J. F. Cole House, as a National Registry Historic Home, was constructed in 1889. The owner J. F. Cole was a mercantile and pharmacist. Mr. Cole's home exudes historic charm and idiosyncrasies historic architecture share. This is a lovely i-frame with rear ell and gables, in a Federalist - Gothic style. J. F. Cole was a Carthage native who lived and died in the home and it was noted as "haunted" when we first viewed with our realtor. Unexplained sounds occur now and then but it is peaceful here.
