghan2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location, amazing lake and overall the house is very cozy with a lot of light and space. Laura was always in touch, giving advices about the area and the house itself. It was really perfect experience. Highly recommended!

  • Our favorite spot was the gazebo, right on the water. We enjoyed every minute!!!

    Stella2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Laura's place. The cottage was super clean, and there were many thoughtful touches throughout the property. Really comfortable stay, lots of little touches and amenities that went above and beyond. Great dock area, and location close to town. Laura was super communicative throughout the booking process. Thanks for a relaxing trip!

    Lia2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is perfect for a getaway from the city. The cottage is very clean and very very cute. The dock has an amazing gazebo, a paddle boat, paddle board and kayak! Laura was very easy to contact and always responded very quickly. I would highly recommend this cottage!

    Samantha2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a wonderful mini vacation at Laura and Heiko's. It truly is a little piece of paradise! The cottage was clean and very well appointed with everything you could need, and then some! We are currently expecting our first child, and Laura and Heiko were kind enough to provide a bottle of non-alcoholic wine for me, along with a bottle of their own personalized wine. It's located just a few minutes' drive from downtown Haliburton, but once you're there, you'd never know the town was so close. The waterfront deck is where I spent hours relaxing on the comfortable outdoor seating under the shade of the gazebo, either reading or just enjoying the sounds of nature. We were also lucky enough to get a visit from the resident chipmunk and various birds. We also made use of the kayak and paddle boat, and noted stand-up paddle boards were available, but didn't get a chance to use them. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay, and look forward to returning—next time with our little one in tow!

A bright, open concept, newly rebuilt cottage set on a small private lake. High ceilings, stunning screened in veranda, large kitchen, and panoramic views make for a memorable getaway. Master bedroom has exquisite views, as well as an en suite bathroom with a soaker tub. Cottage patio overlooks a beach with access to the quiet, Redstone River-fed lake. Enjoy campfires, hiking and watersports in the summer, and a cozy, warm retreat by the fire after a day of skiing or snowshoeing in the winter.
THINGS TO BRING WITH YOU: There is a fire pit outside, but you will have to bring your own wood. We provide toilet paper, soap, dish detergent, and cleaning products, as well as bedding, pillows, towels, and dish towels. Although we provide towels for use in the cottage, we do not provide beach towels...so bring your own! You will find oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar and coffee filters. You bring the rest! Do not drink the water....there is a bottled water dispenser and we provide 2 large bottles of drinking water.
This private lake has only two properties and no motorboats. The only sounds come from the birds and the moving water. Unlike many cottage properties where you have to drive on long, winding country roads to get there, access to our cottage is very easy. Located off the main Kennisis Lake Road, you drive only about 400 meters down a municipal road which is ploughed all winter. And once you are there you will feel like you are living in the wilds, with only nature in sight. We are on 5 acres of private property overlooking a private lake and a river, with one cottage off in the distance across the lake. Ten minute drive to the Haliburton Forest (wolf centre, dog sledding, trails), 18 minutes to Sir Sam's Ski Hill, and lots more to see and do in the Haliburton area.
  • My husband, my in-laws, our 2 dogs and I had a great stay at Joanne's. If you're looking for privacy, beautiful view, comfortable stay then look no further! The kitchen is the biggest kitchen we've ever had in any cottage that we rented before. My mother-in-law loved cooking in the kitchen! We all love how private the location feels. The only other cottage we can see is Joanne's across the lake! It was quite serene. Joanne took time to stop by with her husband to greet us which goes to show how attentive she is to all her guests. We absolutely loved our time and hope to come back again next year!

  • Stunning home on a private lake! Quiet and serene. We splurged for our anniversary weekend and it did not disappoint! We had a lovely stay. The hosts were not able to meet us in person, but their communication was excellent and we felt very welcome. We brought our mountain bikes, and this was a great location close to the Haliburton Forest and Sir Sam’s.

