I am from Barcelona, Spain. I am a journalist and fashion magazine/media editor. I used to travel a lot and I know many tropical islands, including Hawaii and some in the South Pacific, but when I arrived in Rarotonga In 2003 I just fall in love with it. Then by chance I met a local “warrior” Robert Wigmore and fell in love with him too! We got married and went to live to Spain for three years where our child was born. Robert is an organic grower and we both are passionate for Nature, plants and trees. We always wished a timber house, but avoiding to breath the harmful chemicals which timber is treated with nowadays. We were lucky to have some Spanish Red Cedar trees (Cederela Odorata) in Robert´s farm, so we thought that we could make our home with this beautiful timber originally from my country but grown in Robert´s, so our story of love could be rounded by this romantic natural accident. Our friends from Baker Tree Services cut and milled these trees and it has been a long journey since then until the house has been finished, as to work on this timber manually is a slow and accurate job to do. We dried the timber, treated it with java oil and gave the final touch with natural wax. The result is not only a beautiful house, it is also a precious local building achievement. Would you like to smell the nice red cedar aroma? Stay in our natural/chemical free home!!
