Farmhouse on 46-acre working sheep dairy, fully renovated in 2001, with stunning mountain views, private swimming pool, close proximity to High Peaks hiking trails and Lake Placid. Come enjoy a fantastic Adirondack farm-stay at Blue Pepper Farm!

The space
Blue Pepper Farm is a working sheep dairy in the Au Sable Valley of the Adirondack Mountains. Our 46-acre farm sits across the valley from the hamlet of Jay and its historic covered bridge.

Guests will enjoy a staggering mountain panorama from the porch, deck, or pool overlooking the lush pastures where sheep and laying hens graze. Harvest dinner with us straight from the garden in the summer and fall to accompany fresh organically raised lamb, pork and eggs right from our farm. We are certified by Animal Welfare Approved and pride ourselves on healthy, happy animals. Where we provide supplemental feed we use NY organic grains and are part of Northeast Organic Farmer's Association's Farmer's Pledge program.

The house has 4 bedrooms; one king, one queen, one full and two twin beds (cribs available). There are 3 bathrooms. Enjoy in-floor radiant heat throughout the house on chilly mornings.

BPF is 25 minutes to Lake Placid, 15 minutes to Keene, 15 minutes to Whiteface, 1.5 miles off the bike loop of the Ironman, and surrounded by trailheads for great hiking. Take a jaunt down to the Jay Town Green for live music on Saturday evenings or a relaxing dip in the river.

Tyler and Shannon can help you plan the quintessential Adirondack stay with detailed info on hiking/backpacking, rock climbing, bicycling, fishing and canoeing as well as the connections for fantastic local meats, cheeses and vegetables through our relationships with local farmers, chefs, caterers and restaurants.

The farm sits a half mile above the Au Sable River with a few fun swimming holes. Next to the historic covered bridge, the town park has tennis and basketball courts, a large playground, along with outdoor concerts on the Green on Saturday evenings all summer. The towns July 4th fireworks can be viewed straight off across the valley - its almost like a private display!

Shannon and I operate a small sheep dairy producing yogurt, wool, lamb and sheepskins. We have two little guys, Wyatt and Shepherd (10 and 8), as well as our herding pup Ed, and three barn cats, LBC, Crow, and Monarch. We live, farm and play in the Adirondack Mountains and place much importance on healthy food and healthy land.
We get out into the mountains as much as possible, hiking, canoeing, fly fishing in summer, cross country and backcountry skiing/snowboarding in winter.
We love hosting folks at our farm to share both the killer view and the tasty local foods found in our valley of the Adirondacks, from our meats and eggs to fantastic cheeses from right down the road and vegetables from our friends' farms nearby.
We live just across the street from our farm stay rentals so we are close to our animals and available for guests' questions or needs. We love connecting guests with local hikes, activities and attractions, and sharing our glorious mountain farm and it's products with folks.

During your stay

We love to have guest join us for chores/farm tour and get to know our farm operation. You're also welcome to just relax and enjoy the view while barely noticing our presence. We live right across the road in a small farmhouse in the midst of more sheep pasture, so we're both working on the farm most days and nearby in case you need anything during your stay!
