Places to stay in Algonquin Park

Places to stay in Algonquin Park
All that's missing is you and your favourite people! All set and ready to go, this water front cottage has everything you'd hope. Located only 30 minutes north-east from the heart of Dorset on beautiful Troutspawn Lake. A short, but beautiful 15 minute drive to Algonquin Parks west gate. Cottage living is easy, sneak away from reality and we're sure you'll fall in-love.
The cottage is water front with the best, most gorgeous views of the lake. 5 large Muskoka chairs on the large deck outside of the sliding doors directly off of the living room, with 3 more located on the dock for your enjoyment (pairs very well with your favourite beverage). The screened in gazebo on the lower deck is furnished with a 7-piece patio set. A private swim platform with ladder for easy access, or stick above the water in the canoe or kayaks. Paddles and lifejackets are available for you to use. The dock is large, large enough to store multiple jet skis or two boats if you so wish. A boat launch is located at the ‘beach’ on the lake just a short drive down the road. There's a horseshoe pit with 4 horseshoes and scoreboard for some friendly competition, as well as flat land for other lawn games. A large outdoor fire pit with three benches for night time bonfires and smores. Firewood included. A BBQ with propane is available for you to use or the option for charcoal BBQing. The beach on the lake is small with a sandy entrance, but mainly gravel on the shore. Tons of ATV trails are easily accessible right from the cottage main road. Also don’t forget your fishing poles and tackle box! We ask that you bring your own linens (towels, bed sheets, blankets and pillows). You’re welcome to use the washer and dryer in the cottage for laundering. A 32-inch tv with DVD player is located in the the main cottage, as well as a 32-inch tv in the bunkie with a DVD and VCR player. A library of DVD’s are available for your enjoyment. An outdoor/indoor bluetooth stereo system is an awesome added feature. You're able to play your music via bluetooth or tune in to the radio. The gravel driveway is large enough to easily park 4 trucks. The kitchen is stocked with any of the dishes, utensils, pots, pans, can/bottle/wine opener, etc., that you may need. Also furnished with a microwave, full size oven, convection oven, coffee maker, dish washer, full sized fridge with freezer, mini fridge and stove top. Cell phone reception in the area is minimal to none. We however have installed a cell-phone booster to allow for calls and text messaging within the cottage. This is a great opportunity to unplug and relax.
If your looking to skip on cooking one night, we highly suggest "Pizza on earth" for amazing woodfire cooked pizza. While you're in town you can count on the famous "Robinson Store" to have anything you're looking for, from groceries to souvenirs to hardware items. A handful of other well known delicious restaurants can be found within the vicinity of Dorset. The community that surrounds Troutspawn Lake is known to be unlike any other lake community. Many owners are original and it must be the water, because everyone is incredibly friendly.. even their four-legged furry friends who may pop by to greet you.

INSTAGRAM: @THEBIRCHWOODCOTTAGECO Inquire with any availability or property questions. Please note - the cottage is located off of a private road which is plowed regularly during the winter months, however it is very hilly. For this reason, we STRONGLY recommend bringing an all wheel drive vehicle/SUV. From October to the start of June, the dock is removed and placed in storage for the winter. The Birchwood Haliburton is nothing short of awesome. The interior of the property has been lovingly and thoroughly renovated to provide you with a true Boutique Cottage to enjoy in its entirety! We like to refer to Redstone Lake as the jewel of The Haliburton Highlands. The cottage is elevated and perched proudly to take advantage of the expansive long lake views. If you are looking for privacy, tranquility & relaxation, look no further! Boasting rich reclaimed elm wood flooring throughout, our 3 bedroom sanctuary comfortably sleeps 6 across three luxurious king beds. – all linens & towels are provided with compliments. The Birchwood features an open plan living area with a cathedral ceiling finished in pine and double height windows – the interior is flooded with natural daylight to make for a light, easy & breezy stay. The new gourmet kitchen comes fully equipped with all of the small & large appliances & utensils needed to create a delicious meal to share with family and friends. Basic spices, olive oil, tea & coffee are provided with compliments. There are two full bathrooms – one on the main floor and another one the second floor which acts as an en-suite with full washer and dryer. The three season screened in ‘Haliburton Room’ acts as the perfect rustic escape from those super warm summer days, or as an evening retreat to crack out the board games! Our expansive deck can be enjoyed all day long with beautiful lounging & dining furniture, gas BBQ, and a hot tub with views that are second to none! Just off the deck to the rear of the property, there is a fire pit to enjoy on those cooler evenings. Redstone lake is part of a 3 lake chain for miles of exploring and crystal clear water for swimming, diving, relaxing - you name it! Down by our beautifully natural and rugged shore line, we upgraded two decked platforms and added chairs for you to relax and soak up some Vitamin D. There is a 4 person Pedal Boat, two Kayaks and two Paddle Boards for you to use with compliments - 6 adult life jackets in varying sizes are provided, as well as two youth life jackets. There are approximately 120 steps through the beautiful forest to access the water front. The cottage is just minutes from the 80,000 acre Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve with its groomed hiking and biking trails and world-famous Wolf Observatory. Nestled deep in the woods, The Birchwood Haliburton is a pristine gem in the heart of Ontario's vacation paradise.
  • My husband and I plus the dog had the greatest three night stay at The Birchwood. Talk about the most stylish cozy cottage on the most private scenic setting. We walked for hours on the frozen lake with views of rolling tree lined hills everywhere. It's truly a winter wonderland. After our long days outdoors we had a wood burning fire and a hot tub to come home to. This cottage is a perfect getaway any season of the year. I highly recommended connecting with nature and being spoiled with top notch hospitality. An A++ for both. Thanks for a perfect getaway at your beautiful retreat The Birchwood Ryan and Blair, we look forward to returning.

  • This was hands down the BEST Airbnb experience we’ve yet to have. The space was more beautiful than the photos, and exceeded all of our expectations. Ryan was an amazing host, and really went above and beyond to accommodate us, and make us feel welcome and comfortable. Can’t wait to come back to The Birchwood during the summer, and to visit their new property when it’s ready in June 2020. Thanks again for everything!

    Kendal2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is absolutely stunning. The host Ryan goes above and beyond to make the place welcoming and comfortable. My family and I will definitely be returning in the future.

    Stephanie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly, it doesn't get better than this! Ryan & Blair go above and beyond on every level possible. The cottage itself is IMMACULATE and every detail has been meticulously thought out for maximum comfort an enjoyment. The level of quality, from the mattresses & lines to the amenities & decor, is extraordinary. When you combine all this with the location itself and the incredible views, plus hosts who really care and want to take good care of you, you understand why this place is such a hot ticket. We had an amazing stay and we can't wait to be back! Thank you Ryan & Blair for being such great hosts!

    Lauren2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place was outstanding and we had a wonderful time. A slice of heaven and so many personal touches that it was everything we could have imagined. We will be back again.

    Scott2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Haliburton Birchwood exceeded our expectations. What a fabulous location with top notch accommodations. The place was fully stocked. The kitchen had everything down to blenders and bakeware. Our family had such an amazing family day week. The winter setting and 5star cottage accommodations made our week perfect. We look forward to returning.

