Perfectly tucked away up a magical driveway is our cabin in the woods. Trappers Keep is a beautiful home that's surrounded by so much nature. We're far away from all the noise yet close enough to surrounding towns if you want to explore the area. Only 2h from GWB. Located across the river from Hancock NY with lots of outdoor activities, antique stores and small towns to explore. Perfect escape from city life!
The space
Our cabin is only 10 minutes away from the village of Hancock. It was designed for friends and family in mind. We thought of every detail when designing this home. Only 24 min away from French Woods Camp.
Living Room:
The living space is cladded from floor to ceiling with knotty pine that helps give this property a very cozy feeling. The downstairs has vaulted beamed ceilings, big windows, large brick fireplace and many modern amenities.
Dining Area:
The open floor plan is perfect for entertaining. Our dining table is made out of live edge walnut that seats up to 8 guests.
Bedrooms:
Upstairs you'll find two large bedrooms that hold king size beds. Each master bedroom has it's own private terrace that's perfect for star gazing or cocktails over sunset. They share a large master bath with rainfall shower. The downstairs room has a full size bed with a great view of sunset. This room is right next to the first floor bathroom.
Outside:
We have ample outdoor seating including a fire pit, Gas grill, outdoor dining table and hammock.
The space was designed by Su Beyazit from Su'juk.
Some things to know about the house:
- We have great wifi
- We have a fully surround sound music system with bluetooth connect.
- We have a ton of board games for you to use.
- All our lights are Phillips wiz so they can change colors and are dimmable.
- We have bathrobes we supply for each of our guests in each room as well as basic bathroom essentials such as shampoo, conditioner & body wash.
- Our kitchen is fully equipped with a Breville Espresso machine (pack whole espresso beans) , French Press, coffee grinder, tea kettle, tons of cookware and dishes for dinner parties.
- We have an outdoor grill + picnic table for you to use!
- We have 6 Adirondack chairs + fire pit and hammock outside for you to use.
- We supply firewood but encourage you to pick some up from town if you want to use the fireplace or fire-pit.
- We have a single person Kayak on site that you're welcome to use.
- If you are driving up in the snow we do recommend a 4wheel drive car to avoid any issues. Even though our roads are city maintained it's good to have.
- We would like to mention that our property is located in a country house setting, where occasional ladybugs or bees may find their way inside despite our best efforts. All our windows are equipped with screens to minimize such occurrences. However, we understand that this may not be within our full control.
Some things to pack:
- We do recommend bringing an eye mask if you prefer sleeping in darkness. Our house has tons of windows. We do have curtains but they are not blackout.
- Snow boots and thick socks for winter activities.
- House slippers for the winter to stay cozy.
- Swim shoes for the summer time!
Before arriving:
- Be sure to stop by Tops for any groceries- they also sell fire wood there so grab a few bundles alongside some kindling and newspaper. We do supply some for you as well but good to have for backup.
- If arriving on the weekend be sure to stop by All Sorts for a coffee and pastry or to grab some yummy provisions and local goodies!
- The Hancock Liquor store has you covered for all things booze related.
Guest access
You have access to the entire home and ten acres of land.
Other things to note
We do allow dogs on a case by case basis and have an additional non-refundable $50 pet fee per pet. This will be requested as a separate payment after booking. Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring your pooches or an extra fee applies.
The house is not child proof so families can decide whether to bring their toddlers.
Please note that this property does not have central air conditioning, though fans are available in each room. However it's super cool during the summer months and the windows allow for a lovely breeze.
