Quiet and cozy arts and crafts bungalow in a very safe, historic neighborhood walking distance to theaters and restaurants in Overton Square and Starbucks is a block away. Easy Uber/Lyft to Beale Street, Sun Studio, Stax Museum, Redbirds Stadium, Cooper/Young arts/entertainment area and downtown. There is a shy, somewhat antisocial, but very sweet greyhound who lives in the house with me and my partner, John. We welcome all humans here.

The space
We have a tankless water heater so hot showers last for days. And, you don't need to buy water here. Memphis sits on a huge natural aquifer and our tap water is some of the best in the world.

Guest access
There's plenty of on the street parking. Feel free to use the refrigerator and cook in the kitchen, just please clean up after yourself. There's a Keurig in the kitchen and there's always plenty of coffee and tea if you need a pick-me-up. I usually have fruit, bagels, and cream cheese on hand if you need a quick breakfast, too. Sit on the porch swing or hang out in the front room and join us for watching movies.

Other things to note
Please treat my home as you would your beloved grandmother's. If you cook, we ask that you clean up after yourselves. We don't produce enough dishes for a dishwasher, so you will have to hand wash your cookery tools.

Idlewild, Memphis, Tennessee

This is a safe, historic neighborhood with tree-lined streets, joggers and bikers everywhere, and friendly pet walkers. At the same time, we're one street away from fast food and chain restaurants and just 3-4 blocks from funky local and high end restaurants. We've experienced a renaissance in the last few years so this is a budding theater district, too. A longer walk will get you to a beautiful park and it's an easy drive to all kinds of historic sites, music venues and all that's hip and happening in Memphis.

I am quiet and friendly at the same time, usually described as a good listener. My partner, John, and I like walking to discover new places and people. We love food, cafes and restaurants, both for the food and for the people watching. Though I am not a big shopper, I truly enjoy open markets, mostly because I like talking to the vendors and other shoppers, and John is kind enough to indulge me. At the end of the day, we like a quiet place to lay our heads, so that's what we offer folks who stay with us.

During your stay
We're quiet homebodies who go to bed early and get up early, and we will respect your privacy. But, we can be as available as you like (as long as we're awake!) if you need help finding good food and fun things to do in the area.