    Melanie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Welcome to an experience you shall never forget. The most scenic of Views from the Deck overlooking the Haliburton Forest & did you notice that while looking you could be soaking in an expertly maintaned Hot Tub? We came up for Valentine's with winter in full force and temperatures hitting Minus 33. This I would imagine be challenging to a Host to stay on top of his game to make sure everything is functioning in this climate and I can say everything was above and beyond our expectations and functioning perfectly. These guys are Pros with Hearts big gold with special touches you will have to see to believe. So glad to have been embraced by The Birchwood and all of the Lovley that comes with it. Book it and you will see. 🇨🇦 Team Birchwood 🇨🇦 Karen & Troy & Donovan 🐾

  • Ryan and Blair were the most wonderful hosts! Communication leading up to our stay was fantastic - they provided quick responses to all of my questions and also provided a welcome manual, which was very helpful. Upon arrival, we found a welcome note along with complimentary wine - a great personal touch that made us feel very welcome! We were also provided with complimentary coffee, tea and cold brew, which our group really appreciated. Ryan and Blair also had the fireplace going for us prior to our arrival, so the cottage was warm when we arrived. The cottage is beautiful, very clean and spacious (there were 6 of us and we were very comfortable). Many items that we would typically bring with us were provided - basic ingredients for cooking, cookware, beach towels, board games, etc. We enjoyed snow shoeing, ice fishing, tobogganing and frequented the hot tub. We all really enjoyed ourselves and would love to return next year. I highly recommend Ryan and Blair's place for a fun and relaxing getaway!

  • To Whitney & Kyle, Thank you so much for hosting us. We had such a wonderful time in your beautiful cabin. It is absolutely stunning and so cozy. We hope to come back soon! We appreciate your quick responses to our questions.

    Julia2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was so cosy! We came up to the area to intro skiing (Super close to Sir Sams) to our kids for March Break... but due to the Coronavirus & Social Distancing our plans quickly changed. This cabin was a great escape from the world right now. It is a well decorated, super cosy space with a spa like bathroom! It is located well, and is close to Haliburton and tons of amenities. Great wifi, tv options for kids. The property included lots of trails to hike and explore ... there were lots of animal prints around, so we know there are bunnies, deer, skunks and squirrels ... although we only saw the squirrels ... without two 5-year olds you’d likely see more. The kids enjoyed it inside & out, and especially liked roasting marshmallows over the fire outside!

    Melissa2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This space was the perfect relaxing getaway that we needed. Nice and quiet and surrounded by forest. The logging roads were great for snowshoeing as well

    Adam2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin is as advertised. Clean and well appointed. Communication was easy. Would recommend a stop at the Haliburton Brewing Co in Abbey Gardens. Nice folk and great brew. Rhubarb restaurant was also a nice find.

    Michael2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, chic cabin in the woods. Very clean with so many thoughtful touches. It made it very hard to leave when our weekend was over.

    Shelby2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Whitney & Kyle's. So relaxing and in the most serene setting. Who needs waterfront when you can have tranquility. The cabin is small but super cozy. We appreciate that the sheets and towels are provided as some other hosts ask that you bring your own. There's plenty of content on the Apple TV which we put to good use. If you do plan on cooking like we did quite a bit, do bring spices, cooking oil, coffee and sugar. Due to the size of the kitchen, there's only so much that can be stocked. It is a steep hill to get up to the cabin. It snowed quite a bit during our stay so, although, the driveway was sanded twice during our stay, we still struggled to get up the hill once and we were in an SUV with winter tires. I don't think it would be an issue in the summer or warmer weather though. Just plan your ride accordingly. The location couldn't be better. It's close to town, convenience store, lcbo and Sir Sam's Ski Resort literally 10-15 mins away. Even driving around the surrounding area, it was so beautiful with the snow. We loved it there and would definitely go back!

    Raxme2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a relaxing time and Whitney and Kyle’s lovely cottage. A great sense of privacy and still close enough to several amenities; making it feel like a home away from home.

    Jessica2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Cranberry Cabin. We arrived right at the conclusion of a very large snowfall, so it was an absolute winter wonderland! The access driveway had been plowed, the heat had been turned on and some local craft beer had been placed in the fridge for us. We felt welcomed and were immediately impressed. The cabin is situated on a private wooded hilltop with no neighbours in sight. The cabin is quaint and charming. It is well stocked and super clean. The hosts were responsive and timely in their communication with us. We would definitely stay here again in the future and recommend to others.

  • Lee’s cottage is in fact better in reality than in the pictures. The view is amazing from both upper level deck and lower level. It is quiet yet lively merged in the nature. The indoor decor is thoughtful, sophisticated and stylish at the same time. I can imagine how much fun it could be for summer activities. Definitely coming back!

  • Charlene and Brad are excellent hosts and great people! Both the River Cabin and Lake view cottage, which are in separate area's of the property, have spectacular views, are secluded and beautiful! You will have total privacy and feel like you are the only ones around as well as the ability to enjoy the space and your time there with the added comfort of knowing there is someone just a short scenic hike away if need be. With all the near by hiking trails and lake, we had plenty to keep us entertained and the cabin was a cosy, warm and romantic get away that we much needed. • The best Airbnb experience I've ever had! The most hospitable guests that genuinely want you to have the best time and go out of their way to make this happen. The accommodation is beautiful. The breakfast was incredible and the lake was stunning. Take me back!

  • Sandra & Dale are exceptional hosts. We truly felt like guests in their home. Their property is beautiful, relaxing and comfortable. From the moment we walked in the door they made us feel at home. The highlights of our trip were: paddling and swimming in the lake, conversing with Dale, Sandra and the other guests, & hiking in Algonquin Park. I was also very impressed with their knowledge of the area....from history lessons and suggestions of where to eat, hike, paddle and shop. The sign on their door truly captured our visit, "arrive as guests and leave as friends".

    Laura2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra and Dale are the best host you can imagine. They took care about us we have never seen before. We can strongly recommend to spend some days at their wonderful place, canuing, swimming, learning about the canadian way of living. Urs

Adorable 1 bedroom cottage in downtown Kearney on waterfront property. Lovely friendly neighbourhood. Restaurants and amenities within walking distance. Boat ramp for canoes or kayaks on property. Public boat launch nearby. Docking available on property. Beach nearby as well as trails. Small pets ok. Due to size of cabin, large pets would not be as comfortable as they should be on vacation

Pub across street, other great restaurants nearby as well as parks and beaches
  • We had a great weekend exploring Kearney, Algonquin and Arrowhead. Shannon’s little cottage was the perfect base camp. Cozy, clean and just around the corner from Main Street.

    Meredith2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our weekend away, very cozy as described. We used the stove, oven and pots/pan quite a bit for our meals and it worked great. The cottage is so cute and perfect for a couple. Beautiful spot to explore, we went for a drive and it was so lovely. Lots of trails nearby! We also really enjoyed the smart TV with Netflix. Bed is comfortable and lots of closet space. The general store down the road has everything you need like last min food items! Shannon is a wonderful host, responds quick and left us plenty of information about the town. The cottage is a 20 min drive to Huntsville, Arrowhead provincial park where we went tubing and skating. Loved it! 2.5 hours from Toronto.

  • Tricia's place was superb! It was very clean, nicely decorated complete with modern furnishings and fixtures. The grounds of the cottage are quite expansive and have something to keep everyone occupied. There is a campfire, kids area complete with basketball net and trampoline, various watercraft and the hot tub and sauna. It is only a short drive to the west gate of Algonquin Provincial Park where you can do a day trip and enjoy hiking and the bike trails. Some things to note: the host mentions that water at the cottage is not potable, so either bring bottled water to drink or use a portable water purification system. Also, keep the key with you. The door will automatically lock when the door closes unless you use the latch on the locking mechanism to keep it from locking. Tricia and her husband were excellent hosts; they were very helpful and responsive. You will not be disappointed with this wonderful lakeside retreat!

