Antiracism resources for the Airbnb community
Highlights
In the wake of continued injustices faced by the Black community, here are more ways that you can get involved and become a better ally
Last year, the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless other Black people triggered an especially difficult time for many, including Hosts and guests. We also saw a spike in anti-Asian violence.
Airbnb’s Black@ employee resource group prepared an Activism & Allyship Guide, and we shared it with our community in the U.S. The goal was to support Hosts and guests who were hurting, angry, scared, or unsure of how to bring about change and to provide resources for members of our community to become better allies.
We can’t talk about recent events without also acknowledging the painful truth that some Hosts and guests around the world still experience discrimination, which directly conflicts with of our mission to create belonging. In 2016, Airbnb launched our Nondiscrimination Policy and Community Commitment. Since then, more than 1.3 million people who have declined to agree have been removed from our platform. We still have work to do and we’re continuing to fight discrimination.
Recently, we shared resources to help you support the Asian and Pacific Islander community, and we expanded the Activism & Allyship Guide we mentioned above.
The updated Activism & Allyship Guide provides readings and suggested actions from antiracism activists and experts in the U.S., U.K., and E.U., as well as in Ireland, South Africa, Canada, and more. We thought it would be helpful to share these new resources with you—as we all work together to become better and more active allies.
