National Park
“Mljet is an island visible in the distance from our terrace. It is a perfect outpost for a day trip since it is home to one of the most beautiful national parks in Croatia. Two lakes with crystal clear waters surrounded by pristine nature and lush pine forests are perfect place for total relaxation. There are two ways to get there; 1. take a speed boat from the Dubrovnik port (line Dub rovnik - Polače). It will get you directly to the park from where you can rent a bike or walk to explore around. 2. drive to port of Prapratno, around 40 minutes drive from Brsečine from where you get on a ferry that will drop you in Sobra, central port of Mljet from where you need to drive to the park itself. On the plus side from option 1, you can see more of the island and its beautiful villages and untouched nature. Tips: - if you have time, be sure to visit beach Saplunara on the far east of the island, it is a beautiful sandy beach like no other in the area - if you are a good swimmer don't miss on trying to swim in a strong current that connects the two lakes -the ticket is 125kn per person (as of 2020), don't miss a boat ride to the small island in the middle of the lake since it is included in the price. There is an old monastery with a restaurant there but the peace and the quiet atmosphere by the sea is not to be missed - if you are coming by car, we recommend eating in the village of Pomena; you have a much better choice than in other places in the park”

Park
“Just 2 km south of Brsečine, on the road to Dubrovnik, there is a picturesque village of Trsteno, most famous for its arboretum from 15th century – one of the oldest of its kind in the world! Arboretum is type of park specialized in trees of all kind – and this one has a lot of them. Most of the species were brought in Trsteno through recent centuries by local sailors from all over the world making the park unique in its mix with local Mediterranean trees. The most unique of them are two gigantic sycamore trees, more than 450 years old and around 50m tall. Situated in the centre of the village, near the village’s only restaurant, their shade is a good both starting and finishing point for visiting the park. Apart from lush gardens and trees, arboretum also hides beautiful renaissance summer mansion and fountain making the scenery even more interesting. Visiting during the hot summer days is especially rewarding due to many shady paths which make to peaceful and charming atmosphere of the park. Its beauty was recognized even by the film makers; some scenes in popular TV series „Game of thrones” were filmed there. ”

“Just a few kilometars from the city center, with the fragrant air of pines and sea salt, you'll find yourself in a quiet corner of your body and soul. Hiking trails and forest paths at every turn will reveal some interesting flora and fauna, with breathtaking views of the city or the nearby Elafiti Islands. The high and dense pines of the pine trees pierce the sun's rays, revealing where each path takes you.”

“Only a 15 minute boat ride from Dubrovnik old town, this small island is a gem well worth visiting. Great views in every direction - especially from the old fort at the summit, gorgeous botanical gardens, a monastery and gardens (Game of Thrones filming location), the Dead Sea, and lots of semi tame rabbits and peacocks roaming.”