  • Amazing location and brilliant facilities provided. I stayed as part of a group of 4 and we had a wonderful time. I particularly loved stepping out of the lodge and within about 30 seconds, be off kayaking around the lake. The boys took to fishing from the canoe boat and I learnt how to light my first fire pit! All around amazing find!

  • A perfect hideaway to get away from it all! A really beautiful location with an amazingly well equipped kitchen (if you had a mind to do some baking you probably could!). Very cozy with the wood burning stove, and fantastic amenities with the hot tub, sauna and various watercraft. Really loved staying here surrounded by the lake, and would highly recommend!

  • This space is amazing! Everything you would want in a lakeside cottage! The lake is clean and beautiful, full access to canoes, paddle board, swim up dock, beach chairs, full kitchen nice sleeping arrangements. Toilets are outhouse style and it can get buggy. Otherwise the place is perfection. Great for families, friends, or a couple.

Summer Activities Algonquin Park: This beautiful park, which is located about 25 km from the cottage, stretches out over 7725 square kilometres of lakes, rivers, hills and forests. The best way to explore this rugged beauty is by canoe or foot. the park over 1500 km of canoe routes for both the novice and experienced. While hiking on one of the 14 day trails ranging from 0.8km to 11km you can view such things as Whiskey Rapids, abandoned railways and beaver ponds. Mining mountain bike trail is a moderately difficult trail through hilly hardwood forest with loops of 4.7km to 23km. For those who just want to enjoy the scenery and relax the park is a great place for swimming, wildlife viewing, fishing and picnics. There are three facilities within the Park that are worth visiting and they will introduce you to the human and natural history of the Park through exhibits, these are the Visitor Centre, the Logging Museum and the Art Centre. The WOLF HOWL should be on everyone's bucket list of things to do. Every Thursday evening in August, the evening begins at the Outdoor Theatre with a talk on wolf ecology. The Howl attendees receive instructions on event protocol before driving to the Howl site along Highway 60. Then the naturalist team make imitation howls to encourage the wolves to respond so you can hear their haunting harmonies. Note: Make sure it is happening before going to the park. Dorset Fire Tower The Tower is situated on a 500 foot peak overlooking dorset and Trading Bay. This 100 foot steel tower gives a wonderful view and an ideal spot to photograph. From late September to early October, the changing colour of the leaves is at its most beautiful. The view from the tower at this time if year is one you shouldn't miss. Ragged Falls A 400 foot cascade over falls and rapids, this is a spectacular place to take pictures. Located two miles east of Oxtongue Lake. Golf Courses The are four golf courses in the immediate area, Deehurst Lakeside and Highlands, Grandview and Huntsville Downs.
  • The boat house was such a cute place to have a relaxing wintery weekend! The location made for a good jumping off point to Algonquin and other attractions nearby to Huntsville. Our hosts took care of a small number of issues we faced related to the unexpected cold weather. Our only real disappointment was not feeling like we took full advantage of all the things available to us!

    Jennifer2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I begin to describe Dee and Doug's place? The pictures do not do this place justice. From the second we drove up to the property, we were met with the most beautiful view of the lake. The unique little space that was created above the boathouse is stunning. We absolutely enjoyed the back deck that looked out onto the water, the cozy fireplace , the whirlpool tub and the area in general. It was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Dee was of course there to greet us which was so nice. She showed us around the space and made us feel very at home and comfortable. She was quick to respond to any questions we may have had. It's in a great location, just a 10 minute drive from downtown Huntsville where you'll find quaint shops, cafes and restaurants. The scenery of being out there during Fall is breathtaking. We are so looking forward to going back there again. I can't say enough amazing things about this place! Thank you Dee and Doug!

    Natalie2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was so comfy and cozy with a spectacular view of the lake and the colourful trees, it made for a perfect weekend get-away to spend some quality couple time and admire the beautiful fall colours. The jacuzzi tub was a nice touch to relax and sooth our sore muscles from all the hiking and biking we did in Algonquin park. The cabin is exactly as it appears in the photos and it’s spotlessly clean. The towels were clean and fresh as were the sheets on the very comfy bed. We were very pleased with our stay in the cabin and we hope we can make it back next fall...and every fall after! I highly recommend this cabin for some couples ‘re-connect’ time and to get outdoors and take in the beauty of the Muskoka region.

    Kiersty2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Dee’s Lakeview Cottage is immaculate—total peace and tranquillity. My husband enjoyed the fishing from both the canoe and dock. We both loved relaxing on the upper deck overlooking the lake. We were also treated with the view of the Fall colours across the lake of Hidden Valley Ski hills. Every view was perfect.

  • Look no further, best Airbnb near Algonquin Park. If you are like us, looking for a private, quiet, clean, scenic cottage both close to Algonquin Park and Huntsville, this is the place. Host is extremely responsive, with great hospitality. This cute little cottage is right on the lake, with 5 star hotel cleanliness. More than plenty white soft towels are provided, which is not what you usually experience at Airbnbs. Whirlpool bathtub is a plus, especially after a day of hikes or drives. Will definitely come back!

We are located 10 minutes from the East Gate entrance of Algonquin Provincial Park. The apartment is downstairs (white double doors) with your own entrance and parking. Completely private with a fully equipped kitchen and your own bathroom.
Private apartment with parking and private entrance. Fully equipped kitchen with coffee maker and hot water kettle, no microwave, and a bathroom with shower. There is one queen bed and a pull out sofa available. Sheets, blankets and towels are provided for the bed only. Our water comes from our own well, so we ask you to be frugal with your water usage. Please bring your own sheets for the pull out sofa. The apartment accommodates 2 to 4 people or families with children, all are negotiable. We live upstairs on the main floor.
We are located 10 minutes from the East Gate entrance to Algonquin Provincial Park. The park offers about 15 interpretive trails along highway 60 and a vast backcountry for canoeing and camping and a lot of other fun activities to participate in. The town of Whitney is about five minutes from the apartment. Whitney offers two gas stations, a post office, a grocery store, a beer/liquor store and a couple of restaurants which serve alcohol. Please keep in mind that the grocery store has a limited supply and prices are often a bit higher than elsewhere. We recommend that you do you your shopping in one of the bigger cities you might be passing through. Also keep in mind that store hours and restaurants and gas stations close earlier in the evening in the fall/winter/spring time.
  • The Hide-Away was the perfect spot to call home for a few days of winter vacation! Nestled in the woods and a 10-minute drive to the park entrance this was such a fabulous quiet and relaxing base camp to come home to after our daily cross country ski adventures! The trails nearby and the hosts were wonderful! Also, there is a great trail that heads down to a lake area on the property, a plus for someone that travels with their dogs! Thanks for a great stay Mariska & Kirk!

  • This was our second February staying at this airbnb. We will without a doubt be back next year. The cutest place with everything you need for a relaxing getaway. We did 8 hours total of hiking during our couple days and it was phenomenal. Would highly recommend the Bat Lake Trail in Algonquin. All trails are just a short car ride away from their place too. Thank you Mariska & Kirk! Until next year! -Emily, Nick, & Duncan

  • Great stay and experience with Kirk and Mariska. They had excellent knowledge of the area and were extremely accommodating. Will be booking again next year.

  • This is a beautiful spot for a winter getaway. The Airbnb was so warm and spacious. It’s located a short drive from the Algonquin east gate so getting out to the trails is easy, and the trail on Mariska and Kirks property was a nice little hike to do if you didn’t want to commit to another day pass for Algonquin.

    Stephen2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect location for a weekend cross-country skiing in Algonquin park, proximity to the East Gate/Leaf Lake trails is spot on. Super friendly and very knowledgeable about all things Algonquin Park. We got lucky and had a nice big dump of fresh snow while we were there, beautiful.

