About this listing

The Loft is close to Mount Vernon's art and culture; four blocks from the Baltimore's Washington Monument, the Peabody Conservatory and the Walter's Art Gallery. There are many restaurants and shops. It is a good place for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers, only 1 block from the Light Rail. The space has utilitarian charm. Enjoy hanging out at nearby coffee shops, wine bars, and having a pleasant time.

The space

Utilitarian Space providing basics with a pleasant flair. Great light.

Guest access

Private entrance access to second floor loft with full bath and kitchenette with microwave and electric espresso maker. Coffee / Tea / Bottled water / Light local breakfast items available.

Interaction with guests

With our design studio below and house minutes away, we are easily available for any questions and to offer suggestions for a great stay. The area has much established and many new features to enjoy.

Other things to note

The studio is located in an urban environment. There is pedestrian traffic and street noise. Light sleepers may want to utilize our white noise sound machine when staying over. I personally like the 'fire' setting.

Also, the wood floors are the original floors. Please be weary of splinters if barefoot.

It's a great loft. It was very spacious and clean, and comfortable. But, the reviews that mentioned street noise were true, and I underestimated them. The loft actually shakes when large cars or trucks pass by, and when people talk outside, you can hear every work perfectly. I'm an incredibly light sleeper, but my cousin, who sleeps relatively through noise did also mention she had trouble sleeping. But despite all that, we really appreciated the cleanliness of the space. It was also a nice walking distance to a 24hr CVS and Ceremony Coffee Roasters, which was a nice bonus (since I'm always checking out specialty coffee shops when traveling). Parking was relatively easy to find a block away, but we were also told by a local that that block happens to have a lot of car thefts so... be careful! They had a tv and some board games if you're ever bored! It was a nice place overall!

Response from Karen:
Street parking is easy directly in front of the building. We have not heard of any reports of car theft on our block & most of the locals are also hosts or rent out space. I think this is inaccurate. Also, regarding noise, this is a real urban loft in the downtown & really close to a lot of cool places.

The loft was exactly as advertised! Very clean and it had everything we needed. Communication with Karen was great. Karen provided some milk in the fridge which came in handy when we had cookies and watched Netflix!

I am an architect/ artist in the design practice, MANIFOLD design, with my partner, David Naill.
We make furniture, sculpture installations & work on small urban restoration and rural projects. We live and work in downtown Baltimore.

One summer, pre-Airbnb, David and I traveled through Europe via train & stayed with different people offering available rooms. We had amazing experiences, including staying on a boat in Amsterdam, in an Italian palazzo, & in some very cool modern flats. Our hosts were charming. We have been together since and now have two teenagers! The experiences as a guest & host through Airbnb feel similar and I have met great people!

I love visiting Italy as much as possible and have participated in the last three Venice Architecture/ Art Biennales as well as the Fuorisalones in Milan. I am a considerate and neat guest that hopes to be out enjoying most of the day but appreciates a pleasant space to relax and recuperate.
