In the various inland ports, a large number of historic and recreational ships are moored. Harlingen knows the largest brown fleet in the Netherlands. On the Willemskade there are several buildings that fit the look of the area including the warehouse building from 1903.

At the Willemshaven, the Willem Barentsz wharf was built on a replica of the Willem Barentsz. This is a reconstruction of the type of ship with which the seafarers sailed to Nova Zembla. Now that the ship is completed, the ship can be deployed for tourist-recreative purposes, historical research and for training.
