COVID-19: The Consulate is a low-risk environment. We know people still need to travel. Dark and I work from home already, and I take time to thoroughly disinfect your rooms between guests. So, with your own personal entrance, it is possible to spend your entire stay in just-for-you rooms, with no interaction, if you prefer.

You have your own 2nd floor living room, bedroom, and bathroom. This is a Medical Marijuana household, and we have 2 friendly dogs. We hope you'll enjoy our 100yr-old home.

The space
Enjoy your own 2nd floor Bedroom, Bathroom, & Living Room at the Greek Consulate, built by the Scholomitti's around 1911. You'll have parking, a private entrance, porch with a view, fenced back patio/yard for your doggo, and access to a large shared kitchen and laundry. We are .5 mile from Uptown's main attractions, on a free bus loop! Montana is a Medical Marijuana state, and this is a cannabis-friendly BnB (nicotine smoking outside). We look forward to hosting you in our cozy, upcycled home.

The Consulate is a two-story brick building with 9 doors, 4 porches, a parking lot across the street, and a high-fenced back yard. It used to be a law office, boarding house, grocery store, veterinary clinic, brothel, & more. We call it The Consulate because it was built around 1915 by the Scholomitti family, who acted as the Greek Embassy, or Consulate, for Greek miners in Butte.

We work on being environmentally-nurturing at the Consulate, so nearly everything in the building is upcycled or thrifted. We love our space and take very good care of it, and operate from the principle that things don't need to be brand new and perfect to still be useful and pretty.

Downstairs lives our housemate Sam (with his own kitchen), and there's a giant front room full of art supplies and plants. Upstairs is your personal bedroom/bathroom/livingroom, the upstairs kitchen and laundry, shared dining room, and my and my partner's spaces.

When you arrive, you enter through a decorative gate on the northern side of the building on First street, and up the exterior stairs past a brick patio with seating and a firepit. Your private entrance opens onto a back porch with a lovely view of the mountains the sun rises over, and the Lady of the Rockies at dark.

We have a large, calm dog (Great Dane mix) named Tulsa, who is basically the Sheriff of Butte, and a floofy Heeler mix named Billie Jean.

Guest access
You enter through the full-sized gate on the north side of The Consulate, into the backyard- and then up the stairs to your personal entrance on the south end of the porch. The bedroom, bathroom, and living room are all yours, and you also have access to a shared laundry, kitchen, dining room, as well as seating on the porch and patio weather permitting.

Other things to note
This is a medical cannabis-friendly home. Any nicotine smoking must be done outside. We have a very large, friendly, calm Great Dane mix named Tulsa, and a small floofy Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler named Billie Jean. We work on being environmentally-nurturing at the Consulate, so nearly everything in the building is upcycled or thrifted. We love our space and take very good care of it, even though it's old!

Location

East Butte, Butte, Montana

All of Butte is unique to the small town experience, Uptown (the historic "downtown", but on the hill) moreso, and our neighborhood is no exception to the curiosities of this craggy old mining town. While drinking your coffee in the morning, you may be listening to the whoops of children at the nearby Headstart playground, or a local character walking his shopping cart and singing to himself. Although a lot of Butte is run-down and waiting for development, we have always felt safe in our house bordering an old industrial district. I regularly walk instead of drive, and if you can adjust to the mile-high elevation, you'll see that Butte is an amazing walking town! The Consulate is close to so many wonderful attractions and resources, and I'm happy to make suggestions on whatever you're looking for.

I live in Butte, America, the Mining City, the Gibraltar of Labor, with my very tall artistic boyfriend, Dark Sevier, and our two doggos: sweet Dane-mix-in-charge Tulsa, and floofy Shepherd-Heeler Billie Jean. Our goals in life all amount to having a better time, with more people, more often, and helping other folks do the same. We like Americanos in the morning, whisky at night, and productive conversations about difficult subjects any time of day. Neither of us can call ourselves Butte natives, since our grandparents weren't born here, but we love sharing this strange, feisty, genuine town with our guests.

I'm reliably in touch by phone/message all day, and I love to help people get to know my strange and wonderful mountain town.
