At 200 meters from the sea, with a lush garden, this house offers you all you need to relax in the little village Valizas. House for 4 persons, bedlinen and towels available for 5 usd pp.

The space
This house sleeps up to 4 people in the lovely fishermen village of Barra de Valizas at the coast of Uruguay. The house is located at 100 meters from the sea with a nice garden and veranda with hammock, bbq and complete kitchen.

The house consists of two floors. On the ground floor there is a living with a nice kitchen which is really fully equiped.
The bathroom has a toilet, shower with hot water and a washing machine.
When the evenings are colder or when you just want a cosy night you can light up the fire place.

On the first floor you will find a double bed in the first room ( which are two singles beds next to each other with no crack in between it anymore) and two single beds in the other room (which is only seperated by a curtain, just to let you know)

IMPORTANT TO READ
there are no ATM's in Valizas so when coming by bus, keep in mind that you have to travel to Cabo Polonio or Castillos for the closest ATM. The bus connection to Castillos is quite good, but you will have to leave at 8.35 AM to Castillos (30 mins.) and take the bus back from Castillos at 11 AM. So bring cash.

Due to COVID, we had to cancel the WiFi connection. If you prefer to have a connection, you have to use your own cell phone.

Other things to note
Bring your valuables upstairs during the night and lock the door. Tough its safe, there are always some people with other intentions.

Barra de Valizas, Rocha, Uruguay

In Valizas there are two supermarkets where you can buy all the necessary goods you need. The bakery bakes the best pizzas, empanadas and bread of the world. Freshly baked every morning and during the day. Local fishermen sell fish from their boats for good prices and fresh!
And best, at the back of our house is the little tourist info center with the best home made icecreams and cakes ever! (1st of January till end February/ half March)

During high season -december untill march- Valizas offers you a lovely nightlife with live music every night, capoeirashows at the beach and the bars, beach parties which last untill the sun comes up and lovely sea food made by local restaurant owners or the best Uruguayan meat at the 'parilla' = bbq restaurants.

The best way to travel to Valizas is by bus from Montevideo with Rutas del Sol (4 hs) or, as I recommend, to rent a car while exploring the coast and interior of Uruguay because the nicest spots are not covered by busses and it'll save you a lot of travel time. The distance from Montevideo to Barra de Valizas is app. 300 kms, a 2,5 hour ride if you don't take a break in between.

Barra de Valizas has during high season (end of December untill the 15th of March) a lot to offer. There are horse track tours through the sand dunes to the famous village Cabo Polonio. A coastal village without electricty and a sea lion Colony. Manu Chao, and with him a lot of tourists, are in love with it.
Both at a 45 minute ride are Punta del Diablo with its magnificent adjacent national Park Santa de Teresa (bikes for rent over there) and La Pedrera, another nice beach town.
