Stonington, CT

Architecturally constructed with large northeast and southwest facing windows, this luxurious retreat invites the beauty of the surrounding 47 acres of Maple Lawn Farm to charm you.

Our stunning, newly constructed, post and beam guest house features an open floor plan with a gourmet kitchen and large dining area. A spiral staircase leads to a bedroom suite. Enjoy woodland trails on the property, play bocce or horseshoes, or rest in the hammock beside the pond.

The space
The Space
The master bedroom features a King Size bed and a sitting area with two, additional single beds overlooking the southwest pastures. There are two televisions, one on each floor, and the half bath downstairs has a washer and dryer.

If you have small children, please consider that there is a spiral staircase and balcony. If you have a toddler - or a daredevil child - the open floor plan of our guest house may not be suitable for you.

Coffee, Tea, breakfast cereal and in-season bounty from our garden are here for you.

Parking
There is ample outdoor parking for you here. Lyft/Uber is also available.

The Environs
Geese, ducks, deer and turkey roam the property daily. There are walking paths on the property and the trout pond is a short distance from your front door.

If you venture off the farm, there is so much to enjoy year-round. Mystic Seaport, Fine dining, Fishing, Beaches, the Aquarium, NESS (where you can rent kayaks, sailboats, etc), the US Coast Guard Academy, Connecticut College, Foxwoods Casino and more... All are a are 5-15 minute drive. If you like to bike, we recommend you bring your bicycle and enjoy the scenic roads that lead you straight to the ocean at Stonington Point.

A Historic Property
This guest cottage is located beside our home - the Wheeler Homestead (built in 1735). If you love history, masonry, and natural beauty, you will love your stay here.

Other things to note...
The very large windows in the house do not have shades so morning light will come in and it is not possible to keep the home dark during daylight hours. There are, however, blinds and curtains in the bedroom area to provide privacy.

On the other side of the guest cottage is an equipment barn. If you stay with us during the spring/summer months the barn is in regular daytime use. From October - May the equipment barn is only used occasionally and you may hear an occasional garage door opening. For example, if it snows and we need to plow!

On Friday mornings there will be a humming noise as the generator charges.

Guest access
The whole cottage is yours. So you are the only one using the laundry, bathrooms, kitchen, etc. There are many patios on the property but there is one that is designated as your patio and it is located right outside your sitting room. You are welcome to relax at the pond but you may encounter our family there, too.

Other things to note
During this time of the pandemic we reserve 3 days between guest visits and we are taking precaution to disinfect all hotspot areas.

There is wifi here if you need internet access while you are staying with us. If you anticipate needing a very powerful connection due to a need, for example, to download video from the cloud, please let us know in advance so we can make necessary preparations.

I'm a teacher and an artist. I travel on my own or with my partner and our daughter. Often I travel to see performance or because I am rehearsing/performing in something myself. We love hosting folks at our family's historic farm in Connecticut. After years living in NYC, now we live in New England. We are clean, tidy, respectful guests.
