Where you’ll be

Chicago, Illinois, United States

Ukrainian Village was just named "Hottest Neighborhood in America" by Trulia. Our address has a walk score of 94 because it has an awesome combination of places to walk to, public transportation options and rental bikes all over the place. (The bike score is a 96)
We are in a convenient location one block away from multiple bars, restaurants, boutiques, etc. you can walk to the El from the apartment (1/2 mile) and take it straight downtown to the museums or to O'Hare airport in the other direction. Our neighborhood is called Ukrainian Village and we are a historic district which means most of the buildings are old and the neighborhood has lots of character. We were granted this status in part because it is an unusual neighborhood with numerous Orthodox churches and cathedrals. It is a nice place to walk around. You can walk to the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art Museum and the Ukrainian National Museum. You can also get Ukrainian food and pastries. The neighborhood has changed in recent years, however, and has more than just Ukrainian residents. We are one block away from where Wicker Park starts and there you have dozens of restaurants and stores. You can walk to well-known Chicago music venue the Empty Bottle. There are also numerous bars and clubs all around within walking or inexpensive cabbing. Our street is quiet. Only a block away from lots of excitement, it is a dead end street with little activity. The street has permit parking so if you have a car we can give you a pass to put in your window and you should find parking easily right out front. However, you definitely do not need a car here. Apart from the Blue line El train, which is 1/2 mile away, it is only one block to either the Damen or Division street bus stops and it is easy to catch a cab by walking one block over and flagging one down, day or night. It takes bout three minutes for an Uber to get here. We are a block away from several convenience and liquor and wine stores. The nearest large grocery store is 1/2 mile away. If you don't want to worry about food while you are here it is possible to order groceries from online grocers to be dropped off the day of your stay. (That's what people sometimes do when they are here for the Chicago marathon.)
If you like exercise, The new Divvy rental bikes are available a block from us and are a fun way to get around. There is a new elevated trail for biking. walking and jogging called the 606 that is 1 mile away and is really beautiful all year round. If you need exercise classes while you are here, there is the Division Street Cross Fit around the corner, which offers free Sunday morning classes, and the Daily Method is a mile away in Bucktown.