    Robert2020-01-26T00:00:00Z

  • Such a nice little gem close to center of Huntsville and perfect location for our winter activity . It was five of us adults staying in this place over the weekend and we have absolutely great time. The the place is cute, spotless clean, with the good stuffed kitchen. We all enjoyed morning coffee. The beds are very comfortable and we had all good rest. Laura and her husband are very nice host, she was very responsive to all my email. We will definitely come back .

  • We spent two nights at Laura and Steve's home and had a great experience. They were accommodating hosts and the house set-up was perfect for our family with two young children. The location was awesome for spending time on the main street in Huntsville as well as a short drive to Arrowhead and Hidden Valley. I would definitely recommend staying here and would book the home again if we return to Huntsville.

    Trevor2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house had everything that we needed. It was super clean, cozy, and decorated nicely. The location is perfect for all the winter fun that Arrowhead Provincial Park offers. We will consider Salty Blue II for a summer stay.

Welcome to our Muskoka Retreat. The complimentary Provincial Park Pass can be used between check in and check out times. Our property is surrounded by trees, on 3+ acres of forested land. The guest house sits above a newly built detached garage (2019), which is only used for storage. The decor is fresh and intimate, with warm wood accents. Our home is 75 feet away, where we reside year round. The guest house has private access, via a set of outdoor stairs. There is a dedicated parking space.
The guest house is 650 sq ft, which includes a bedroom with a queen bed, a bathroom, and an open concept kitchen / living room with a queen size pullout couch, and a beautiful wood vaulted ceiling. The sliding glass doors open into the covered screened in porch where you can sit and relax with a coffee, or enjoy a meal . The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, convection toaster oven, double induction burners, toaster, kettle and coffee press. A private barbecue is also available on the lower patio. There is central heating and air conditioning. There is WIFI / fibre optic, and a 50" Smart TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime TV. There is also an HDMI cable to use for any of devices.
In the heart of beautiful Muskoka, you will find the quaint town of Huntsville, which is surrounded by lakes, forests and wildlife. We offer our guests the free use of our Provincial Park Pass to access Algonquin Provincial Park all year round, as well as Arrowhead Provincial Park which which is also open year round, but closes mid October to mid December. Both Parks are only a 15-30min scenic drive away and offer lakes, beaches, fishing and hiking trails in the summer months, and skating, tubing, snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter months. There is lots of opportunity to birdwatch and view wildlife, especially moose in Algonquin Park. Huntsville offers shopping, grocery stores, restaurants and entertainment, as well as local markets, and several beautiful locations to golf. We are located only 10 minutes from the town center, in a quiet neighborhood where all the homes have multi acre lots. It is a picturesque, rural setting surrounded by forest, wildlife and nature. While there are numerous lakes and beaches to pick from within a short drive, one of the nicest, Hutcheson Beach, is only 5 minutes down the road by car. Here you will find a large, sandy, shallow beach with plenty of shady areas. It is our favorite place to watch the sunset. It is also a great place to launch a boat, canoe or kayak, should you bring or rent one. We provide towels, beach chairs and a beach umbrella to make your beach experience great! Please note that in Muskoka, the month of June can produce black flies and mosquitoes. Mosquitoes linger into the month of July, mostly in the evening. Bug spray is recommended during these months. However, if the bugs are a nuisance, we have the fabulous screened in porch where you can relax and listen to birds by day, and wolves and owls by night.
  • Pam and Glenn were great hosts - very informative, quick to reply and overall extremely welcoming upon our arrival ! They have everything you could need for a private getaway ! Lots of board games, local restaurant/places to see recommendations, and a collection of local trail maps. Glenn’s chocolate chip cookies were absolutely DELICIOUS !! This was the perfect space to be “self-isolated” for the past 4 days !

    Emily2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing stay! Very clean and it was a beautiful warm place that easily felt like a home away from home. Pam and Glenn were amazing and worked diligently around the clock to make sure our stay was perfect! Even though we had a power outage they made sure they have a generator going to make sure we had power! 10/10 would recommend!

    Melissa2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The place was amazing! So stylish and very clean. Pam and Glenn allow you to use their park pass and also have things for you at home (fire pit, movies, snowshoes). They are both so thoughtful, with local recommendations as well as some homemade sweet treats they left for us! Another plus is how quick at replying they are if you need anything before or during your stay! I definitely recommend this airbnb!

  • This place was wonderful! Beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It is full of windows which brighten the space with natural light and let us see the undisturbed snow-covered trees around it. Pam and Glenn were gracious hosts who were knowledgeable of the area, and were very accommodating letting us check out a little later. Also the homemade cookies were a nice bonus touch. Thanks for having us!

    David2020-02-27T00:00:00Z

    Julia2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • By far the best Airbnb I've ever stayed at. Comfortable, clean (literally spotless), and oh so charming and homey. Ideal location as it is close to Huntsville and Arrowhead Prov. Park. The park pass included will save you daily entry fees. If you need a place in Hunstville, stay here. You will not regret it. I highly recommend their spot. Thank you Glen and Pam for hosting us!

Nestled in the pines on the Muskoka River is this cozy one-bedroom cottage, ideal for a couple’s retreat. Kick-a-root cottage offers the best of all worlds: it is relaxing, tranquil, and private, but you’re only a 10-minute drive from the Town of Bracebridge with unique shops, restaurants, groceries, and breweries, not to mention numerous tourist attractions. Marked trails are direct across the river. For more photos and information visit us on IG (at) kickarootcottage
Kick-A-Root is complete with a new dock, watercraft and lifejackets (kayak x2, with large boat launching facilities close by), bicycles, a firepit, a gas BBQ, two decks, (the back one ideal for yoga -we even have the mat, the front one to watch the sunset), two electric fireplaces, a new 40" flat-screen TV and movies. A pull-out couch is available if you want to bring a friend, or another couple with you. Kick-a-root is conveniently located on Muskoka River (there is a dead end dirt road that separates the front of the cottage from the waterfront), has recently been completely updated with new furnishings to reflect the true north, is clean and ready to enjoy.
With the town of Bracebridge less than 10 minutes away you can have the best of both worlds, quiet, relaxing river side or pop in to town to have a bite to eat or walk the historic streets. There's even a golf course right around the corner from the cottage. There is definitely something for everyone in "The Bridge". There are other cottages/homes on the street with us and on either side. A row of trees and shrubs seperate the property from the neighbours. There are no cottages in front or behind us.
  • Kick-a-root is a beautiful and cozy cottage! It was perfect for our new years getaway with our toddler and 2 pups. The check in process was very easy and we were surprised to find a welcome gift that even included toys for our dogs :) Mandie and David are awesome hosts, communication was great and the area was lovely, it felt like a winter wonderland.

  • Great place that’s super cozy, clean and serene. We stayed with our daughter and labradoodle and found it perfect. Very stylish decor and you constantly want to take photos everywhere! Very instagram friendly 😉 love the Muskoka River view and proximity to Bracebridge.

  • Thanks for making our mini vacation extra special. Arriving at night can sometimes be a challenge, but Kevo made it simple and easy. Not to mention the lovely note and gift for both us and Jester our senior greyhound. It was the perfect place for some rest and relaxation for us. Sparkling clean and cozy, and in a perfect location. You’re prompt responsiveness to any questions, and tips on what to do in area were greatly appreciated. Thank you both for sharing your little gem of a cottage with us. We most definitely will be back.

