Tranquil Farm cottage totally off the grid - It is open plan spacious cabin in a quiet valley. The cabin is in woodland, surrounded by trees and nature.
The valley is in an area that is fairly central on the island - giving easy access to the calm Caribbean side beaches on the West coast of Antigua, but still only 20 minutes to English Harbour and its evening fun with lots of bars and restaurants or 20 minutes North to St. John's the capital.

The space
The cottage is Caribbean style, its walls covered in wooden shingles, with shuttered windows and a large open deck. It is tucked away in a remote and wooded valley.
The kitchen is open sided, birds flying through! A three burner stove and under counter gas fridge. There is everything you would need from espresso coffee maker to knife sharpener! The pots and pans hang on the wall.
The cabin is totally eco and is powered with solar energy, the sockets are 110v USA with a 1000 watt inverter. All the water is rain water. The shower (which gets very hot ) is open to the woods, the side tactfully comes to chest height! The bedroom is large with windows on 3 sides. The door on the 4th side leads Narnia like through the wardrobe to the kitchen and on to the bathroom.
From the netted four poster bed, you look through balcony and garden to the hills covered in lemon grass. There are comfy chairs and a hammock on the balcony, perfect for a lounge with a book (there is a selection) and a glass of wine...or two!
The cottage has a garden and teak lounge chairs for you to watch the stars or sunbathe...
Although we are in this quiet and hidden valley it is only a short and rather lovely short drive down Fig Tree Drive ( also known as the Rain Forest Road), to the nearest beach at Carlisle Bay. Beyond Carlisle Bay are some of the best beaches in Antigua laid out before you along the West Coast, the side with the Caribbean sea.

Guest access
The cottage is your home while you are here, there are no other houses than the 2 cabins and my own home in the valley so and feel free to roam !
The garden has no gate, and leads naturally into the valley and the surrounding countryside. The road is so quiet, maybe a car a day, so there is no problem walking along down through lemon grass and mango trees.

Other things to note
The power for the cottage is solar
There are solar lights on the path to the cottage, but depending on the sun they do not always last late into the night - so we have torches for you to use. There is also a local mobile phone for booking restaurants, or if you get lost !

We live in a quiet and remote spot about half a mile from the nearest village - very peaceful with only the sounds of nature . Thats not to say that nature is always quiet - tree frogs, crickets and the odd donkey can be a bit of a surprise!
We feel more remote than perhaps is actually true - its 20 minutes South to English Harbour or North to St. Johns.
English Harbour is where I head for restaurants and bars - a good mix is found in one small area. Most of the best beaches are about 20 + minutes in the other direction along the West Coast.

I am from England originally, but have been living in the Caribbean for 30 years. I run my own business, a Production Service Company, which helps people coming into the Caribbean for filming or photography. When not traveling for work I live at home at Tranquil Farm with donkeys, dogs, ducks, chickens !! I love to garden and reading, and the peacefulness of my surroundings.
