Island vacation rentals in Riau Islands

The truth is, I chanced upon Castaway Island while looking for a short getaway near Batam with an ocean view and didn’t exactly know what I was signing up for. But our 3D2N stay on Castaway Island turned out to be exactly what I needed - to slow down. My husband and I were very fortunate to be the only visitors on the island so it truly felt like we were living on a private island with Halil and the locals. Some of the highlights include waking up to the breathtaking view of the ocean, sketching/painting around the island, snorkeling, fishing for sea urchins with the locals, collecting seashells, exploring the next island, falling asleep under the stars at night, enjoying a seafood feast for every meal (the raw sea urchins were my favourite). Do note that this isn’t a resort (unlike many other private islands in the region) so amenities are basic. But we enjoyed our stay nonetheless! Thank you Halil for having us, we hope to be back again.

We had an amazing two days on the island! The location is stunning. We took a ferry from Singapore, drove 90 minutes and then a small boat to the island. The tents are great. The fans helped a lot with heat and we had no issue with the solar power. Shower was refreshing. We spent a lot of the weekend reading. It was so quiet, just us and the birds. I appreciated the net over the water. We borrowed snorkels and a kayak to explore the water and other islands. We are quite selective eaters and I am gluten-free, so that caused some challenges. I suggest asking for an overview of meals if you are also selective before arriving - host is very responsive in communication and wants to ensure you are enjoying the experience. Bed was comfortable - I loved sleeping with all the windows open and watching the ocean. Overall, a really relaxing weekend away in a stunning location. I suggest going soon before the rest of the tents are finished and occupied!

Thanks for hosting my family and I on the Castaway Island. It was certainly a memorable experience for a couple of city dwellers to experience a few days in this in-between hardship camping and full service resort kind of place. The tent was clean and breezy. Solar powered fan and lights and rain water shower were luxurious. We fished and collected clams for dinner.. everything that I wanted to try. Thanks for a great experience.

This little island was like a paradise for us. I was a bit afraid if the other reviews maybe speak a bit too good about this place, but they do not. Everything was perfect. it is such a peaceful and quiet place. everyone is welcoming and friendly. the food is fresh out of the sea and you can go snorkeling, kayaking, explore by boot, feet or swimming the surroundings. we will be back! thank you all!

My family with 2 young kids thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, reading books, fishing, kayaking and simply fish spotting. Anty cooked us fabulous local seafood and the caretakers always goes the extra mile to make us comfortable.

The most amazing place on Earth! Our stay with Antje was a highlight of our vacation. There is nothing usual or trivial about her island. From unbelievably stunning nature to sleeping listening to waves and trees to fresh and healthy food and, importantly, company! Antje and her family are warm, welcoming and caring. This week resets senses, removes everyday grind and allows to see/feel beauty of the world around. A unique place and I can only hope we will get to come again! Thank you so much!
