Where you’ll be

Selatrað, Faroe Islands

Selatrat (Danish: Sellettræ) is a village in the Faroe Islands. It is located at Sundini on the west coast of Eysturoy and is part of Sjóvar municipality. Selatrat is first mentioned in the Dog Letter. The village was the seat of Eysturoy's wart. The Selatrat settlement is more scattered than usual in a Faroese settlement. At the village is a small forest which was planted in 1913. The church at Selatratt, Selatraðar kirkja, was built in 1927. On 1 January 2009 Selatratt had 56 inhabitants, compared with 76 in 1985.