    Heather2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is a gem in a scenic area and Joanne truly is a super host! We were up for a weekend wedding in Minden this September and enjoyed a relaxing cottage stay. The layout, decor and cleanliness of this cottage is top notch. It was a family friendly spot ideal for those who like to cook and share meals together. We’d love to come back on a warmer weekend to enjoy a swim from the sandy beach area and a meal on the screened porch. Everything was perfect! All of us agreed that if we could make an annual “girls” trek to this spot we would!

    Margot2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • My family and myself where very pleased with the beautiful landscape and architecture. Coupled with outstanding hospitality and amenities. The property had excellent privacy and was perfectly located everything was within a 15 minute drive but was far away from any kind of traffic. Truly heaven on earth.

    Kristi2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is a supremely stunning space with a lovely aesthetic. Extremely clean and very cozy. The hosts are wonderful, easy to get a hold of and provided lots of information about the area. Super relaxing atmosphere and feels like you're in your own little paradise having the private lake in the backyard. Rooms were comfortable and the kitchen was a joy to cook in! Would love to return again!

    Kaileigh2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Went up to Joanne’s cottage for a weekend getaway with my significant other. As soon as we opened the door, we were astonished by the size and cleanliness. The pictures on the site don’t do this cottage justice. It’s very spacious, new, and inviting. We are into cooking, so the kitchen and BBQ access were amazing. The master bedroom was beautiful with an en-suite washroom and bathtub. We particularly enjoyed the screened-in sunroom, as we were up north during mosquito and black fly season. Lastly, if you’re into privacy, this is the place for you. You can see Joanne’s cottage across the lake, but other than that, it feels like you’re miles away from anybody. I would highly recommend this beautiful cottage to anybody looking for a getaway to a private, quiet spot. Thanks again for everything, Joanne!

    Laura2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Joanne was great to communicate with. Everything was ready for our arrival, we received a quick tour of the cottage and property. The cottage was very clean and comfortable for 2 couples and a baby. Had everything we needed for our stay, property is very relaxing and sounds of nature were fantastic. Much larger then expected and fantastic view! Would definitely book again.

  • AMAZING PROPERTY!! Surrounded by nature, the location is very private and you really do have the whole place to yourself which was exactly what me and my girlfriend were looking for. Great place if traveling with a dog as they are free to swim and run around of leash. The property has much to explore! You really feel free when you are up there. The view from the deck is just perfect to enjoy and the house itself was great. Very clean, well kept and also stayed cool inside even on a hot day! Many beautiful trees on the property and hearing the sound of flowing water pass all day was so peaceful. Donna and Brian were great hosts. It was the perfect getaway!!

We bought 5 bottles of honey which Marta made from her own farm just because it tastes so nice. We will come back here for sure!

  • Marta is a fantastic host. She responded to our queries in a timely fashion, and is very thorough. The space is very clean, and rustic chic with exposed wood. She was present during check in and check out, and even welcomed us with some delicious fresh baked bread. There are plenty of towels and kitchen utensils. The bathroom and kitchen are both very clean. Her husband Magnus was very helpful with setting up the BBQ on a short notice. My favourite was the wood burning fireplace with the rocking chair. The house is situated on a ski slope overlooking a lake, very scenic and peaceful area. It was the perfect location for our family reunion. Thank you Marta!

We had plenty of space to spread out, beautiful fires, indoors and out, with access to the best games room I’ve ever experienced! It was clean and well equipped in every way...we love to cook as a group and had everything we needed for gorgeous meals. The area gave us quick access to hiking and several beautiful parks. • Had a great stay at Howard’s place! The place was really clean and even more spacious than it looked on the pictures. The kitchen was really well equipped and the dining room had amazing views of the lake that made for breath-taking breakfast views. The living room was nice and spacious. Perfect for our group of friends. We loved just sitting around the fireplace and admiring the view. Bedrooms were really clean with fresh bedding. Upstairs bathroom is gorgeous, with tons of space and Cottage charm. Did I mention the place had a Sauna!? We spent quite a bit of time in there after shoveling out a rink on the lake and having a nice game of hockey on it. And to top it all off, the loft area was PERFECT for watching the game, playing some pool, and just hanging out by the wood fireplace. Howard even left us tips on how to best stream the game on the massive projector screen. Overall, great host and a great experience. Would definitely stay here again!
