Vacation rentals in River Tarcoles

We spent 7 nights in Costa Rica of which 2 nights were in Casa Aracari...looking back, we should have spent the whole 7 nights there. Our flight was delayed for 8 hours so we arrived at night; we did not drive to Atenas until the morning - that was a very good decision as night driving on roads that are not well marked would have been a hairy experience! The cottage was exactly as described; however, we were very pleasantly surprised by the constant breeze wafting through the living area and the feeling of pure peace sitting on the verandah listening to the sounds of nature. The cottage was spacious and spotlessly clean, and the kitchen was very well equipped. An added bonus: no mosquitoes! Valeria was very prompt in sending someone to fix an issue with the door lock and also was very helpful with any questions we had on the surrounding area. For sure I will be back!

I loved the open design concept of Andre's house, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of the setting - tropical trees, animals, beautiful skyline. We enjoyed sitting on the balconies, taking in the breezes, watching the birds (we saw Toucans everyday). It was very peaceful. Andre's recommendations were perfect! There are a lot of hiking and mountain bike trails near by and good restaurants within driving distance. The house was well stocked. Thank you Andre's for a wonderful stay!

Our experience with this Airbnb is nothing short of amazing. The Airbnb is very well designed and modern, but the best part perhaps is the million dollar view through the windows of the apartment. You have a floor ceiling windows that show you the whole city of San Jose at night and in the morning wakes you up to a beautiful sunshine. Guillermo also offered many options, including personalization with roses and chocolates as well as breakfast lunch and dinner options. Guillermo as a host was amazing and that he provided information about transportation and even picked us up from a location where we can get an Uber. He is very responsive and wish that we could’ve stayed there longer 100% recommend this Airbnb. Thank you, Guillermo for everything.

Truly indescribably beautiful—this is a deeply special place. From the breathtaking vistas and sunsets to the lush gardens and friendly animals, Heavenly Highlands exceeded all our expectations. As design and architecture lovers, we found the home a joy to admire. As nature lovers, we couldn’t get enough of the stunning surroundings. Our children giggled and explored for days, petting animals and picking berries—pure joy to watch. Having fresh pizza and sushi made by a private chef was the cherry on top! Ronny the farmer was a delight to chat with and learn from. The cool mountain breezes were a refreshing break from the coastal heat. I personally fell in love with Kristoff the donkey—he adored snuggles. We felt relaxed, inspired, and fully at peace here, so connected to nature. We truly can’t wait for the chance to return!

My family of 4 recently stayed for 3 nights at Bernarda's place and we cannot say enough good about it. We had a long travel day from Fortuna and honestly had a little bit of a tough time with getting to the property. However, Bernarda and Jose were so helpful and communicative. They met us and showed us everything. We had coconut water and a wonderful fresh fruit plate waiting for us. We had a medical issue Bernarda was very helpful with and was responsive with anything we needed. That is so comforting in a new cultural area. Now for the place...just so quaint and perfect. The apartment unit and complex were peaceful with a great view. Macaws flying by and beach in the background! Playa Blanca is an incredible beach...not crowded, great sand and waves, friendly locals...and to top it off, Bernarda had chairs, snorkel gear, a cooler and everything you could need. We also went up to the Punta Leona resort one morning and thoroughly enjoyed our time there too. Would DEFINITELY recommend!

This is a lovely and private place to relax and enjoy yourself. There are great places to visit. Convenient markets for food and wine. We ziplined in Jaco, and went to the beach there. We did the private tour with Tour de Pesca Chandy, which was recommended by Francisco and had a great time. There are many local hikes and beaches to visit. Great restaurants in the area. The house is very centrally located if you are interested in visiting the tourist attractions. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Costa Rica.

Margarita’s place had a stunning view. The place itself was quaint but so very cute. She had some food and drinks stocked in the treehouse for us. We got to enjoy her personal pool, greenhouse, and a brunch at her home. Overall the experience was immaculate. I would recommend this place to anyone!