  • My wife and I were looking to get away for a weekend in Muskoka at a quaint cottage. We found Mandie & David's Airbnb and instantly booked the first available time. If you are looking for a beautifully decorated, clean and well maintained cottage you will not be disappointed. It has all the charm of a dreamy Muskoka cottage. Mandie and David were extremely easy to communicate with and were always available to answer any questions we had. The cottage sits on the Muskoka River so if you love kayaking, fishing or suping, you will not be disappointed. My wife and I are already planning our next visit. Thanks for a great weekend Mandie and Dave!

    Scott2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway cottage for a couple, the location is super close to the cozy town of Bracebridge, a town that just exudes Muskoka joie-de-vivre. The Cottage is located on the river, and has access to allow for kayaking and exploring. Full kitchen, spacious living areas make for a wonderful stay. Bring your camera because even in the November snow we found it simply gorgeous.

  • Spent the weekend at Kick-A-Root and was lucky to see the first snowfall of the season in this terrific setting. You’d be hard pressed to find a cozier, cleaner, more welcome get away than this little slice of Muskoka. With the river a literal stones throw from the front door and some great trails all around, the location is great. Mandie and David are perfect hosts. I can’t think of anything I would improve. I look forward to returning in warmer weather and taking advantage of the river. Oh, and Hudson, the neighbourhood greeter, really is a gentle giant.

Nestled on a double lot with over 200' of frontage on the big east river, this uniquely cozy cabin has everything you need to enjoy Muskoka and the great outdoors in style. The cottage comes equipped with a 4pc. bathroom, full kitchen, dishwasher, propane BBQ, 8'x 28' deck overlooking the river, smart TV, Wifi, basement rec-room, AC, and washer and dryer. Your hosts live down the street and are happy to help make the best of your stay.
In 2018 we met with our good friends Christina and Wyatt to view this property, we immediately saw what a sweet little getaway it would be for a family or for some pals needing some R&R in nature and we went about buying it that day. Then for the next year our builder- Serge, essentially REBUILT the whole cottage (he has some great stories about the unique features the original cottage had, you can ask us!) and we dreamt up what we would want the cottage to feel like when we walked in the door. We envisioned a modern clean feel, tying the wonders of nature wherever we could. We wanted to portray how cozy and quiet it can be in the colder months, with all the wonders of winter activity just outside the door. AND how vivacious and bright it is in summer months, with hours of fun on the lazy river in sun, peaceful walks in the woodlands, evening cocktails on the deck or the fire pit gazing at the stars through the towering pines. which is how we came up with our (work-in-progress) name - Whispering Pine-apple.The sounds of the pines as the wind blows through is enchanting, and our crazy bright pineapple yellow cottage that we hope will breathe joy into the days spent here.
This cozy cabin is on a private, dead-end, gravel rd. and feels very private thanks to lots of tree cover and adjacent lots being vacant. 4 min drive to Arrowhead Provincial park and Nordic Centre, 10 min drive to historic and scenic downtown Huntsville and 40 min drive to Algonquin park. Great swimming hole right in front on property and
  • Our recent stay at whispering Pine-Apple was amazing. We went up so we could make us of Arrowhead, and weren’t disappointed - it was only minutes away. After hiking trails, all day, we really enjoyed relaxing at the cottage with a beautiful view seen through the large patio door. We made use of everything the cottage had to offer - outdoor fire pit, movie access, very comfortable living and sleep accommodations - I can say enough good things about this cottage. We were in touch with one of the hosts (Kacey), and she was very accommodating, and great with communication. We hope to be back soon!

  • My partner and I stayed here in February, and it was amazing. The place was clean and warm, large tub, close to town, Kasey was easy to communicate with and quick to respond. The pictures are amazing, but we were blown away when we arrived. We would recommend this space to anyone, and hope to visit again in the warmer months.

  • Highly Recommend - Karen and John were wonderful hosts. They met us for the check-in and gave us a tour of the RV which was helpful because we had not stayed in an RV before. The RV itself is just as described, beautifully appointed, sparkling clean and On the Lake!!. It had all the facilities that made our stay comfortable - heat, running hot water and well equipped kitchen. The park pass that was provided came in handy and helped save us $20 per day. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and will surely be back next year!!

  • John's collection of cottages are quiet, clean, and have spacious beds. The Adventure Lodge is very near the entrance to Algonquin Park situated as described-on a beautiful and private lake. The whole place made us feel at ease. Ken in particular was very nice and easy to talk to. All of the food was prepared with care and delicious. We will definitely come again!

  • Upon arrival, 18:30, both myself and my girlfriend were greeted by Ken who made an excellent dinner at the main building for both of us. We then proceeded to our cabin which was spacious, clean, and even had a jacuzzi in it. During our 5 day stay it was quiet and peaceful. A great getaway for a couple. Ken was great to talk to and and gave us tips and suggestion as to what and where to explore in the area. Thanks for great time

Algonquin Park - Whitney, ON, Canada

The cozy 1 room Bunkie with a large deck, sits atop a boathouse overlooking the Madawaska River. Inside the Bunkie is like a small cabin, behind is an outdoor summer kitchen with amenities. A bathroom with shower is inside the main house a few steps from the Bunkie - this is shared with guests in the Algonquin Riverside Terrace Listing. On the property there is a Dock, River Deck, Fire Pit, and an Orb oasis. Guests must be able to use stairs to access the various areas of the property.
On the shore of the Madawaska River and approximately 3 kilometers to the east gate of Algonquin Park
The village of Whitney has a drug store, grocery store, liquor store, the Mad Musher Restaurant, the Algonquin Lunch Bar, Chris's Diner and Pizzeria, the Menwatay gift shop as well as two gas stations. The Opeongo Outfitters shop for canoe and kayak rentals is close by. There is a public boat launch and a public beach within the village.
  • Amazing hosts in a great location just on the outskirts of Algonquin Provincial Park. The Bunkie is the perfect place to spend the night after exploring the park during the day. Everything is there that you could need for preparing food in the evening and that would be recommended as there is limited options close by to go for dinner. All in all this place is for the smart people.

    Matt2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Merna and Barney are very nice hosts who responded promptly, prepared everything we need for our staying, and even provided us the park pass, which is a plus. We enjoyed their beautiful riverside estate very much. Our sightseeing started when we woke up in the morning. We managed to share the bathroom with another couple without problem.

    Jay2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very close to the east gate of Agangkun Park, the landlord is very enthusiastic. Barney gave us a detailed introduction to the location and usage of all the facilities, as well as a tour card to and from the Agangkun Park. Merna taught us how to use the washing machine and dryer, it is really very nice. We rented a room with two beds, the room was very warm, and it can be seen that the owner is very emotional. Very good experience.

    Yiping2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at the little bunkie on Merna's and Barney's property. Everything was exactly as described in the information. Plus there are many little details that make your stay even more perfect and provide you with everything you might need during your stay. Merna and Barney are wonderful hosts that really make you feel welcome. We travel a lot and have already seen a few Airbnbs. This one was definitely one of the best we have stayed in so far.

    Daniela2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • If you are traveling to Algonquin, this is the best place Merna & Barney is your best host to create precious memories. If we travel here again, we must I wish you good luck to stay here.

    명철2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house of Merna and Barney is just beautiful, from the outside, as from the inside. It lacks nothing, you have thought of everything, coffee maker with pads, toaster, grill, dishes, etc. The cottage (on the left in the photo) is warm, even in October, only at -2 °, the outdoor kitchen is something for nature boys but everything is there too. The house is not far from the park. We got a lot of tips the two. The two are so warm, you just have to like them. We would come back anytime

    Doris2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Merna and Barney's and it didn't disappoint. Perched on the water with a beautiful deck, clean, comfortable accommodations, and great hosts -- what could be better. I wish I was there again right now!

