You will experience the charm of the Old South at The Farmhouse Inn, located in Memphis TN….Home of the Blues, and Graceland, the former home of Elvis Presley…

My home is in an older neighborhood of Memphis, on a residential, mid-city, semi-busy street.
I have ample off-the-street parking, and I am within walking distance of a library, a bus stop, the Greenline biking/walking trail, varied restaurants, and a shopping center with a grocery store .

I’m about 8 miles from downtown Memphis, 4 miles to Midtown.
You will feel like you are in the country when you enjoy the back garden, or front porch. When I am able, I love to visit with guests, with coffee in the morning and/or a cocktail in the evening.

THE GRACELAND COTTAGE- a separate building behind the main house, which provides complete privacy and includes a queen bed, full private bath, kitchenette, and wifi connection.
My prices are low, my home is spotless, though old and worn, and Painting is definitely on the list, but I do everything I can to make everything right.
If you are the type to criticize someone's home because of things they can't change, like location, please make another choice.

Please don’t ask for a lower rate. I’m often told I could raise my prices, but I haven’t, and I don’t charge a cleaning fee. I offer a relaxed place for a relaxed price.

Pets are not allowed! DON'T ASK.

I am a semi-retiree trying to make a living by providing a gracious and comfortable place for my guests to rest and refresh. I have lived in this neighborhood my whole life, peacefully and happily, so, please, don't create issues where there are none.. It's rude.
Thank you!

Other things to note
During the Winter months, the Cottage can be difficult to keep warm because it is made of concrete. Many others have stayed comfortably, but if you are cold natured, keep it in mind

Also, please do not flush anything down the toilet, other than what it was made for, please.
My house has old plumbing. That's why public restrooms have those signs everywhere.

Also...LADIES.. PLEASE DONT REMOVE YOUR MAKEUP WITH MY TOWELS.. IT IMMEDIATELY TURNS THEM INTO RAGS.. IT DOESNT COME OUT.. THANK YOU

The best way to find the farmhouse is to get on Summer Ave between Highland St and Graham, and turn north on Isabelle St. At the Sonic.
Go through the Faxon intersection, coming to Tutwiler next. Turn right, my house is the third house on the left.. a two story with prayer flags hanging from the porch. Drive straight towards the back fence to park.
Never block the drive or drive on grass, please.. :)

FYI, regarding the virus fears...interactions with other people is pretty much non existent around here, and I rarely go out among crowds, so I don't expect any problems here. If you can, and want to reschedule, you can always change to a random future date, and change again later. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PEOPLE Especially if you are from out of the country with a foreign number. Get in touch with me on the day of your arrival so I can arrange for you to get in the house. I am a welcoming host, but keep in mind.... Don’t ask me to by-pass Airbnb enrollment. I value my ongoing and successful relationship with them, and I won’t jeopardize it by going around their requirements. Be sure this casual environment is your cup of tea. I get plenty of wonderful, laid-back guests who love my home. If you are not laid-back, please look for something more expensive that suits you better. I have had guests that questioned my neighborhood. It is not based on any occurrence any guest has had, or any I have had in the 50+ years I have lived here. I’m not sure what they base their opinion on, but it is an unfounded assumption, and personally, I would never write that about a host’s home. My home is way off the street, with on property parking. Please don’t ask me if my neighborhood is safe. It is safe. I wouldn’t live here if it wasn’t. Just sayin... ... I am a very liberal, open minded person, but conservatives may be put off by the environment in my home. It is my home, so be sure it works for you.. There are lots of options in Memphis to consider. So, the Farmhouse does not discriminate against any one except religious fanatics who judge others based on their lifestyle, and Trump supporters who don’t get it. This is an open and affirming home. Having said that... I'm not inclined to host very young children..... the keepsakes displayed around my house are just too tempting for them, and nerve wracking for me. ... sorry. PLEASE NOTE: Many hosts charge a cleaning fee, but I do not, because I expect guests to clean up after themselves. Every little piece of trash or hair has to be picked up by me, and every glob of toothpaste has to be wiped out by me. PLEASE!! if it’s yours, please pick it up and put it in the trash, and wipe out the sink! THANK YOU! Regarding cigarette smoking.. I’d like to ban it altogether, but no cigarette butts or ashes are to be in any room, or the house, or the front porch, or left anywhere for me to deal with. Thank you. Help keep my prices low! Remember, I am someone like your mother, or your grandmother, and I imagine you would do the same for them? : ) Guests are allowed to have coffee and to use the frig, the microwave and the toaster in the downstairs kitchen, but Please check with me first before using my stove or my washer and dryer. Please.. If your arrival time changes significantly from what you originally told me, please let me know, or you might not be able to get in. I try to be here or make arrangements otherwise, but you must let me know. Check in is 3:00 PM, but later is always ok, just let me know. Check out is 11 AM. Here are specific directions to The Farmhouse.. Exit I-40 (Sam Cooper) at the Graham Street Exit. Go north through the Summer Avenue intersection to Tutwiler Avenue The school will be on your Left. Turn left onto Tutwiler Avenue, pass Chatwood Cove, Maria Street, and Wrenwood. The Farmhouse is the third house on the right past Wrenwood. You can't miss the prayer flags. Drive straight back , close to the back fence to park. You will find 5 marked spaces.. Never block the drive or drive on grass, please.. :)
