Location

Bourton-on-the-Water, Glouestershire, United Kingdom

One of the most picturesque villages in the cotswolds. Part of this row of cottages date back to medieval times. The cottage is central to the town but when enjoying a glass of wine in the courtyard you can only hear birdsong. Check out the history of Captains Cabin via search engines to learn more.

The cottage was previously owned by a Navy officer hence the name. The cottage next door used to be called Crows Nest as he owned both prior to a recent change of hands.

Bourton has many restaurants within walking distance such as the Rose Tree or the Croft or The Manse. So many small shops in the town too or just have a picnic next to the river.

My wife and I bought the cottage in 2014 because we had been enjoying the gorgeous Cotswolds for 20+ years and wanted a cottage we could eventually retire to. In the meantime I want others to enjoy this little piece of the Cotswolds whilst it is in our 'care'. Parts of this row of terraced cottages date back to Medieval times but we have tried to sympathetically renovate without losing any charm of the cottage. We sourced reclaimed oak flooring from the nearby reclamation yard and used local tradesman to bring the cottage up to date. In the Summer you will get sun in the courtyard until about 9pm and there is nothing better than enjoying something cold and bubbly and listening to the birds because that is all you should hear. In wintertime the frosts make the Cotswolds really beautiful and if you get snow it is stunning.