  • Marna and Barney are very special people. They own a beautiful house near The Algonquin Park so it’s very easy to get there. The hosts are The kindest, Barney took us canoing in the morning along the lake and it was really a magical experience. We warmly recomand their place!

    Whitney, ON, Canada

The house is nestled among Maple trees 5km from Algonquin Park. My guests are usually spending their days in Algonquin Park as there is so much to see and do. Everything in the Village of Whitney is within walking distance. People describe this space as very soothing and relaxing. A good place to regroup on your travels or after a day spent in Algonquin Park. The main floor has 2 bedrooms for guests and 1 bedroom for family or friends visiting. I live in the basement apartment.
I rent two bedrooms on the main floor, each with a Queen Bed and Netflix TV. The bathroom has a jacuzzi bathtub, so bring some Epsom salts for a relaxing bath after a day of hiking. The bathroom, kitchen and living room is shared. All the bedrooms have a lock and your name is posted on the door. I live in the basement apartment and have a separate entrance.
I love that this street is quiet, you can walk on trails right behind the house or go to the lake to watch the sun set or rise. The beach is only 2km away and has a lovely view of sunsets. My neighbours are all friendly and private at the same time. I live on a peninsula surrounded by Galeairy Lake but I am on the hill amongst Maple trees. The lake is 11km long and 80% of it is in Algonquin Park. There are many interior camping sites on this lake and on an unoccupied one you can stop for a picnic. If you want to go canoeing on Galeairy Lake you can drive right up to the docks about 2km away. Make reservations with (URL HIDDEN) (URL HIDDEN) is the place for whitewater rafting tours and is a 45 minute drive from here. The village is within a 10 minute walk. most stores are open until 6pm. Longer during the summer season.
  • Great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors

  • Evelyne is truly a super host! One of our best experiences yet! From check-in to checkout 😁 If you are going to Algonquin this is the place to stay... A short drive to the parks east gate entrance.. we have stayed in other accommodations when traveling to Algonquin and this is by far the best.. you have a full kitchen so there is no need to eat out and it offers all of the comforts of home! Netflix in your room, cable in the living space and a warm shower after a long day of hiking!

  • Wow!It just like staying at a luxury resort. We had a wonderful time at this beautiful cottage. It was absolutely perfect holiday we feel after one week long stay. The cottage is far enough away from the main road, but just located the side of the lake with great views. The bed are so comfortable and we had great sleeping every nights. Cooking in the kitchen with top range appliances is a pleasure. The spacious outdoor cedar deck has a comfort sofa for sunshine afternoon tea and lovely table for dinner with nice sunset lake view. Specially the quality of toiletries at bathroom are even higher than in high star hotel. We enjoy the staying at this wonderful place and very appropriate to the Host-Snez!

    Jianfen2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our week long stay was more than “Just Right” - it was absolutely perfect (weather included). The cottage is so fresh and clean and comfortable. The decor is new and modern but still has that cozy cottagey feel. We were impressed with the extras provided. The kitchen is fully equipped, the spa-like bathroom is complete with toiletries and robes, and even blanket wraps are provided when sitting outside on these now crisp fall mornings and cooler evenings. The upper deck and dock are large and new with perfect seating arrangements for just enjoying the gorgeous lake views and changing colours of the trees. Every detail to make ones stay enjoyable and comfortable has truly been thought of. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to enjoy your little slice of paradise at “Just Right”.

    Don2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome stay! A very well appointed cottage, on a beautiful lake!

    Ulrica2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you want luxury book “Just Right”, this property far by exceeded our expectations, from walking in and being met with a beautiful clean smell and being exceptionally well cleaned (and I’m fussy!) We had the most relaxing stay, we loved the comfy beds and fluffy towels. The kitchen had everything you may need. Then the outside space was fantastic and well maintained. As a family with young children (3 and 6 years old) we really appreciated the use of a washing machine and dryer. Any questions we had before and during our stay were answered quickly. Thank you for everything.

    Rachel2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I just returned from our second visit to Just Right. We had a wonderful time again at this beautiful cottage. Every detail is thought out to make the visit enjoyable for the guests. Since we visited last year, they put in new kitchen appliances, a laundry room, and a new deck. Cooking in the kitchen is a pleasure with everything you could possibly need. We took advantage of the kayak, paddle board, and canoes each day. The beds are so comfortable and we had great sleeps after being on the dock all day. It was a pleasure to visit and hope to return in the future. Beautiful cottage on beautiful lake.

    Nancy2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is amazing. Do not hesitate for one minute to book it. The cottage was spotless when we arrived. Snez has left beautiful toiletries (like a hotel), clean robes and slippers. The dock has sun all day, there are toys for the lake, and the outdoor furniture is gorgeous. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the upper deck on the very luxe outdoor couches. It’s about 30 min to Haliburton if you feel like getting out for an hour or two. I can’t review this cottage highly enough. It’s modern but still cottagey. Book it!!! Oh and we were one couple, our 6 month baby and our nanny. Lots of room and privacy with the bunkie.

    Adena2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Heaven - "Just Right" really does describe this property. Far enough away from the minor road, far enough away from the lake side, secluded yet with an intriguing view through the pines to the lake, ample accommodation for a family of 4, multiple dining options - inside, on the balcony or down by the lakeside on the deck. Really thoughtful equipping - a kitchen with top range oven/hob & combi-microwave, fridge and (a personal bug-bear) wonderfully sharp knives for food prep. A good sized bathroom decked out like a spa - wash away the lake water in the shower or luxuriate in the bath. For leisurely days reading by the lake to more active days exploring the multiple lakes in the provided kayak, canoes and paddle board this place caters for all. With all this on offer it is difficult to think about venturing far but Snez highlighted the local attractions to us - we enjoyed the Husky cuddling session, we were transfixed by the Wolf enclosure and we had planned to do more at the Haliburton Forest reserve - just couldn't drag ourselves away from Just Right anymore. Cannot exaggerate how wonderfully relaxed we found ourselves at the end of our stay - no mean feat considering we've a 15 yr old boy and an 18 yr old girl with us. We all agreed that this was the best airbnb we have stayed in to date. Thank you so much Snez & Voja, we so hope to be back!

    Claire2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay with our family. The location is breathtaking. The lake water around the dock was weed free and great for swimming. We enjoyed the paddle board, kayaks and canoes daily. The cottage is sparkling clean, with high quality furnishings and touches. You can tell the hosts put a lot of care into making sure their guests are very comfortable during their stay. We highly recommend!

  • This was the perfect winter getaway for our group of friends. Then place was absolutely beautiful and exceeded expectations. The cottage was very spacious and offered many indoor/outdoor amenities. Amanda and Ping were very approachable and responded to messages in a timely manner. Thank you for the hospitality, we all very much enjoyed our stay ! I highly recommend renting this space. Dillon and Friends

  • We had a wonderful stay ! This cottage is very spacious, clean, warm and welcoming! The beds were all very comfortable. This is a great place to accommodate a large group, we never felt like we were bumping into each other. We loved the hot tub, sauna, pool table and air hockey after a day of snowmobiling. The cottage is so close to the snowmobile trail ( approximately 50 meters from the driveway). The hosts were very quick to respond to any questions that we had. The fresh yummy cookies and the the welcoming sign was a nice touch. We would totally recommend this beautiful cottage and wonderful hosts

    Stephen2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Large, comfortable house in a nice quiet, wooded area. Hot tub and sauna were nice touches, as was the outdoor firepit. Suggest to bring your own firewood as most of the logs provided were difficult to split with an axe and were fairly wet. Ours was a winter stay (first week of Feb.) and we were hoping to skate and ice fish on the lake directly in front of the cottage. However, there was quite bit of open water as there is a nearby current feeding into the dam, so we didn't chance it. The air hockey and pool table located downstairs provided good entertainment. I would definitely recommend this cottage.

