Come live like a local and see why we feel so fortunate to call this incredible place our home. This is not a regular vacation rental, it was our home for over 9 years. We have a very comfortable, spacious, and beautiful homestead that we are offering for you to experience. We hope you will appreciate all the details that have made this place so special for so many.

NOTE WINTER 2022: It looks like it’s going to be another intense winter, we’ve already had a lot of rain and wind, and early snow. Our home is against the Andes where the brunt of the winter storms can slam against the house. If you are up for a real winter adventure, we welcome you to our wonderful home. You must be prepared for occasional leaks and bursts of smoke down the chimney, and potentially (we consider it a treat) getting snowed in. If you want to live in a warm house and experience a wild Chilean winter, this is the place for you. If not, you might have better luck down in Pucón proper.

Our internet is not enough for video conferencing on zoom, nor streaming or synching web-based apps. It's fine for email and browsing. For telework, you would want to create a hotspot from your own cell phone (Entel works great) for your own internet and conferencing use. You can also use our internet for that, but you'll need to purchase additional gb for your own use.

Now onto our awesome home:
Our large master bedroom has gorgeous views from the king-sized bed which opens onto a huge deck with a built-in claw-foot bath. The bed is amazingly comfortable with cotton sheets and a silk/down comforter (we do have other options for those who can't do down.) There is also a couch in the master bedroom with a pull-out bed for extra guests. It includes a small custom-made desk/workspace, lots of English books, and a wood stove and 2 TV monitors to connect to your laptop or watch DVDs (we've got some DVDs you might like, there is no cable or regular TV).
The second bedroom has a double bed with a great view and morning sun, and its own door to the deck. Both rooms have black out curtains for sleeping-in days.
The bathroom has a tub and shower with a forest view, lovely for sunny morning soaks. If you love baths, you'll love the outdoor tub on the deck in the early morning listening to bird songs, or at night under a star-filled sky with the milky way and perhaps a shooting star.
We've got a dream kitchen to create everything from gourmet meals to simple snacks, with a big gas stove and oven, as well as a wonderful wood cookstove/oven. We've got all the pots and pans and utensils you'll need, and a host of great cookbooks in English. There's an herb garden outside to add local flavor to your creations.
The outside is magnificent, with beautiful views and lots of lush, green forests and gardens and flowers and birds in summer, or beautiful snow in the winter. The song birds are fabulous in the morning and evening, and then there are the stars! There is lots of room to run and play, for kids of all ages.
There are lots of organic raspberries in summer and fall, and likely some blueberries; all you can pick and eat. In summer you can enjoy the concord grapes and fresh greens in the greenhouse attached to the kitchen.
We have lots of toys for all ages, including board games, a yoga mat, and more.
Our house is a well-insulated, comfortable home with plenty of hot water and firewood and 3 wood stoves, including a fabulous wood cookstove. You must be prepared to chop wood and heat with wood, as it's the only heat source.
This is not yet another Pucón summer cabin for rent. Be aware that in Pucón, you get what you pay for. Our home would rent for $200-$300/night in most other places; the Pucón housing market is now saturated.
Come here to escape the world (and even Pucón's summer party scene). We're only 20 minutes (without traffic jams) from downtown Pucón Chile's adventure capital. It's only 30 minutes to visit the quaint Mapuche village of Currarehue; Anita Epulef’s world-class Mapuche restaurant just before you arrive to Currarehue on the right is an epicurean delight. From there you can head up the Andes to the gorgeous araucaria forests and views of Lanin at the border with Argentina.
We have a very pet friendly house (wth dog beds and dog doors and lots of room to run and play), and welcome well-behaved pets. The yard is not fenced and you are expected to keep your animals from running away and bothering any neighbors.

Pucón, Araucanía, Chile

Our home is in a quiet, rural Pucón campesino neighborhood called Los Nevados. Most of the folks on our road have farm animals and have lived here for generations. There are newer homes going up now, but it's still one of the quietest neighborhoods in Pucón.
You can hike up the hill from our house to get to the quieter, Los Nevados sector of Villarrica National Park and meet up with the Villarrica Transverse Trail, in only a few hours from our front door. The hike includes old lava flows, araucaria trees, a lenga forest buried to the canopy in lava, and stunning views.
We have more urban, international neighbors within our small development Sierra Madre. Many are happy to help you with local advice.
It's a very safe neighborhood.

I had the great fortune to live in paradise – outside of Pucón, Chile – for 9 years with my husband and our 3 dogs and 2 cats. Our home there is on 2 hectares of forest land with organic greenhouses and gardens, and views of 3 national parks. I'm now back in California for a while so we're renting out our wonderful home in Chile. We're happy to share it with you to enjoy a bit of our piece of paradise!

We will not be onsite to greet you, as we're back in California. Rosa, the caretaker for Sierra Madre will greet you if you desire to give you the keys and show you around, and help you with anything you need (in Spanish). Rosa also makes amazing bread and sopapillas and knitted and crocheted items and has farm fresh eggs; ask her if you're interested in seeing any of her goodies!
