Guest suite in Bainbridge Island
4.97 out of 5 average rating, 194 reviewsExplore Bainbridge Island from a Peaceful Garden Guest Suite
Wake up from a blissful night’s sleep and step out for a morning walk in the fresh air and woodsy garden before breakfast. This secluded guest suite charms with its comfy furnishings, a full kitchen, and big glass doors opening to lush green spaces. Comfortable and modern, our walk-out level space features a bedroom with a dreamy bed, all natural bedding and walk-in closet. Natural light filters into every room. There are two outdoor patios offering space to lounge, dine and enjoy views of the Olympic Mountains, our gardens, and orchard. The bathroom has elegant limestone fossil tilework, and the kitchen/dining area is new and designed by cooks, for cooks. There is no indoor 'living room'. There is one (1) dedicated parking space and private access to your space by a path and steps (not handicapped accessible, sorry!) We have a cart for carrying luggage and are happy to assist. Sitting area in the orchard for sunset viewing and fresh vegetables from our seasonal organic garden may be available. A short walk connects you to community trails and a stroll through a neighboring vineyard (wine tastings too!). We're close to Rollingbay, parks, and yoga classes: mid-island gives you easy access to everything! We live in the main part of the house and love to share our home and island. We'll meet you upon arrival, and are available as needed during your stay. We respect your privacy. We have provided maps and notes of local places to see or enjoy. Hike and bike the trails just outside the door. Fay Bainbridge Park, Bloedel Reserve, and Bay Hay—a local icon with coffee, gifts, and locally sourced groceries—are all nearby. Downtown Winslow and the Seattle-Bainbridge ferry are 10 minutes away. Just ten minutes from the Seattle ferry, car rentals, taxis and buses are available from the ferry station. Depending upon your arrival time, we can assist with information. Driving is simple - it's easy to find. Kitchen has the basics like spices, coffee, and home-made granola for your first morning. Laundry facilities are available upon arrangement. Also, during gardening season we close our driveway gate at day's end for the night to discourage munching deer. It's not locked. If you find the gate closed, just push it open, pass through and kindly re-close it. Thanks!

Apartment in Bainbridge Island
4.92 out of 5 average rating, 265 reviewsOlympic View Cottage by the Water
Spend lazy days on the deck as boats, seals, and herons pass by, or watch a film by the light of the wood-burning stove. Flowers, ferns, and a sparkling Tiffany lampshade add to the fresh vintage charm of this tranquil retreat with a pretty garden. The cottage features great western views of the mountains and water with spectacular sunsets, passing boats and wildlife watching. We see lots of birds including eagles, Great Blue Herons, kingfishers and hummingbirds as well as seals and otters who often play in the waters out front. Large windows and high ceilings create a light filled space that is both cozy and inviting. You will love staying here because of the great view and the cozy space. We just recently added a television with Amazon Fire so you can also just cozy up by the fire and watch a movie or a game! As often or as little as they want. Bainbridge Island — a 35-minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle — has great museums, shopping, and dining, plus lots of hiking trails and parks with beach access. Most guests have their own car, however Uber is available on the island as well as taxi service and Kitsap Transit makes stops at the top of our hill. There are several hikes in our neighborhood and we are less than a mile from Battle Point Park and the Grand Forest with excellent walking or biking paths. Bainbridge Island is an easy thirty-five minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle. There are several great museums on the island as well as in Suquamish. Your guide to Bainbridge Island
All About Bainbridge Island
Located off the coast of Seattle in Puget Sound, Bainbridge Island is a 27-square-mile city and island with a small-town atmosphere and big-time outdoor recreation with views of the Cascades. The island’s commercial hub is Winslow, where you’ll find inviting shops, cafes, and restaurants.
Bainbridge is also home to lovely parks, including the waterfront Fay Bainbridge Park where you can go beachcombing, and the Grand Forest, which offers miles of hiking trails through pristine woodlands. You can also head to the northern section of the island to visit the gorgeous botanical gardens at the Bloedel Reserve.
If you’d like to explore the area by water, you’ll find plenty of options for kayaking and sailing at Eagle Harbor. You can also head to the rocky Lytle Beach to take a dip into the Rich Passage, one of the warmest swimming spots on the island.
The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Bainbridge Island
Thanks to its moderate marine-influenced weather, there is no bad time to visit Bainbridge Island. The summer sees the warmest and longest days, which is nice if you want to explore some of the island’s hiking trails, including the Grand Forest Park Trail loop, or get out onto the water. This is a very popular time to visit, which is something to be aware of when booking your vacation rentals on Bainbridge Island.
Things are a bit quieter during the spring and fall, when the surrounding areas burst into a sea of colors as wildflowers begin to bloom, or when fall foliage turns the forest into a kaleidoscope of red, orange, and yellow. Things can get pretty cold and overcast in the winter, but this is a wonderful time to explore Bainbridge Island at its quietest. The weather can also be unpredictable at times, so you’ll want to dress in layers and bring some type of rain protection.
Top things to do in Bainbridge Island
Winslow
In Winslow, you’ll find several interesting museums, including the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Kids Discovery Museum, and the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum. There’s also a lively culinary scene here, where farm-fresh ingredients and locally grown products inspire the menus, along with a local brewery and winery. You can browse small shops selling locally made products here as well.
Japanese American Exclusion Memorial
This moving memorial commemorates the 276 Japanese American Bainbridge Islands residents who were relocated to internment camps during World War II. They were among the first people who were forcibly relocated, and the memorial follows in their footsteps as they made their way to the ferry that took them away from their homes. The memorial includes a stone and wood pathway featuring images of the local residents carved into wood, along with their names and ages.
Bloedel Reserve
This sprawling 150-acre botanical garden lies on the northern end of the island. It features beautifully manicured grounds complete with ponds, streams, walking trails, and a Japanese Garden. You can also wander through a moss garden, stone garden, and a rhododendron glen on the reserve.