    Bruce2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, very large, great outdoor space and amazing hosts. We will definitely be going back. Thanks for a great experience, ladies!!

    Rachel2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great experience staying at Ping & Laura's cottage. From the friendly and helpful back and forth before the trip to the lovely welcome message, everything was wonderful. The cottage is very large but still maintains that cozy feel. All the amenities were fantastic from the hot tub to the game room to the indoor fireplace. There was so much to do I felt like I needed a longer stay just to take advantage of them all. I visited in the winter time and the snow covered scenery was beautiful.

    Steven2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • ing was amazing, she replied within minutes, answered all my questions! Our checkout date we got alot of snow and was unsafe to drive, ping understood and told us to stay safe and stay inside until the snow plows come through and clear the roads up, for no extra charge she was just amazing! Highly recommend and will be going back again!

    Safak2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is huge, way bigger than we expected. Lots of room to spread out. The hot tub and sauna are great to enjoy some time with friends. And the large variety of board games meant the fun didn’t end. Looking forward to visiting again, Ping and Laura are amazing hosts!

    Raj2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ping and Laura were great hosts - quick, helpful and very responsive. The space was larger than we thought it would be - the high ceilings really opened the space up. There were nice touches like a variety of board games, a fully stocked kitchen with all of the drawers labeled for easy navigating, and the game tables in the basement kept us entertained. The hot tub, dry sauna, and fireplaces were just what we needed for a cozy winter getaway. There were 7 of us, but there were enough beds and space for way more. Definitely wished we could have stayed for longer than just a couple of nights!

  • Sylvia and Dariusz’s cabin is clean, stylish and well-equipped, with lots of modern amenities. It was perfect for our family of 3, but could easily accommodate 5. We really enjoyed using the two kayaks — the river is beautiful and slow moving, and easy to navigate. Thanks for a nice getaway!

    Natasha2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Loved my stay at this little cabin. Perfect views from the kitchen and bedroom out onto the river. I spent most of my time on the back deck reading a book. Sylvia and Dariusz were there for check-in and quite accessible during the stay as they have a cottage on the joining property. The cottage is tucked away just enough from the city, but close enough to drive in for things such as groceries. A real beautiful, cozy gem!

    Trish2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I have done 12 cottage roadtrips in Ontario in the last 4 years. This was our favorite experience by far. Sylvia and Dariusz's cottage is located right on the quiet shore of a beautiful, clean river that feeds into a large lake down stream. It is in the middle of a forest and is surrounded by a community of other large cottages. The just-renovated cottage is very clean and spacious. There is a deck and a BBQ with a serene view of the river and the forest. In the backyard, there is a spacious fire pit with muskoka chairs. We listened to music throughout the whole long weekend by the fire and grilled all our meals on the BBQ. Sylvia and Dariusz live close by, and were available for any questions we had. They were also so kind to offer us their kayaks, which we took down the river and into the lake when we weren't swimming. Overall, the pleasant hospitality was very warming and the cottage house was the cleanest and best we've ever seen. Thank you Sylvia and Dariusz - we really appreciate the experience!!

Rewind to the 1980s cottage lifestyle at our retro camp! Ours is a social, adult atmosphere meant for people who want simple, quirky accommodations. Everything here is retro, so be prepared for a rustic experience that's not got a lot of modern amenities. If you're not into the rustic vibe, we might not be the best place for you. If you're into analog media, socializing with other like minded folks, music, and offbeat accomodations, then this is the place for you.
Welcome to Camp Bongopix! We have 5 retro cabins, this one is "MewTwo Cabin." MewTwo is on the Madawaska River in Whitney. You can canoe into Algonquin Park from the dock! Many hiking trails nearby. RETRO TREASURES! The cabin has: VCR/VHS, cassettes+BoomBox and Super Nintendo. BBQ, bring your own charcoal, we supply fire starter. Private toilet/shower, full kitchen (pots, pans, utensils, stove, fridge, toaster, coffee-maker, kettle). It's important to note that this cabin has a bathutub only - there's no shower head in here. Perfect for a soak after a long day of hiking in the park. 1 bedroom/1 queen bed. Towels and bedding provided. This is a retro camp - NO WIFI. Warning: LOUD MUSIC, cannabis, tobacco, and alcohol. Due to our liquor license, all overnight guests must be 19+. • Our stay at Bongopix and Mewtwo cabin was great. It's got everything you need, was warm and cozy, comfy bed, and we had a lot of fun with the cassette collection on a rainy day. The location is excellent for accessing the hwy 60 for Algonquin. A really nice place!

  • Camp Bongopix is an absolute gem situated just outside Algonquin. We came in for Thanksgiving to escape the city and get back to our roots, and this did the trick. When we entered the cabin, we were flooded with memories of simpler times: VHS, cassette tapes and campfire songs. Bongo and Andrea were amazing hosts, giving us the scoop on some local trails. We really dug the vibe and energy, especially on Saturday! We loved sitting on the porch listening to the jamboree. What an amazing experience!!!

We highly recommend this to everyone!!! Amazing getaway to relax and just enjoy the great views it has to offer. Thanks again guys for having us!!!

  • We had a great time in the Retro Hut, it feels like back in the 90s :-) Great cassettes and great movies on VHS ;-) The accommodation is perfect for a trip to Algonquin Park and if you need peace and quiet from the big city. The East Gate of the park is about 10 minutes. by car.

    Carina2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Always a good time at bongo and Andreas!

    Anthony2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Bongo is very nice and funny guy. The cottage was clean and cosy, equipment worked well and the retro style was absolutely relaxing (we loved watching the old Disney videos on VHS!!). Nice veranda included. Free canoe usage on the lake (directly next to the cottage, 10 meter walk). Supermarket and gas station within 2 minutes by car or 10 minutes walk.

  • Darrell's place is great. Location is beautiful and the cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We had so much fun taking out the kayaks and using the fire pit by the lake. The wood burning stove keeps the whole cottage nice and warm. Great value for money and would highly recommend!

Our garden home is south facing letting tons of light into the home. The home is located in Huntsville’s downtown area. It sits beside a town walking path and has a very large, fenced-in back yard garden area. The owners of the home plant a large organic vegetable and flower garden in the backyard every spring. The home backs on to hiking and snowshoeing trails. Sip you coffee on the couch while watching the deer in the yard.
*PLEASE NOTE: The upstairs bedroom is a loft which looks down over the kitchen. *PLEASE NOTE: it is an older house so it has a cabin feel to it. Although it was recently renovated and everything is new inside. *PLEASE NOTE: We are at the top of a hill looking down over the town. Huntsville gets a lot of snow. The town ploughs our street first and we have someone who ploughs our driveway but you may still consider a vehicle with snow tires. Walk downtown and get a coffee or groceries. Five minute drive to the highway where you can access Hidden valley and Arrowhead park in less than 10 minutes. Also, the place feels like a cabin in the woods, but in downtown Huntsville. The house has a wood stove but it is not available for people to use due to insurance purposes.
  • Jenny's space was great, cozy and well equipped. Communication throughout was top notch. Hope we can visit in warmer weather when the garden is in full bloom.

