This is THE place to stay in Kauai! You are basically located in what feels like the middle of a rain forest, out of the way, and a mere 2-minute walk to/from the beach in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. Beach gear and bikes were made available for us to avoid the traffic and hit the best parts of the North Shore. They even provided a machete to one of my kids so we could carve up a coconut! Tunnels was a 5-minute bike ride down the road with Ke'e beach and the Kalalau trail entrance maybe 15. If you want to go into Hanalei (which we did often), you're there in 15 minutes by car. Esteban and Christina were fantastic hosts, providing detailed info about what to do on the island, where to buy stuff, how much things cost, etc.... They even set us up with some sweet fresh bananas that were growing plentiful around their place. When we needed items like coffee filters and trash bags, they were quick to provide. In addition to all that, they are both just really cool and chill people! The only negatives I can think of are that the hot water never really got hot, we had to re-wash most of the dishes, and we got bit up by mosquitoes a few nights. These all proved minor inconveniences to the great hospitality of our hosts and the perfectly located home for our Hawaiian adventure. This place really is amazing! Hopefully, we'll be able to come back ... and if and when we do, this will be the first place I'll look for availability.

Great location for a North Shore stay! Close enough to town (10 minute drive) and close enough to Tunnels Beach (5 minute drive). The house was clean and had everything we needed, including stand-alone fans for each room. Esteban was able to answer all our questions and help us when needed. We loved our 5 day stay, and wish we could have stayed longer.

Great value, great location. Esteban's place was the perfect place to stay on the North shore if you're looking for great value, quiet/secluded, and close to the water. For us the location was perfect: our group was doing the Kalalau trail so Ke'e beach was a very short drive for us. You're also close to Tunnels, Haena and other awesome but less frequented beaches, and within a 15 minute or so drive into Hanalei for provisions/coffee/beer. The house itself is as pictured, clean, simple--it has what you need. They had great beach stuff that we borrowed (snorkel gear, cooler, beach mats) which was nice, and the outdoor shower was handy. Other details that were covered that we appreciated: laundry detergent, shower basics, clean kitchen sponge, tupperware, ample bath and beach towels. The outdoor table and yard are lovely. The mornings were cool and filled with birdsong, and we just left the doors open while we were cooking breakfast and getting ready for the day. We also loved that we were a 2 minute walk from a decent beach and often just went to sit in the morning or evenings. Great place! :)

Esteban and Christina are great host. Esteban brought us bananas as we checked in. This house is across the way from the ocean and in a jungle like setting. Very private. Tunnels Beach is a mile away and that's where some of the best snorkeling on the island is. My family and I will be back.

Great location, can semi see the ocean from all the bedrooms. Good spot to get away in a private, secluded area. The Kalalau trail is nearby, as is Hanalei town. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do (Na Pali Coast, Tunnels, snorkeling, Poipu Beach, and more). Estaban and Christine were very nice and accommodating, they even cut down fresh bananas for us.

Response from Esteban:
So glad you enjoyed your stay and the bananas! :) Hope to see you again one day! :)

It's been over a decade since relocating to the North Shore of Kauai from California. I feel very fortunate to call the garden island home.

In my free time, I enjoy the diving and surfing the nearby reefs and showing our Airbnb guests the local gems of the island. I used to work as an underwater videographer teach marine biology via research boat exploring the coasts of Oahu, Maui, Lanai and the Big Island.

I co-manage a eco-travel business based here on the North Shore and also run a Marketing company specializing in professional photography, videography, website and graphic design.
