Quiet, cozy, and convenient. Nestled among Christmas tree farms, 1/2 mile from where Highway 421 intersects with Highway 221, one mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 10 miles to downtown Boone and Appalachian State University, and 25-45 minutes from major ski resorts. Generous breakfasts included!

The space
The space for rent is a bedroom on the main floor of the 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom mountain home where I live. The guest bathroom is right across the hall from the bedroom. This is a home where my husband and I live, so there will not be as much privacy as at a hotel. For guests who have full days of activities planned and are just looking for an inexpensive place to sleep and grab breakfast, it is perfect!

Guest access
You will have a private bedroom and your own bathroom just across the hall. You are welcome to fix a snack in the kitchen. There is a covered front porch with rocking chairs, and an open back deck with a lovely view of Christmas-tree-covered mountainsides. There is a gravel driveway/parking area right outside the front door entrance for guests' exclusive use, and the front door has a keypad entry so you can come and go as you please without disturbing anyone.

Other things to note
Breakfasts will consist of fresh fruit, coffee and/or tea, bread, muffins and/or bagels, yogurt, and granola. On days that I am not working, I am happy to prepare eggs and hash browns, grits, oven-baked french toast, Belgian waffles, a frittata...or you can cook it yourself if you so desire. If you let me know your preferences, I will do my best to make breakfast special for you! We are vegetarians, so there will be no meat, but eggs and a variety of milks--dairy and non-dairy--are generally available.

I am a Professor of Accounting at Appalachian State University. Born in New York, I have also lived in Tennessee, Nebraska, Virginia, Michigan, and Arizona. I have lived in this home in Deep Gap for 13 years. After my first husband passed away, I found a new love--but he runs a business in Charlotte and only comes up on the weekends. I love quilting, gardening, and traveling. I also enjoy cooking and baking and trying new recipes. My daughters have grown up and gotten married and moved away, leaving me with an empty nest and two spare bedrooms!