    Roger2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay, the house was very clean, quiet and comfortable with everything we needed for cooking and cleaning. Jennifer was a great host, always quick with a response if I had any questions. I would definitely recommend this pad!

    Ryan2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place for a winter getaway! Looks just like the pictures.

    Samuel2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny and Oliver are amazing hosts and are quick and easy to communicate with. The airbnb was very clean, super cozy, romantic, and beautiful (the natural lighting from the floor-ceiling windows was gorgeous). The location is great as well if you want to do excursions at provincial parks such as Arrowhead and Algonquin. Perfect for a weekend getaway and highly recommended for couples.

    Erika2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in town close to all retaurants/bakeries/shopping/etc. <30 min drive to skating/snow shoeing/hiking/fat biking in Arrowhead/Limberlost Forest/Bracebridge. Backyard looks out into the bush with trails for walking/snow shoeing without ever having to leave; also for simply sitting ay dreaming. Lots of space whether you are a couple or sharing with friends; a huge kitchen/island with a whole wall of windows to take advantage of the back yard. Jennifer is very helpful with local tips, asked to ensure we had all we needed and responded quickly to any inquiry. Did I mention the deer visits most dusk/dawns. Boggles my mind why people choose high rise hotels when spaces like this are available - all the better for us!. Try Jennifers Family Restaurant for beakfast before heading out for the day. Town has brew pubs/high end restaurants/pizza/Thai/Indian/sports bars/bakeries/coffee...something for everyone.

    Doug2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and cozy place! Central in Huntsville and close to downtown makes it a perfect spot. Great for a weekend getaway or longer. Would definitely come again!

  • Pictures don't do it justice, such a beautiful little home in a perfect location. Everything we needed was in the house (coffee, creamer, towels, and plenty of extras of everything), and she even left a few notes with local tips! I'll definitely be keeping this place in mind for my next trip away. Amazing stay!

Minutes to Algonquin Park, Edgewater Park Lodge's public restaurant "Red Canoe", Spicoli's Pizza in Emsdale, as well as local pubs in Kearney. Corner store, LCBO, and gas available in Kearney. The town of Burk's Falls is just 15 minutes North, and Huntsville is 30 minutes South.
  • We decided to do some last minute social distancing at this beautiful cabin with a spectacular view. We found it especially nice in the winter with the sauna and woodstove. The hill up (and down ;) to the cabin is no joke when it is icy, so make sure you have good boots. Happy bonuses included a well-stocked kitchen (including microwave, coffee maker and toaster), bathroom with great water pressure and lots of hot water, and the fire going in the woodstove when we arrived. We would love to come back.

    Jessica2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a great get-away! This was absolutely perfect for a quiet stay with family. The house is small, but spacious, with everything we needed to be comfortable, prepare our meals, and just relax. I loved that the location is tucked away with a fantastic view, and some nice trails to explore. Having the sauna right by the house was a real treat as well. I'd definitely recommend this for a quiet retreat.

    Jennette2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Charlene's place was great. Its located on top of the hill. No neighbors at all. We used sauna and had a great time. If you have a dog, watch it closely as coyotes come. Also, we regretted not to have a slage on us:-) We parked and had to go up to a hill. Made two trips. However its not a big deal when you can feel the ground. Upon departure, it was raining and the hill became a skating ring. We literally had to get on our fours in some points not to slide down. Maybe salt will help? BUT It was fun! Anyway we are spreading the news of this cool place and hopefully our friends can make it. 5 out of 5!

  • This last minute getaway with my fiance and doggo was beyond our expectations. Nestled on top of a hill overlooking Sand lake & beautiful forests this was the cabin we were looking for. So peaceful and tranquil, complete eye candy inside and out. The fireplace was burning some wood as we entered to this warm space. The rustic wood interior was so pleasing to be in. We spent the afternoon cooking, going for walks in the snow and sitting by the fireplace. The comfy bed reassured a good night's sleep as well. Would love to come back once the weather is warmer to see how it is under all the snow.

    Mariya2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very happy staying here! Love the cabin and the property. Beautiful to walk around. It’s our second time and we’ll definitely be back!

    Chris2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Charlene's and Brad's cabin was a little slice of heaven. Located on top of the hill offered a stunning view of the lake and endless treeline. Their cabin offered a cozy woodsy feel that made it the perfect getaway. Immediate access for snowmobiling made this cabin the ideal location. Charlene greeted us with a quick response time and a clean space, made us feel very welcome and made the experience that much simpler, Fantastic hospitality. Pictures do not do this place justice, will def be back to create more memories here at Lakeview Landing. Make this listing a "must visit" on your list of getaways :)

    Ashley2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Charlene & her husband were super accommodating and very quick to respond. The views from the cabin were breath taking, and the space was very cozy. Very much enjoyed staying here & would recommend it to anybody!

  • It was very lovly on Lisa's place. She give me some good tips and was always very friendlich and take care about you. I spend one week there and it was a perfect stay to come down and enjoy the Park.

  • Awesome space near the Algonquin park. Lisa was very friendly and had good advices for the length of our stay. It felt familiar coming home to the woodstove and cute Sunny, after day trips. Thank you :)

  • Nice place with cozy wood stove. Would recommend for a stay close to Algonquin park. Lisa was very friendly and helpful.

  • Lisa is very good at communicating. We arrived later than we thought we would, but we texted her and she was waiting for us to arrive when we did. She was very nice and the space was very clean. I’ve never been to an Airbnb that included a breakfast and it was a great touch! My partner and I enjoyed playing with Sunny (her guinea pig) and maintaining the fire in her wood stove. The only thing I didn’t love about Lisa’s place was the washroom because the toilet and sink are in two separate rooms but she’s renovating it soon! I would recommend this space if you’re going to Algonquin park. Lisa has many recommendations of trails and even provided us with a park map. She also rents skis and snowshoes. Great price for a wonderful place! Thanks so much, Lisa!

  • Lisa’s house was very warm and she was very welcoming. She went above and beyond to suggest us good trails to go on. She even put the wood stove on so that we could come back to a warm house. She showed us around on our last day and it was a great experience overall.

  • Great place to stay. Short drive to the x-country skiing trails at Leaf Lake in Algonquin. Bongo lives close to the cabin and was available whenever we needed anything. The cabin is as advertised - a quirky 80s vibe. Really fun. The kitchen had what we needed for making meals. We would definitely go back.

    Gavin2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Well equipped kitchen, good beds and shower. The retro (aka 'old') theme is everywhere and might not appeal to everyone.

  • The Laker cabin hosted 6 of us without a hitch! Super easy check-in, we were unpacked and settled in minutes. The cabin has lots of great features to explore, we had fun with the game cube and VHS collection after a long day of hiking. Located within walking distance of the grocery store, restaurants and the LCBO and perched just on the edge of Algonquin park it is the perfect spot to access plenty of day hiking trails. Bongo and Andrea are fantastic hosts, super friendly and happy to recommend the best spots in Algonquin. Also be sure to attend a jam night at the lodge!

  • This is a nice, cozy cottage for two couples. It has everything you need. It's close to Algonquin Park and Galeairy Lake for summer and winter outdoor activities. Recommended!

  • This was our second visit to Camp Bongopix and I have to say that both times it was such a great place to stay. The retro movies and video games as well as the Saturday evening jam session are well worth the trip and just add to all the wonderful things to do in Algonquin Park! Bongo and Andrea were great hosts and couldn't have been any nicer to us!

    Stephanie2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was the perfect place to stay for a winter weekend and in a great location too - right beside Algonquin park
