Nestled on the west coast of Scotland in the picturesque village of Clynder, Gareloch Cottage is situated on a peninsula between Loch Long and Gareloch.

Cool in the summer and cosy in the winter, it's a beautiful location to visit all year round. Our pretty cottage is a unique stay to enjoy a relaxing break in a stunning coastal setting. Book for a special occasion or to explore the magnificent scenery - it's set up for both couples; groups of up to 4 people and 1 well behaved furry friend.

The space
Guests love the privacy of our 18ft decked first floor open terrace which offers uninterrupted views to the front across Gareloch and the surrounding hills.

Opposite the cottage is a shingle beach which is perfect to take lazy walks along, watching the boat activity around the loch. Along the winding Peninsula are endless pebbly beaches with expansive views across the mountains and it's also a favourite spot for fishing. A local pub, The Creggans is less than 10 minutes drive away and serves the best fresh scampi and chips we've eaten!

The house is ideally situated to visit local beauty spots including Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, several National nature reserves and iconic historical castles such as Inverary. Glasgow airport is about a 40 minute drive and you can drive to Edinburgh for a day trip within approx one hour.

THE HOUSE

Dating back to around 1820, the cottage has been fully refurbished; retaining some of the original Victorian features.

Sleeping arrangements are: Upstairs: 1 double & 1 single bedroom, downstairs: 1 small double sofa bed in the snug).

THE GROUND FLOOR

Open plan living consisting of the lounge, kitchen, snug and downstairs bathroom.

LOUNGE:
A light and relaxing room. Set up with a dining table (which can also double as a working space) and 4 chairs. There's a spacious 3 seater sofa and Egg chair if you want to watch some TV. Feel free to meander through some of our book choices on the shelves or play a couple of the board games on a cosy evening in.

Alternatively you may want to switch off and listen to the sounds of nature all around you. This is where you can learn the art of 'Coorie' - a Scottish word meaning 'to snuggle' - leaving the stresses of the modern world for something simpler.

SNUG:
This is the room which leads off from the lounge and can also be utilised as an additional space to sleep. There's a brushed green velvet small double sofa bed suitable for 1 person and an oak wardrobe for extra guest storage. As open plan living there is no door between the two rooms, but we have put up floor to ceiling curtains which can be pulled across for guest privacy.

BATHROOM:
Off from the Snug is the contemporary downstairs bathroom. Recently fully refitted with a bath shower (with Rainfall shower head) and heated towel rail.

KITCHEN:
A light galley style kitchen which has an enclosed porch with direct access and view to the private back garden.

Fully equipped for your holiday with useful amenities including an American style fridge-freezer, washing machine, dish washer, microwave, 4 slice toaster, double electric fan oven and a range of crockery and cooking utensils. Coffee lovers can get their daily caffeine fix with the Tassimo Coffee Machine.

OUTDOOR SPACE

Leading out from the kitchen porch directly to the private back garden is a small patio with a picnic style bench - perfect for eating and drinking on a sunny day. Easy access to and from the kitchen with food and drink!

The garden area in front of the patio is accessible up 4 stone steps. Enclosed by shrubbery, it's a little steep and uneven with some stone steps dotted about.

There is gravelled parking for one vehicle to the side of the house.

UPPER FLOOR:

The upstairs accommodation is where the property really comes into it's own with a bright upper landing having a door opening out onto the long decked terrace that takes in the magnificent view.

DOUBLE BEDROOM:
Off the landing is the cosy Master bedroom with a double bed. The room lets in lots of natural light and has the features of the original Victorian fireplace and wooden window shutters. Set back from the road and on the first floor, it retains full privacy for guests to enjoy the beautiful loch views. It's especially pretty in the evening with twinkly lights on the water and boats gently bobbing on the waves at night. Equally you can capture an amazing sunset or sunrise, the scenery is every changing throughout the day.

There is an adjoining small en-suite dressing area with built in wardrobe storage and a stand alone full length mirror.

TERRACE:
There is access to the terrace both via the double bedroom and also the upper floor landing. Leading out onto the expansive decked terrace with enclosed glass balcony with magnificent views across Gareloch.
The terrace is set up with a Bistro coffee table set plus a 2 seater Rattan sofa and low table.

SINGLE BEDROOM:
The peaceful second bedroom has a single bed, free-standing light and a clothes rail. It has enviable views across the lush back garden where you can hear the birds singing throughout the day.

PARKING:
The driveway has parking for one car. There is also additional parking directly across the road from the house in a layby. You can also park right outside the house on the pavement.

DOGS:
The house is suitable for one small - medium sized dog. Four legged friends are catered for at the property. To wash your dog there is an outside tap with a flexible detachable hose at the back of the house. We provide dog guest towels and a guest dog basket / dog bowl and mat should you wish to use them.

We advise that your dog is kept on it's lead outside the house as the front is ungated. Pets must sleep downstairs and be accompanied at all times whilst at the house.

Argyll and Bute Council, Scotland, United Kingdom

Directly opposite the house is Gareloch - an open sea loch offering uninterrupted views of the stunning sea and mountains.

PLEASE NOTE: The location shown on the map is not the correct location, we are near Rosneath on the other side of the peninsula.

The location is perfect for those who enjoy the outdoor life with Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, Rhu Beach, Lunderston Bay, Arrochar Alps all close by.

There are endless activities to enjoy in the great outdoors including golf, fishing, pony trekking, kayaking, cycling, biking and swimming.

For keen mountain climbers, there are 4 Munros (Scottish mountains over 3,000ft high) in Helensburgh and Lomond.

Cultural and historical tours are also available taking in (amongst others) a whisky tour at Oban Distillery, a day trip to Inverary Castle, Argyll Forest Park and Kilchurn Castle.

The nearest town to our cottage is Helensburgh (about 10 minutes drive) which is located between the north shore of the river Clyde and hills that overlook Loch Lomond. Helensburgh has a marina, leisure centre and lots of independent places to shop, eat and drink.

Within a few minutes drive from the house is well stocked Co-Op, a pub which serves amazing local fish and chips, and independent family run cafes (one offers delicious home made pizza).

Both Edinburgh and Glasgow are also in easy reach and Clynder is within commuting distance of Glasgow International Airport.

I love travelling to new places and meeting people from all walks of life. I knew when I first saw the cottage that it would be a very special location to host a holiday let.
