The space

Please be aware that our cabins are not made to the standard of a house, some of the finishing touches are rough and unconventional. If you are looking for accommodation that is like a hotel or a house, please choose somewhere else. Our place is ideal for people who appreciate eclectic, creative, and retro vibes and are not fussed that parts of the accommodation have quirks ( as detailed below)
Located next to the main house, CasaTavaita cottage, made up of basic cabins, consisting of 3 spaces.
The main lounge and adjoining cabin is fitted with a wood burner and/or Oil heater. Its bi-fold doors open out to a patio and garden area with a small Weber BBQ, picnic table and chiminea to enjoy the long summer evenings.
Next to the lounge, our loft cabin has 2 single beds and a mezzanine accessed via a ladder with a double bed and has a fireplace for heating
(Please note in winter, the cabins take about 45 mins to heat to a cosy temperature, please let us know if you are arriving late, and if we are home, we will put the fire on for you)
An adjoining lean-to functions as a kitchenette and includes a fridge, Kettle, Toaster, a double induction stove, microwave and washing-up sink. ( Please note that the kitchen has no heating)
The Bula Room Cabin is tastefully furnished with a queen-size bed and an oil heater for heating.
Please note: We will only make the beds up for the number of people staying so please request your bed configuration when booking.
Bookings of 4 people require 2 people to share a bed. If you wish to use all 4 beds there will be an additional bed-making charge of $15
The charming toilet and shower room can be accessed through the back of the kitchen and across the uncovered deck.
The back deck is screened for complete privacy and has a restored claw foot bath where you can enjoy bathing in serenity under the stars.
Tavaita Cottage is fully equipped with crockery and utensils for up to 6 people. We will provide plunger coffee, a selection of teas, milk, and sugar for you. You will have exclusive use of the facilities for the duration of your stay.
There is a small selection of books and board games to enjoy. Linen is provided.

Other things to note
PLEASE NOTE The hosts live in the house right next to Casa Tavaita and the driveway to the main house runs pass the accomodation.
The accomodation is not suitable for gatherings or parties.
During summer, the hosts often have neighbours, friends and family 'drop in' to visit. There is another cabin on the grounds that is used to host friends from out of town. Although the Casa Tavaita is separate from the house, the atmosphere would be more of a family friendly holiday park feel than a secluded retreat
Even though casa can accommodate 6 people, the living areas and outdoor spaces is best suited to a group of 4 any more may feel cramped.
The ceilings in the Lounge, loft cabin, and Kitchen are Low. Tall people may have to stoop when walking ( think of it as a house fit for hobbits but not elves :)
During heavy rain, water can drip down the side of the kitchen lean-to and around the fireplaces and the back deck can be slippery therefore you need to stick to walking on the grips.
During the winter months the wood burner will need to be used for the loft cabin and loungefor heating.
We have a small friendly dog who often likes to visit and say hi.
We are in a semi-rural environment, and although we do our best to keep critters away, it is not always possible.
The garage, next to the cottage is the depot for our family business which at times will be accessed by staff.
