This mountain and orchard escape is located 8 miles (20 minutes) from the Mission Ridge ski area, yet only 6 miles from town. At 2500 ft in elevation the temperatures are consistently about 8 degrees lower than in the city, so it’s more comfortable in the summer and snowier in the winter. The house is on a hillside with sweeping views of mountains and orchards. You can see down to the Columbia River as well as up to Mission Ridge. The house is comfortably furnished and charming.

The space
Guests have access to the entire upstairs of this home via stairway with the exception of a loft area. There’s a bedroom, living room, full kitchen, and bathroom. There’s also a backyard area with a gas barbecue grill (except in winter) and a seating area overlooking the valley. There’s ample room for parking right out front.

Guest access
During winter lots of snow can fall. It's recommended that you come via 4 wheel drive. And just in case recent snowfalls might be too much for you to get your car up the last 300' of driveway you could park your car at the bottom near the entry gate poles, and then walk up to the house.

Other things to note
The Wifi name and password are on the product label of the router, which is located on the kitchen counter/peninsula.

Wenatchee, Washington, United States

The house is across the street from a large cherry orchard with many other fruit orchards in the surrounding hillsides. There are lots of hiking trails closeby as well as plenty of outdoor recreation activities along the Columbia and Wenatchee Rivers. If you bike, be sure to try the 11-mile Apple Loop Trail along the river! During the summer, the Farmer's Market at Pybus Public Market is rated the best in the state. For winter sports, the Mission Ridge ski area has drier snow than what you get on the western slopes of the Cascades, so it’s a destination resort for snowboarding and skiing. Snowmobiling is popular on the Stemilt hill. Snowshoeing is possible right outside the house. Hunting and fishing are popular up the Squilchuck and Stemilt valleys and in the state recreation and national forest areas. But you’re close enough to Wenatchee so for going down for restaurants, shopping, wine tasting, and all the other things the Wenatchee Valley has to offer, it is very convenient. The perfect combo of city and mountains.

I'm a retired construction program manager, focusing now on learning Spanish and traveling in Spanish-speaking countries. I sometimes travel with my wife when able, she works as a librarian. We lived and worked for 5 years in Germany in the 1980s; I don't speak German anymore but I do understand the spoken and written language. I like winter sports and bicycling.

During your stay
My co-host, Maria, is available when needed to answer questions and help with any problems you might have. Otherwise, you're on your own, with plenty of privacy and quiet. At the front door is a video doorbell, which alerts us when someone approaches.

Commonly touchable surface like door handles and remote controls are cleaned with bleach wipes. Also, reservations are not permitted two days after a previous guest departs and two days before the next guest arrives, so that there's ample time between guests to assure virus sterile conditions.
