This space is a private 3RD floor of a historic home. Featuring a private entrance, King bedroom, 1 bathroom, open living space, updated kitchen, and enclosed porch. The best part about this space is the location- walking distance to the lakes, restaurants, grocery, and coffee shops, pubs, shopping. The house is old which means charming quirks and interesting features. Stocked with basic amenities. Professionally cleaned. Basic but comfy stay for guests who want to be close to the city/ lake.

The space

The space is unique because of its location. In the heart of the city, yet quite. Close to downtown, museums, restaurants, bars, shopping, and coffee shops. About 20 min from the airport depending on traffic. If you are up for an adventure the lakes are 2 blocks away where you can rent paddle boards, canoes, and bikes. Public transportation a few blocks away. The home is very old and quirky. The bathroom is very functional but unique. Overhead lighting was not a thing when the home was built, so lamps are available, and feel free to move them around from room to room.

Guest access

The entire 3rd floor- private entrance on the side of the house. Guests have access to the basement for laundry.

Interaction with guests

I am always available via text / call for emergencies or if you need something that is not provided.

Other things to note

A dog lives in the house on the first floor with the owners.

Sarah and Derek are excellent communicators and great hosts, their space is comfortable and it's in a great location, walking distance to everything ~ the walker art museum, restaurants, coffee shops. Perfect for a couple or solo travelers, I would highly recommend Sarah and Derek's for a stay in Minneapolis.

Sarah and Derek's place is a perfect retreat close Uptown, the lakes, and Downtown. Cozy bed and lots of space. I didn't use the kitchen really, but it was good to know it was there if I wanted to bring something back to make snacks.

Everything worked out quite smoothly and the place had the optimal location for me! I really liked staying there.

Great location in a quiet neighborhood with streets lined with beautiful trees, which made my mid-Fall stay especially lovely for the changing of colors of leaves. Only 3-4 blocks from Lake of the Isles and close to some great food and nightlife. The beautiful old house has lots of character and charm, and the bed is very comfortable. The owners are very accommodating and respond to any requests, suggestions immediately. HIGHLY recommend going for a run/walk around the Lake of the Isles to view the changing of the leaves if visiting during the Fall!

This place definitely has character as it is an old building. I found my stay at Sarah and Derek's place to be for the most part comfortable. As other reviews stated it is in a great location and had all the amenities I needed. I found it a bit challenging that the temperature of the apartments was a bit chilly for me and I could not control the heat (as it is an old house the thermostat was elsewhere). Granted, I tend to get cold easily. When asked if the heat could be turned slightly up i was met with a bit of resistance which was a bit frustrating. (I have a medical condition where my body needs to stay warm.) If you tend to run warm body temperature wise, this would not be an issue for you! :-) Besides that my stay was great and Sarah and Derek were very helpful and responsive to messages.

Thank you for letting us know about the heat issue. The radiators have now been fixed and the space is very cozy.

Sarah and Derek's third floor space is so nice. I love old houses and all their quirks. If you don't, this isn't the spot for you, but if you love the weird cuts of rooflines, and old floors, and the rustic charm of the old, this is the place. Also the bed! It's a giant old (or does a good job of mimicing the old) sleigh bed. So comfy. When we arrived, I had forgotten that there was a full kitchen, as well as the sitting area, with TV. This would be a great spot for an extended stay. My girlfriend and I wish we had had more time than the two full days (three nights) we had. We'll definitely return to Minneapolis, and if possible, this spot. We didn't have a car, but the location was excellent. We expected to use the bus (only a few blocks away), but we mainly used Ubers. Still, if you want to use mass transit, you'll have no problems getting into downtown. And many places are walkable, including the Walker Art Center; a few bars and restaurants (the Lowry; and others); an ice cream shop (Sebastian Joe's); and excellent coffee shop (Spyhouse) and a great meat market for sandwiches or meats to cook (Lowry Hill Meats). (I ventured even farther than the average walk -- a mile -- to one of Minneapolis' great local bookstores, Magers & Quinns). You could easily just use Sarah and Derek's space for a short get away and not even venture far. A wonderful spot.

My husband and I are young working corporate professionals who love to travel and explore our Minneapolis neighborhood. We are primarily hosts on Airbnb, but also love to travel.

The private 3rd level of our home is a one bedroom suite, so we open it to guests.

Our house has 3 floors- the first we live on, the second we rent out, and the 3rd unit we share with guests.

Let me know if you need Minneapolis advise on where to eat, what to do, and what to see while you are here. Minneapolis has a wide variety of concerts, Arts, museums, micro breweries, eat street, lakes, and festivals.
