Attracting your first guests

Use your calendar and pricing tools to grow your experience business.
By Airbnb on Dec 4, 2025

Now that your Airbnb Experience is published, you can focus on attracting guests. Adding availability, setting a competitive price, and getting your first 5-star reviews can help build momentum.

Update your calendar

Your listing won’t appear on Airbnb until you add availability. Update your calendar right away so guests can book. Decide how often you’ll offer the activity based on its duration, your availability, and your business goals. If you have a co-host, determine when each of you will host the experience.

To add availability, select a day you want to host and tap Schedule an experience. Choose the time, booking type, price, group size, and other details. You can block time before and after an activity for prep work or cleanup.

Try these tips to help your listing stand out.

  • Open more availability: The more dates and times you make available, the more bookings you’re likely to get. Successful hosts often offer an experience 10 times or more per month, including at least one weekend day per week.
  • Plan ahead: Many hosts add up to 3 months of availability to help increase their chances of getting booked. You can schedule an experience you offer daily up to 60 days ahead and an experience you offer weekly up to 52 weeks ahead.
  • Sync your calendars: Sync your Airbnb and Google business calendars to help track everything in one place and prevent accidental double bookings. For example, when a night is booked in one calendar, it’s automatically blocked on the other.
  • Find opportunities: Once you start hosting, identify slow and busy times, and consider adjusting your availability and price accordingly. The more availability you offer now, the more likely you’ll be able to meet moments of high demand.

Set a competitive price

Fine-tuning your price can help you secure your first bookings and build momentum. There are 4 main factors to consider.

  • Operating costs: Make sure your price covers your expenses.
  • Revenue: Sometimes offering a lower price per person can attract more guests and boost your revenue. For example:
    • 4 guests booked at $75 USD each = $300 USD
    • 8 guests booked at $60 USD each = $480 USD
  • Similar experiences: Search for activities like yours on Airbnb and other platforms to compare local prices and understand what’s competitive. The global average price range for an Airbnb Experience is $65 to $81 USD.*
  • Total price: Your price must include all fees and gratuities.

Adding a discount is another way to help your listing stand out. There are 3 discounts available in your price settings.

  • Limited-time: Attract your first guests and early reviews by offering 5% to 50% off for 90 days.
  • Early bird: Give 20% off to guests who book more than 2 weeks in advance. This appeals to travelers who plan ahead and helps you fill your calendar.
  • Large group: You can set discounted rates per person to appeal to large groups. For example, you could offer 10% off for 2 to 3 people, 20% off for 4 to 5 people, and 30% for more than 6 people. Most guests book an experience with at least one other person.*

If your discount is more than 10% off your total price, guests see the discounted price next to your crossed-out original one in search results and on your listing.** If you add more than one discount, the guest gets whichever one results in the biggest savings. They can’t receive multiple discounts on the same reservation.

Offer private bookings

You might want to offer your experience to a specific guest or group at a custom price. For example, sharing your experience with family and friends at a lower price or for free is a great way to earn your first 5-star reviews.

To create a private instance, select a date and time on your calendar, tap Edit and set the visibility to private. Copy the custom link and share it with a specific guest or group. Only guests who join the reservation can leave a review.

*Based on Airbnb Experience reservations from May 13, 2025, to July 20, 2025, in 30 cities worldwide

**Must be at least $3 USD or the local equivalent off the total price

You control your pricing and other settings at all times. Your results may vary.
