The views from all directions are what made me fall in love with this cottage in the first place. Fields to the east and south, water to the south with a view of one of the church steeples, forest to the west and a huge chesnut tree (with swing!) to the north.
The house is a five minute walk from Murphy’s beach (pictured below), a great beach for small children with shallow, warm water for a long way. Skinner’s Cove, Cove Road beach are a short bike ride or drive, and there are a multitude of other beaches as you drive to the end of the Cape (pictured below). Canoeing and kayaking are popular, as well as bike riding throughout the River John area. The local gas station/ store (with everything!) is at the end of the Cape road, and other amenities are found in the town of River John itself (drugstore, post office, library with free internet, town hall). The town of Pictou (30 minutes) and Tatamagouche (15 minutes) are larger centers with greater shopping selection.
