Creating memories: Basque Coast & Family Winery
VIEW THE BASQUE COAST - VISIT THE FAMILY WINERY - TASTE THE WINES PAIRED WITH ANCHOVIES The places visited make this experience a combination of: breathtaking views, authentic basque culture and tastes and textures new to the senses that will stay in your memory forever. The BREATHTAKING VIEWS will start in Mollarri, an island unknown even to some locals, which offers a panoramic view of Zarautz like no other spot. At the same time, it is the location for a curious story concerning an industrial dock in the early 20th century. Those views are still alive in the beautiful COAST ROAD that links Zarautz and Getaria, village in which Basque culture and tradition are the main attraction. Learn about the village's link to the whale, the exceptional gastronomy based in GRILLED FISH and the history of Juan Sebastian Elcano, the first man who circumnavigated the world. Go into town and take pleasure in a relaxing stroll through the enchanting MEDIEVAL STREETS of the center, and the picturesque color and charm of the fisherman’s houses with their beautiful wooden balconies. The town’s location, perched on the hills overlooking the sea, offers spectacular views that will stay in your memory forever. And last but not least... the cherry on the cake: THE FAMILY TXAKOLI WINERY: Learn all the wine making process, from grape aging to bottling, and spoil your senses by tasting the different types of Txakoli in the winery along with ‘bonito’ (a type of tuna common in the Atlantic Sea), and/or the delicious and popular Getaria’s Anchovies. Take a walk through the vineyard and talk directly to the wine makers, that are also the owners of the winery! With the fishing village of Getaria, the sea, the vineyard and the mountains in front of you, I can guarantee you that this experience will stay in your memory forever. Other things to note After the visit to the winery, the standard tour would have finished, and I would drive you to your hotel/apartment. Having said that, there are many clients of me who choose to have lunch in one of the typical grilled fish restaurants in Getaria... And that’s definitely an excellent option! My recommendations, yours to take: ElKano, Kaia, Iribar or Txoko Restaurant. Reservation in advance is recommended. If you would like me to drive you to San Sebastian after having lunch, please, contact me and ask for a price quotation.
