Interaction with guests
We are available all day, but set aside the 5:30 appetizer time in particular as a good opportunity to share restaurant menus, help make reservations and suggest ways to best enjoy our area. We are also on hand at breakfast.
In respect to other guests and our neighbors, we observe a quiet time from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. The kitchen and laundry facilities are not available for guest use. We ask that you do not eat in the guest rooms since we refrain from using chemicals to eliminate insects and mice that might be attracted to food. Feel free to eat in the living room or on the porches.
Dan and Nancy Ward believe in embracing the basics. Our breakfasts reflect that philosphy. We don't do country breakfasts on one hand or elaborate creations with rich sauces on the other. We create memorably good food with homegrown ingredients from our organic gardens. We serve lots of fresh fruit, and our coffee is a locally roasted blend made specifically for Inn on Main Street. Every day we make a different type of muffin. All are hearty, healthy and sinfully good, and they never come from a box. We mean our entrees to be a happy alternative to the predictable: fritattas, baked apple french toast, herbed eggs with latkas, you get the idea.
Our rooms reflect that combination of indulgence and comfort as well. Envision Victorian without all the frou-frou. Comfort comes first always.
We love people, and love sharing our knowlege of our adopted home of Asheville and the mountains around it. Nancy calls us "nearly natives." We know where to see waterfalls, best places to eat, and where to get deals on shoes, books or antiques. We know a lot of great stories about our mountains, even some the tourist guides don't share.
Pull up a chair on the porch and hear a few.
